   (Set in a series where Thomas is pardoned.)

   All his life Henry had wanted a companion to remain by his side, to steady him as he ruled his kingdom. And God had sent them one by one, and he had removed them, one by one. It hadn’t registered until the evening before his wedding to Katherine Howard that he was about to remove another one.

   Thomas’s usefulness was not the reason he was currently alive. It is Henry’s love for him. Burning love. And a need to undo his wrongs, however he may. If he can save one, then perhaps the others will be free.

   After Henry pardons Thomas and reinstates his Earlship, he seeks to make amends with the Lord Essex. And perhaps, begin the start of something new.
