Tim had been having a lot of thoughts. Not the bad kind of thoughts But the kind of itching to grow and feeling like he wants to grow and is being stifled by the current situation of which he is in. Which was Robin. He craved to spread his wings and fly off into the sunset but Bruce only let Robin come out at night so he can't really do that as Robin.
After so many tireless conversations with Bruce that Tim does not want to remember for the many feelings of it all and how overly emotional the usual non emotional Bruce got was something Tim never wants to remember. It is quite ridiculous considering there was a time where Tim was not Robin and Stephine was in his stead. Stephine wanted to leave to be a batgirl and Tim decided he will go back to being a vigilante.
This was not Tim's first time leaving Bruce’s shadow. Then again it must feel more real in the fact that Tim is becoming another vigilante that is not associated with Robin but that was Tims only guess but he still does not care regardless.
But what should Tim call himself?
Dick got his from Superman, Jason, well Jason did whatever in the world that he did, Stephine became Batgirl then went back to her first vigilante name Spoiler. Babs came up with hers out of necessity and how she came up with it he will never know. Duke has not gone through anything like this before so that leaves Tim in one place.
Now this might be the weirdest story of how one has gotten their hero name but it is Tims so he has to like it in a way. Though he can laugh all he wants to do to himself.
Tim went Damian. Why did Tim go to Damian? Because the first one of many many stuffed animals that Tim has gotten Damian over the time that they have known each other. The first was a Dragon Bird that Damian named RR.
Yep, he went to a 10 year old on what to call himself as a vigilante after what said 10 year old named his stuffed animal that Tim gave him. To be fair, Tim had given him RR as a sort of symbol that was related to his vigilante side as started by Dick and went throughout the whole damn family. All of the others' names related in some manner to their respective person that they gave to them. Some sort of fasit of their vigilante persona.
Except for Tim.
And in a way of wanting to bond with said 10 year old more, why not let him choose his new name? Tim would hate to admit that he still feels as though there is a gap between them that he just cannot seem to find the fix for. Maybe this will finally be it?
Anyhow, Tim has been hanging out with Damian waiting to just ask the question naturally but Tim could not find a way to do that so he just asked hoping it would not seem as weird as it felt. “So, um, why did you name RR, well RR.”
“Because your Robin and Robin was too basic of a name for a bird stuffed animal so I just shortened it to R and that alone sounded off so I just added another one.” Damian explained and, yeah, Tim was not sure what kind of wisdom he thought was going to come from this whole thing but that made sense in a 10 year olds mind. Guess Time will just need to figure this out on his own.
“Then again you like the color red so that makes sense. Red Robin. Now that I think of it, I thought of that name too but I did not want to name it after a chain restaurant. Cause that would....” Damian was going on about something else entirely but all Tim could think of was how nice the name Red Robin sounded.
And boom double connection to Damian. First the name came from him and secondly when Damian was ready to be Robin Tim will also be Robin in a way. 2 Robins.
Mindset he went to do this after existing at the right time. This was the greatest idea he had ever had. Thanks Dami.
