Work Text:
Everything was normal. Mike and Oliver had eaten dinner and both gotten ready for bed. They both stayed up for a bit longer, both doing their own things, before getting into bed, cuddling and going to sleep.
____________
Mike woke up. He was in his bed still and was about to fall back asleep. But.. wait. What was going on? Why did it feel like he was being picked up and moved? Mike tried to flail his arms and legs to try and make whoever picked him up drop him, but he just couldn’t seem to move, his limbs feeling like they were weighed down by bricks.
“What the- what’s going on?” He spoke, to which he got no reply. When he opened his eyes, he noticed that instead of his bed, he was.. underground? Under a mountain? What??
Again, he asked the question ‘what is going on?’ as well as asking this strange person who they were, but there was no response, so he just gave up on asking and just waited, hoping he’d get taken back home.
Then suddenly, unexpectedly, he was being dropped into a pile of something cool and damp. Something that crumbled slightly upon being touched. Dirt. It was dirt. He was dropped into a hole in a pile of dirt. Mike noticed. And that’s when he felt himself being covered by dirt, trapped on all sides by the cool, crumbly earth. ____________
Mike woke with a jolt. This time actually awake, not in a dream. His breathing was quick and he was scared. He looked around the room, trying to make sure it was actually his room and not a room he didn’t recognise. As he looked around, he noticed Oliver, soundly sleeping. Sleeping and safe. Safe. They were safe.
The knowledge that he was safe with Oliver seemed to calm his nerves some, and soon enough, he was laying back down, cuddling up next to Oliver. It was only then that Oliver actually woke up.
“Wha’s wrong Mike?” He mumbled sleepily. He hugged Mike and yawned, eliciting a small chuckle from Mike. He hugged him back before answering. “Nothing, I just had a nightmare, is all. But it’s fine. I promise.”
“You sure i’s nothing?”
Mike kissed Oliver’s forehead. “I’m sure. Just a strange dream. I’ll tell you in the morning. Go back to bed, love.”
Mike could hear Oliver sigh and after a few moments, he realised Oliver was probably asleep. He decided to try and get some sleep again as well, closing his eyes and relaxing.
After a few minutes, the sound of Oliver’s steady breathing coupled with the feeling of his arms around him, Mike felt himself slowly fall asleep, knowing he was safe in his lover's arms.
