FADE IN:
We begin with a single lantern illuminating a yellow curtain. Light guitar music is played as the curtain opens to reveal a book resting on a stand with a lit candle next to it. The book is a deep indigo color and covered with little yellow cartoon stars. Written on the book’s cover Is a single golden word written in a royal font: WISH.
The book opens to an illustration of the kingdom of Rosas on the left page and our introduction on the right. Our unseen narrator reads it aloud.
NARRATOR
Once upon a time, on an island out at sea, there was a beautiful kingdom where wishes came true called Rosas.
The book turns to the next page where it shows a drawing of Magnifico and Amaya smiling wickedly on their thrones.
NARRATOR
But Rosas’ rulers held a dark secret, for they were not the kind and just leaders the people thought they were. Instead, they were monsters who sought to feed off the wishes the people trusted to them.
The page flips again, to a picture of a young girl in a dress standing between them and crying.
NARRATOR
One day, the monsters found a young girl. And after destroying everything she held dear; they took the girl in as their own and made her a princess so they may fool more people into giving up their wishes to them.
The page flips again to the same image except this time Asha’s grown up.
NARRATOR
For 12 years, the princess was the only one to see even a glimpse of the king and queen’s true selves. Unable to bear it anymore, the princess made a wish upon a star...
Flips again, this time to a double spread with Asha holding Valentino in her arms as she looks awestruck at Star in his human form looking back at her while upside down. Above them were four simple words in gold ink.
NARRATOR
...And the Star answered.
The page then turns to the moment when Asha puts on Amaya’s crown as the people of Rosas cheer for their new queen.
NARRATOR
With the Star’s help, the Princess was able to overthrow her wicked parents, return the wishes to their proper owners, and granted all of Rosas the chance to make their wishes come true through their own power.
The page flips, showing Asha surrounded by all of her friends smiling happily at the audience.
NARRATOR
Normally, after this, the heroes would all live happily ever after. But the story of Asha, Star and all their friends...
The book flips for the last time on a drawing of Asha sleeping on her bed.
NARRATOR
...was just getting started.
The camera zooms into the drawing as it transitions to an animated version of itself. Asha gets out of bed and stretches. She bends down and rubs the still-sleeping Valentino’s head.
ASHA
Good morning, Valentino.
Asha’s pet goat groggily gets up and stretches his back like a cat. He’s noticeably larger than he was in the movie, at least twice as much, and his horns are just sprouting out of his head. His voice is also much lower than it was originally.
VALENTINO
Good morning, Asha.
ASHA
Still not used to you sounding like that.
Asha walks to the window and opens it, revealing a beautiful view of the city of Rosas in all its glory. She soaks it in until a few seagulls fly in front of her window and grab her attention. She turns to look at them and her happy expression immediately switches to one of pure bafflement.
ASHA
Uh, Val? Could you come over here?
Valentino hops onto the windowsill and looks at what Asha’s looking at.
VALENTINO
What is it? What’s wro—oh.
The camera cuts to show that right next to Rosas’ castle is an exact duplicate of it with deer antlers on it.
OPENING CREDITS
TITLE: A UNIQUE PLACE
EXT. ROSAS, CASTLE AMPHITHEATER - MORNING
We open on a shot looking up at the mysterious, antlered Rosas castle. Asha walks into frame turns to the audience, and points at the castle behind her with her thumb.
ASHA
So, you all see this too, right?
The camera cuts to reveal that Star, Valentino, and the Seven Teens are with her. Dario was the only one looking up at the castle in amazement rather than confusion. In the background, the rest of Rosas’ citizens are looking up at it as well.
DAHLIA
Uh-huh.
BAZEEMA
Yeah.
HAL
Sure do.
SIMON
So, this isn’t a dream?
SAFI
ACHOO! I was worried I’d lost it.
GABO
Seeing it, still not believing it.
ASHA
Is it too much to hope that any of you have any clue where it came from?
ALL SEVEN TEENS
Yes.
DARIO
Maybe Star has something to do with it?
STAR
I gave up my magic six months ago, remember? I couldn’t make this even if I wanted to.
DARIO
Oh, yeah.
VALENTINO
(EXCITEDLY) We should check it out.
Everyone looks at him with a surprised expression on their faces.
VALENTINO
(CALMER) I mean, an entire new city just sprouted up right next to us overnight! Doesn’t it make sense to check it out and see what the locals are like?
ASHA
You have a point. As Queen of Rosas, I should investigate this place and see what they’re like. Do you guys mind coming with me?
STAR
Not at all.
Valentino then runs off towards the new city.
VALENTINO
Let’s go!
ASHA
Wait! Val!
Everyone chases after him across the bridge that once led to the uncharted forest. The uncharted forest had now become a presumably very charted city that matched Rosas down to the last detail.
EXT. FOROSAS FRONT GATES - LATER
Not long after, the teens catch up to Valentino, who’s having a discussion with John the bear who is now wearing a green guard uniform and holding a spear in his front paws. John looks up from Valentino to the teens and his friendly, smiling face turns grim. He raises his spear right at them and they stop in their tracks.
ASHA
John? What are you doing? It’s us.
JOHN
It doesn’t matter who you are. My job is to keep any and all threats out of Forosas, including you.
ASHA
Threats?
STAR
Forosas?
VALENTINO
John, stop it! These are my friends!
JOHN
Your friends? You're saying they’re with you?
Valentino nods his head and John puts down the spear.
JOHN
Alright, I guess I can let them into the city. (TO THE TEENS) But I’m keeping my eye on you. (BEHIND HIM, YELLING) Open the gates!
The gates open and everyone walks through.
EXT. FOROSAS - MORNING
When they do, they see a city that’s almost identical to Rosas but with one exception: all of the “people” were walking, talking animals. Mammals specifically such as foxes, rabbits and deer. They were all walking on their hind legs and had fingers where their front hooves and paws would’ve been. The human members of the group stood dumbstruck by everything around them while Valentino had the biggest smile on his face. The moment was ruined by Safi sneezing.
SAFI
AH-CHOO! Ah, man. Of course, my allergies would be worse in a place where everyone has fur.
DAHLIA
This doesn’t make any sense. I mean, we’ve lived with talking animals for months now but this?
STAR
Only extremely powerful magic could’ve done something like this.
BAZEEMA
But who would even be able to pull this off?
GABO
And why would they even bother?
Valentino didn’t seem to pay any attention to them. He was excitedly shaking his tail and looking at the city like a kid in a candy shop.
VALENTINO
Can we check it out, Asha?
ASHA
That is why we came here in the first place. Unless anyone wants to turn back and go home.
STAR
We’re partners, Asha. I’m not gonna leave you behind.
Asha and Star smile at each other while gripping the other’s hand. Simon, now dressed in the uniform of the royal guards, steps up and unsheathes his sword.
SIMON
I better come too. (PROUDLY) As a member of the royal guard, it’s my duty to escort the Queen to any new and potentially dangerous territory.
GABO
In-training.
SIMON
What?
GABO
You’re a member of the royal guard in-training. Tell me, how many times have they sent you to clean the horses?
SIMON
(DEJECTED) Seventeen.
GABO
And how many times have you actually practiced with a sword?
SIMON
...One.
GABO
Wow. I feel safer already.
DAHLIA
Gabo, stop it. Simon, you’ll get the chance to prove yourself soon enough. (TO ASHA) Either way, we’re all coming with you Asha.
The others affirmed Dahlia’s notion.
ASHA
Thanks guys.
VALENTINO
Let’s go!
ASHA
Wai--!
But it’s too late, Valentino has already run off again.
STAR
Someone’s awfully excited.
ASHA
Honestly, what’s with him? In any case, we shouldn’t leave him on his own here. Come on, guys!
MONTAGE – EVERYONE EXPLORES FOROSAS
A – Everybody looks at everything around them. The city is virtually a one-to-one replica of Rosas so it’s really the citizens that get their attention. The teens notice everyone staring back at them, but with much more hostility. The teens stop their staring, but it doesn’t stop the animals’.
B – They try to ask several animals where the city came from but they ignore them.
C – At one point, the group comes across a wolf woman holding a baby. Valentino asks if he can see the baby and she shows him. Valentino awws at the wolf cub’s cuteness. Bazeema tries to get a good look at it too, but when she does, the cub starts crying and the mother bares her fangs at her. The group immediately runs away.
D – At a fruit stand, Asha and the others decide to get some food. She hands the vendor a not insignificant amount of money. And even though Valentino gets his own food, Asha and the other humans are forced to share. Gabo tries to start an argument with the vendor but the others drag him away.
E – The group tries to find a table or a bench to sit at to eat their food but everything says “Animals Only” forcing them to eat on the floor and miserably try to share two meals between the ten of them.
DARIO
Guys, I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to feel pretty unwelcome.
GABO
(SNARKILY) No!
Dario nods his head in confirmation, completely oblivious to Gabo’s sarcasm.
BAZEEMA
(DEJECTEDLY) All my life, I thought animals liked me.
HAL
It’s not your fault Bazee. It’s this city. I don’t know where it came from, but it seems to have turned all the animals into jerks.
VALENTINO
(INSISTENTLY) Not all the animals!
GABO
No, just every one we’ve met.
STAR
You’d think they’d at least be happy to see me. I’m the reason most of them can talk in the first place!
SAFI
AH-CHOO! And I’ve been sneezing even worse since I got here! I wanna go home.
SIMON
But we still have no idea where this city came from.
DAHLIA
It’s doubtful they would tell us anything given our luck so far.
ASHA
Still, we can’t just leave. Let’s just find whoever’s in charge here, get some answers, and then we can get out of here. That okay with you, Valentino? Valentino?
Valentino doesn’t answer. He seems lost in thought.
VALENTINO
(MUMBLES) This isn’t what I wanted at all.
ASHA
What?
Asha didn’t quite catch that. But before Valentino could clarify, horns blare off and the citizens head off towards the antlered castle.
BAZEEMA
It sounds like the call to assemble back home.
GABO
This place already rips off everything else.
ASHA
Come on, maybe the leader can finally explain things.
Everyone gets up and follows the crowd to the amphitheater outside the castle. They made their way through the crowd to get as close to the stage as possible in the hopes of getting a word with their leader.
They look up and see a grey rabbit in green, royal attire blowing a horn.
RABBIT
Presenting the Great King of Forosas, the shield of all mammalkind, King Frederick.
The audience explodes in applause as a bipedal stag wearing green royal robes and a cape steps out on stage.
RABBIT
And his son, Prince Bambi.
A more muted response comes when a smaller stag comes out carrying a stick covered in what looks like some kind of fungus.
BAMBI
Hey Dad, check out this weird moss. You ever seen it this color?
King Frederick smacks the stick out of his son’s hands before addressing the audience.
FREDERICK
Greetings, citizens of Forosas! I am happy to see that all of you are enjoying yourselves. Normally, I wouldn’t take this time away from your busy lives, but I have received some concerning news. I’ve been told that humans were spotted here in our kingdom.
The audience starts booing immediately. Dario raises his hand and starts calling for the king’s attention, making everyone else shut up and look at him. Asha and the others try to get him to stop but it’s too late.
FREDERICK
And I see that they’re currently in the audience.
Asha facepalms before turning to face the king. She curtsies as she introduces herself and the others.
ASHA
Hello, your Highness. I’m Asha, Queen of Rosas, the kingdom right next to yours. This is Star, my boyfriend, and my friends Dahlia, Dario, Simon, Safi, Hal, Bazeema, Gabo, and Valentino. We came over because we had some questions regarding your kingdom.
STAR
Yeah, like, where did it come from?
HAL
Why does it look so much like Rosas?
GABO
And why is everyone here a j-
SAFI
AH-CHOO!
DONKEY STANDING NEXT TO HIM
Watch it, baldie!
The king looks at them with a stern expression before smiling.
FREDERICK
I’ll be more than happy to answer your questions. Please, step inside my castle and I’ll absolve you of your curiosity there.
The other mammals start to protest including the Prince.
BAMBI
(WHISPER) Dad, are you for real? These are humans!
FREDERICK
Yes, I’m “for real”. And I’d be very grateful as your father (VOICE RAISED, TO THE CROWD) and as your king (NORMALLY) if you would respect my judgement and allow me to converse with our guests.
The crowd goes silent after that. The group walks up to the stage and bows gratefully to King Frederick.
ASHA
Thank you, Your Highness.
FREDERICK
Come with me.
They follow the King and Prince into the castle. In the next scene, they’re sitting in the dining hall, being served a lunch of freshly made salad. While no one in the group was exactly vegan (except for Valentino obviously) they were all so hungry that they happily ate it.
ASHA
Thank you again for taking the time to answer our questions, Your Majesty.
STAR
And thanks for the grub! Everywhere else we go; people treat us like public enemy #1.
GABO
Yeah, no offense, but your people really need to work on their hospitality.
BAMBI
(GRUMBLE) Says the intruder.
BAZEEMA
I’m sorry. Would you mind repeating that? I didn’t quite hear you.
BAMBI
Hmph!
Rather than say anything, Bambi focuses on his lunch, leaving Bazeema dejected while Hal patted her on the shoulder to try and cheer her up.
FREDERICK
It’s my pleasure. Now, what questions do you wish answered?
ASHA
Many, actually. But the one that comes to mind first is “Where did Forosas come from?”
FREDERICK
Of course. And I would be happy to answer it for you Queen Asha but the truth is, we don’t really know ourselves. You see, we woke up in this beautiful metropolis just this morning with no idea where it came from, similar to you. But despite that, we found ourselves gifted with knowledge and experience we never had before. Knowledge that would assure that Forosas would remain a bastion of civilization for centuries to come.
ASHA
That’s...good?
Asha tried to sound congratulatory, but she was more confused than ever.
FREDERICK
We had also been granted a new level of insight.
ASHA
What kind of insight?
FREDERICK
This island, the one you call Rosas, has been our home for thousands of years, untouched by human hands. But then one day, you people came along and claimed that it belongs to you. That doesn’t sound right to me.
ASHA
My...predecessor is the one who founded Rosas and he did that a really long time ago. The majority of the population have lived here their entire lives. While it may not have been right for Magnifico to try and take this island from you, Rosas is our home just as much as it is yours.
FREDERICK
Not anymore.
VALENTINO
W-what are you saying?
FREDERICK
I see you’ve made a close friend with one of our kind, so I’ll grant you a boon. You have 24 hours to leave this island and never return.
ASHA
What?
FREDERICK
If you decide not to leave, we will force you to.
ASHA
Where is this coming from? You were never this hostile towards us before.
FREDERICK
That was before we evolved, so to speak. Let me make myself clear, Rosas will burn. Whether or not its people are inside it when it does is up to you.
ASHA
You...You...!
Before Asha could say anything else, she feels someone else’s hand grab hers. She turns around and sees Star. She starts to calm down before facing the King of Forosas again.
ASHA
Thank you for your...generous offer, Your Majesty. We’ll take it into great consideration. Guys, I feel it’s time we returned home.
DAHLIA
Agreed. Let’s go everybody.
The teens get up from their chairs and walk away, including Valentino.
FREDERICK
What say you, Valentino?
The little goat turns around to face Frederick.
FREDERICK
Wouldn’t you rather stay here amongst your own kind?
VALENTINO
My kind don’t try to kick people out of their homes. So long, your Majesty.
Valentino then walks away. The only human left at the table was Dario, who was stuffing his face with salad.
DARIO
Mmm! Can I have the recipe for this?
GABO
It’s salad! Shove some leaves in a bowl and you're done.
DARIO
Oh!
GABO
Come here, you dope.
After pulling Dario off his chair, the teens leave Forosas and return to the castle.
INT. ROSAS CASTLE, THE GREAT HALL - AFTERNOON
SAFI
Ah, it’s good to be home.
DAHLIA
Except someone has just declared war on us.
BAZEEMA
What are we gonna do, Asha?
ASHA
For now, we prepare for the worst. Simon, tell the royal guards to get ready for the incoming attack. Everyone else, I need you to warn the citizenry and convince them to get on the next boat out of Rosas should anything happen.
DAHLIA
There won’t be enough boats to get everyone out of here.
ASHA
But they’ll still be at the docks, technically outside of the city. Let’s hope that’ll be enough to keep them safe. It’s all we can do at this point.
While this conversation was happening, Valentino looked downcast and guilty. Star noticed this and asked what he wanted to ask all day.
STAR
You know something, little buddy?
This grabs everyone’s attention and made them look at them.
VALENTINO
W-what?
STAR
You’ve been acting weird all day. You think we wouldn’t notice?
GABO
Hey, he’s right. What are you hiding?
DAHLIA
Gabo. Be gentle with him.
ASHA
Is something wrong, Valentino? Because if there is, you can tell me.
Valentino looks up at Asha. You can see an entire wave of shame hit him all at once.
VALENTINO
Forosas is...all my fault.
ASHA
What do you mean?
VALENTINO
It started yesterday.
EXT. ROSAS – MORNING - FLASHBACK
VALENTINO (V.O.)
I was walking through the city, not a care in the world, not expecting anything to really happen. When I saw it; the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
The thing he’s talking about is a yellow sweater being worn on one of several mannequins surrounding a stall that sold clothes. Valentino looks at the price tag and then inside a bag of coins tied around his neck.
VALENTINO (V.O.)
Asha had given me just enough money for me to get it. But when I went to the guy behind the counter and asked for it, they refused, saying that their wares were for humans only.
Valentino walks away, his head hanging down in disappointment.
VALENTINO (V.O)
That was the third time that week someone snubbed me for being a talking goat. Sure, they’re nice to me when I hang out with Asha, but on my own, I’m just an oddity to them. And it reminded me of what I wish for: a utopia where all mammals could wear clothes and live in harmony like humans do.
Valentino stops at the fountain that Asha commissioned to replace the statues of Magnicifico and Amaya. He looks into his reflection and sighs. Just then, the water ripples and his reflection changes to something else.
VALENTINO (V.O.)
That’s when I met him.
“Him”, as it were, was a green theater mask that replaced Valentino’s reflection in the water.
VALENTINO (V.O.)
He said that if I trusted him, then he would make my wish come true.
INT. ROSAS CASTLE, THE GREAT HALL - PRESENT
VALENTINO
So, I did.
GABO
So, you wished for all the forest mammals to turn into jerks?
VALENTINO
No! I just wanted us to be more like you guys. I have no idea why they’re so mean towards humans.
???
You wished for the beasts to be of higher station.
To be more than what nature had in plan.
You should not question their discrimination,
For its absence was what separated them from man.
Everyone looked around them in worry and confusion as the mysterious voice echoed across the room. Suddenly, green theater masks appear on all the mirrors in the great hall, looking down on them.
ASHA
You’re the one who granted Valentino’s wish?
MASK
It was I that made the goat’s dream come true.
Do not tell me that is a moment you’ve come to rue.
STAR
You seriously think that’s what humanity is like? Just because some of them are bigots doesn’t mean bigotry itself is part of human nature.
MASK
Agree to disagree former star, it matters not.
For as we speak, the King of Forosas concocts his plot
To take what he feels belongs to his people and him.
At this point, it’s irrelevant that I gave them that whim.
DAHLIA
People will suffer tomorrow! Doesn’t that mean anything to you?
MASK
My only duty is to grant wishes.
It’s not my concern if...you fry like...fishes?
Everyone was confused by the rather forced rhyme. The mask shouts in frustration before he disappears.
VALENTINO
Wait! Come back and fix this! I know you can! Come back!
STAR
Well, at least we finally got some answers.
ASHA
True, but this also changes things.
BAZEEMA
What do you mean?
ASHA
If the mammals were actually hostile towards us, we’d be able to properly defend ourselves. But now that we know that whatever that was is forcing them to act like this, we can’t hurt them. After all, they’re not in real control of themselves. Simon, tell the guards to get ready but also to not seriously harm the mammals.
SIMON
On it.
ASHA
Everyone else, go do what I told you earlier except Dahlia. I need your and Star’s help to look through the study for a spell that’ll snap the mammals to their senses.
VALENTINO
Can I come too? I really want to fix things.
ASHA
Frankly, Valentino, we can use all the help we can get. Let’s move everybody.
THE OTHERS
Right.
The groups split off to do their assigned tasks. What follows is a montage of Simon and the royal guards practicing non-lethal techniques to subdue their enemies, Asha and her group scanning the study’s shelves and flipping through pages, the other teens warning everyone while trying to keep them calm, and the Forosas residents getting ready to invade. This goes on from day to night. And then, it’s day again.
INT. ROSAS ROYAL CASTLE, STUDY – MORNING
Asha, Star, Dahlia, and Valentino are fast asleep. They’re startled awake by the sound of horns playing. Dahlia looks down and sees Forosas’ army right outside the city.
DAHLIA
(CONCERNED) They’re here.
STAR
Now? But it hasn’t been 24 hours yet.
ASHA
And we still haven’t found a spell to free them that I can pull off.
DAHLIA
What are we gonna do?
Asha stands next to Dahlia and looks down at the army. She looks towards the docks and sees a massive crowd of people standing outside waiting for the boats.
ASHA
All that we can do.
EXT. ROSAS, BRIDGE TO UNCHARTED FOREST - LATER
Asha approaches Forosas’ army with her own army right behind her. Flanking her sides are Star, Dahlia, Simon and Valentino, the first two armed with a frying pan and a rolling pin respectively. Strapped to Asha’s side is a long, thin scabbard and she and her friends are dressed in knight armor bearing the royal colors of blue and white.
On the other side of the creek separating Rosas from Forosas is King Frederick and his son Prince Bambi. Both are dressed in armor too, green of course, with their army consisting of mammals great and small backing them. Their ranks absolutely dwarves Asha’s.
FREDERICK
Apologies for being early Queen Asha but I had assumed you’d have come to your senses and left by now.
ASHA
Your Majesty, you and your people are cursed. Surely you remember what it was like before you were consumed by this hatred. Let me help you. It’ll take some time but if you just give me a chance, I could free you and all of Forosas from this madness.
FREDERICK
I assure you, Queen Asha, our minds have never been clearer.
BAMBI
Yeah, we’re, like, smart and stuff now!
FREDERICK
I will grant you one last chance, leave now or be annihilated.
Asha hardens her resolve.
ASHA
Me and my soldiers are not going anywhere.
GABO (O.S.)
And neither are we.
Everyone turns to see Gabo, Dario, Hal, Bazeema, and Safi join Asha’s ranks followed by hundreds of citizens armed with whatever they could get their hands on, making both forces even in terms of numbers.
ASHA
What are you--
GABO
We stood up to Magnifico and Amaya. Do you really think a bunch of stuck-up animals are gonna scare us off?
BAZEEMA
I really, really don’t want to hurt animals, but if that’s what it takes to protect my home, I will. Just not too much.
HAL
We’re your friends, Asha. We’ll stand by you against anything.
Asha smiles warmly at her friends until Safi interrupts with a sneeze.
SAFI
AH-CHOO! Ugh, can we please just hurry this up before I sneeze myself to death?
FREDERICK
With pleasure.
Frederick pulls out a broadsword and charges right at Asha. She blocks it with a rapier that she pulled out of her scabbard before anyone even noticed. As the two try to overpower the other, the armies converge into a massive free-for-all. We cut to our main players in various parts of the conflict.
DAHLIA
(SHOUTING) Remember, don’t seriously hurt them! They’re not in control of themse—Aah!
Dahlia’s instructions are interrupted when she feels a beaver bite on her leg. She crushes the beaver’s tail with her crutch, making it let go, before smacking it on the side of the head with her rolling pin, KOing it.
DAHLIA
(SHOUTING) Uh, like that but maybe less.
The camera cuts to Bazeema hiding behind a shield and apologizing every time a critter lunges at her.
BAZEEMA
Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!
Soon she’s confronted by a wolf who snarls viciously at her before Hal smashes him in the face with a chair.
HAL
(POLITELY) Bazee, this is war. You don’t have time to apologize to the enemy.
BAZEEMA
R-right!
The wolf shakes itself awake and gets back up. Bazeema shuts her eyes tight and runs towards the wolf. She lifts her shield over her head and slams it down...right in front of the enemy. The wolf looks up to give her a “really?” expression before bing blindsided by Hal’s chair smacking him in the face and knocking him unconscious.
BAZEEMA
Did I do it?
HAL
You sure did, honey.
Bazeema opens her eyes, sees the knocked-out wolf and smiles with a mix of accomplishment and guilt.
Safi is surrounded by a horde of bunnies. They climb onto him, cover him entirely, and drag him to the ground. Before they could really hurt him, Safi’s sneeze starts to build up.
SAFI
AH-AHH-AHHH-CHOOOO!
The sneeze was so strong it blew all the rabbits off his head. He continued sneezing until all the rabbits were shaken off or blown from his body. When it was done, he sniffed, rubbed his nose, got back up and picked up his weapon: a metal food tray.
SAFI
Okay, I’m ready now. Come and face me—Where'd everyone go?
Safi sees that he’s completely alone. None of the animals nor the humans want to get near him for fear of his sneezes.
SAFI
I should really see a doctor someday.
Dario is taking on Prince Bambi, who has a sword, by himself with a rake.
BAMBI
Alright baldie, time to show you how the Great Prince of Forosas does things!
Before they could battle, Dario notices something on the ground and drops his rake.
DARIO
Holy moly, a four-leaf clover!
BAMBI
No way!
Bambi drops his sword and both of them get down on their knees to take a closer look at the clover.
DARIO
Oh, man! I’ve never seen one before!
BAMBI
Me neither!
They both grab the clover, their hands wrapping around each other’s.
BOTH
Dibs! Hey!
The two of them stand up, still clutching the clover.
DARIO
I found it first.
BAMBI
Well, I called dibs first.
DARIO
Oh, yeah? Well, I call double dibs!
BAMBI
Then I call triple dibs!
DARIO
Quadruple dibs!
BAMBI
Five-uple dibs!
DARIO
Infinity dibs! Ha!
BAMBI
Royal Infinity dibs! I can do that ‘cause I’m a prince!
DARIO
Let go!
BAMBI
You let go!
The two pull at the clover over and over until they both let go and stare angrily at each other. Without their weapons, they were forced to slap at each other over it until Bambi pushed Dario to the ground. Dario looks up to see Bambi holding their prize in triumph.
BAMBI
Ha! I knew a baldie like you would never get their hands on something like this!
Just as he finished saying that a loud noise was heard right behind his head. Bambi made a dazed expression before falling over and revealing Gabo holding a long piece of wood.
GABO
Please don’t tell me you’re gonna be doing that the entire battle.
Dario doesn’t listen to him, he’s too enamored by the clover he had taken from Bambi’s unconscious form. Gabo sees this and sighs in frustration.
Simon is battling against John the bear. He holds his own at first, but the bear’s superior size and strength quickly overwhelms him. John’s about to deliver another attack until he feels something around his ankles.
John looks down to see Valentino pulling at his fur.
VALENTINO
John, stop! It’s us! Your friends!
JOHN
Get lost, traitor!
John kicks Valentino away and the goat lands face first on the creek. He gets up and looks around him to see that humans are losing the battle.
VALENTINO
(SILENTLY) This is all my fault...
Valentino looks down at his reflection in the creek.
VALENTINO
Hey! I know you can hear me! I don’t want this anymore. You hear that, this isn’t my wish so fix it already!
BEAT.
VALENTINO
...Please...
The Mask appears before him. Valentino smiles but he drops it not long after hearing him speak.
MASK
To make your utopia was mere child’s play.
To take it back, a heavy price you must pay.
Asha and Frederick are having an epic sword duel. Unfortunately, when only one party is going all out, it tends to end poorly for the other. Frederick headbutts Asha, knocking her to the ground. He’s about to deliver the coup de grace only for Star to rush in and tackle him.
It sadly doesn’t do much as Frederick’s superior size and strength keeps him upright. He easily dispatches Star with a punch to the stomach followed by a right hook.
ASHA
Star!
Asha reaches for her sword but Frederick steps on it before pulling it away and kicking it further. He raises his sword, ready to plunge it into Asha’s chest.
FREDERICK
Die.
Asha shuts her eyes as Frederick thrusts his blade. But just then, the sword falls to the ground. Asha opens her eyes and sees that Frederick has become a normal talking deer, looking around confused.
Asha sees that the entire Forosas army has returned to normal and stopped fighting, helping humans get back on their feet and apologizing.
Frederick himself lowers his head so that Asha could hold onto his antlers. She does and after he helps her up, he bows again.
FREDERICK
Queen Asha, I speak on behalf of all the mammals of the forest when I say, “We are incredibly sorry for our heinous behavior.”
ASHA
That’s alright, your Majesty.
FREDERICK
Please, just call me Fred.
ASHA
Well, Fred. You’ve nothing to apologize for. This wasn’t really your fault.
VALENTINO (O.S.)
(SOBBING) You’re right...It was mine.
Valentino walks into the scene with his head hung low and tears in his eyes.
ASHA
Valentino?
VALENTINO
You all got hurt because of me. If I had never made that stupid wish none of this would’ve happened! (CRYING) Oh, my voice gets really high when I cry! (CONTINUES CRYING)
Asha kneels down and hugs the little goat.
ASHA
Valentino, it’s alright. What’s gotten into you?
MASK (O.S.)
The opposite, actually.
Asha follows the sound of the voice to the creek while carrying the still crying Valentino. The rest of Asha’s friends arrive to have a look at him. None of them are happy to see him.
MASK
And I suppose that would be because of me.
The goat knew that without me, you would not live.
For my assistance, his wish, he had to give.
ASHA
His wish?
MASK
You cannot grant what is no more
Crushed, destroyed, in pieces on the floor
STAR
You destroyed his wish?!
ASHA
Why would you--
And then it dawns on Asha who the Mask really is.
ASHA
No, it can’t be...
The Mask smiles deviously before changing shape, revealing himself to actually be the former King of Rosas, Magnifico.
MAGNIFICO
About time you figured it out, princess. That rhyming schtick was really getting old.
DAHLIA
(HORRIFIED) This is impossible.
ASHA
How are you free?
MAGNIFICO
I had a little help. Though I’m not exactly free. Not yet anyway. First, I have to grant and then absorb three wishes. And thanks to your pet, I already have one in the bag. (LAUGHS EVILLY)
ASHA
I swear as Queen of Rosas, I will stop you!
MAGNIFICO
You’ll try to stop me. But until then, I’ll be keeping an eye on you. All of you.
Magnifico then disappears. Valentino bursts into tears once more and Asha tries to comfort him, all the while she and the others are incapable of hiding their fear.
INT. ??? - MORNING
In a dark, mysterious lab covered in dust and cobwebs, Magnifico’s reflective prison rests on a table covered in beakers and laboratory equipment. Someone wearing a hooded cloak picks up the headpiece and talks directly to it.
???
Did you really have to reveal your hand so soon?
MAGNIFICO
Eh, they would’ve realized someone busted me out of the dungeon eventually. And it’s not like Asha and her little friends wouldn’t try to stop me if they hadn’t. Besides, all they can do is play catch up. Everyone slips up sooner or later and when they do, we’ll be there to offer all their little dreams on a platter. Once all’s said and done, we’ll get exactly what we wish for. You’ll have the world...
The cloaked figure’s face is revealed. She looks exactly like Amaya.
AMAYA?
And you’ll have your wife.
