With Crystal, friendly touch and embraces did not come naturally. But they did come; gradual and pleasantly considerate in nature. And Edwin found himself responding, hesitantly at first — but when nightmares became a reoccuring element of the evenings and Crystal needed support, Edwin felt it to be the right thing to do.
Returning a hug from Crystal Palace was something Edwin Payne hadn't expected that he would be comfortable with.
Giving Crystal Palace a hug was something he hadn't expected he would be even willing to do.
He had never before been so pleased to be proven wrong.
