“I came here to apologise.”
So much had been clear, but Jacques still had not expected to hear it quite so straightforward, his face perking up in curiosity.
“I didn’t treat you right, Jako. Not like you deserve - not like you need.”, Karl admitted, and Jacques was already ready to forgive and forget, at least for now, at least for another month or two until the sweetness of Karl’s apology would have been once more forgotten after the man’s attention would have been focused on his work and not on Jacques for so long that Jacques would have felt forced to stop his loneliness from shredding him to pieces in some other way.
And yet, before Jacques could even reply, Karl moved one step further, causing Jacques' voice to hitch.
“And I’m here to fix this.”
