Summary:

“Alastor! Lovely to see ya. And, oh, is this Lucifer Morningstar?” The woman Lucifer assumes is Rosie dips into a curtesy. “Pleasure to meet ya, Your Highness!” Lucifer shifts awkwardly on his feet.

“Ah, uh, Lucifer is just fine.” He clears his throat. “We’re, uh, here to pick up some clothes that my daughter ordered!”

“Oh, yes, of course! Dear Charlie, such a sweet girl, she is! Give me a moment and I’ll fetch them for ya.” Rosie disappears into the back room, leaving Lucifer with Alastor towards the front of the shop.

Work Text:

“Oh! Dad! I’ve been looking for you everywhere!”

Lucifer turns at the sound of his daughter’s voice, watching as she closes the distance between them. There’s a paper clutched in one of her hands, and she holds it out for him.

“I have some errands I need to run but I’m really busy planning for my next meeting with Heaven so I was wondering if you’d take care of them for me?” Lucifer glances down at the list, reading it over before glancing back up with a smile.

“Yeah, ‘course! You take care of all that meeting stuff and I’ll have this list squared away by the end of the day!” The huge smile Charlie gives him makes doing it all the more worth it. She pulls him into a tight hug, and he’s quick to return it.

“Thanks Dad! You’re the best.” She pulls away and turns to leave, before seemingly remembering something and turning back to him. “Oh! One more thing, take Al with you? There’s a couple things I need from Rosie and he knows her really well.”

Confused for a moment, Lucifer glances down at the list and, sure enough, Pick up clothes from Rosie was written right there in Charlie’s loopy handwriting.

“Yeah. I’ll bring him along.” He nods, and she beams at him.

“Alright! Thanks!” Then she turns and leaves to go take care of business. As if on cue, Alastor strides into the room, twirling his cane as he walks.

“Hey! Perfect timing, Bambi. Charlie needs us to run some errands for her.” Alastor stops in his tracks, ears flicking as he turns to look at Lucifer. He closes the distance between them, peering at the list held in the King’s hands.

“Well, we should get to it, then! No point in keeping our dear Charlotte waiting!” He places a hand on Lucifer’s shoulder and guides him out the door and into the city.

Errands with Alastor is… an experience. He insists on only the best quality for everything, especially anything that’s used for cooking. The man had such high standards, but then again Lucifer’s just as bad. He only wants the best for his little girl.

Plus, Lucifer’s not complaining about the extra time taken. It just gives him more of a chance to admire the small things about Alastor: how he mumbles under his breath when picking out the best meats and fruits to stock the kitchen with. The way the wind catches his curly hair and blows it around. The way his deer ears flick and twitch at the noises of the bustling city around them. The way Lucifer can feel Alastor's eyes on him when he’s not looking.

Truly, Alastor was beautiful. One of the most beautiful creatures Lucifer had ever seen. Subconsciously, he stands extremely close, just wanting to be near him, and Alastor allows it. Occasionally grabs his hand to take him to their next stop where he once again finds the best quality items he can.

It’s all painfully endearing. Lucifer can feel his heart swell more and more with affection at each passing moment.

Lucifer doesn’t realize it’s nearing dusk until they begin the walk to Cannibal Town to see Rosie. They’ve been out the entire day, but once again, he can’t complain. He was spending time with Alastor, and that made it all the more worth it.

The bell chimes as they walk into Rosie’s Emporium, and the woman behind the counter perks up when she sees who it is, excusing herself and pushing her way through the crowd to greet them.

“She likes you.” Alastor hums after a moment, “Rosie is quite a woman, doesn’t take anything from anybody. She’s quite endeared with you and your daughter, though. Loves Charlie to death, almost like a mother would.” Lucifer chuckles at that.

“It’s hard not to love that girl.” He concedes, “How long have you two known each other?”

“Oh, ever since I ended up down here. Rosie showed me around, taught me what I needed to know, and then set me loose.”

“She created a monster.”

“Indeed she did.” Alastor laughs as Lucifer reaches up to run a hand through Alastor’s curls. Alastor catches his hand and brings it to his lips to place a kiss to his knuckles right as Rosie comes over with a clothing bag.

“Oh my stars! Alastor, ya didn’t tell me you two were an item!” The grin on her face had grown wider, if that were even possible. She reminded Lucifer a lot of Alastor in that way–an ever-present smile.

“Well, allow me to introduce you to my partner.” Lucifer flushes slightly, but the sound of Alastor calling him washed away any sort of embarrassment he could have harbored.

“Well, ya better treat him right, Lucifer, or we’re gonna have some issues, you and me!” She was joking, Lucifer could tell that much, but there was an underlying seriousness to it. He glances over to Alastor, with his content smile and the way his features seem to soften only when he’s with those he trusts more than anything, and Lucifer can’t help but scoff at the notion that he would ever do anything to hurt him.

“I wouldn’t dream of doing anything different.”
