Chapter 1: Calm beginnings

Chapter Text

You wake up.
Only thing you can see around you is darkness.
No matter how far you’ll look, there’s only darkness, it seems you aren’t gonna get out of it.
And you’ll never ever get out.

“Never ever ever ?”

Never ever ever ev- you get the point.

“And i can’t do anything about it ?”

You can’t do anything but relax in the infinite void you’re in.

“What if i don’t want to though.”

Well then you should try to find a way out somehow.

“Yeah i sure do see a way out of here in this giant endless void.”

Optimism is the first step out of here, so you’re doing *great* right now.

“Helpful advice. So could you tell me how to get out or nudge me towards the exit now ?”

Why don’t you open your eyes and see beyond that veil ?

“I’m already awake and with my eyes opened right now jackass.”

Then simply open them again.

“I don’t see how that’s gonna do anyth-”

You suddenly jolt awake for real this time.
Pain tingles all over your body, you feel like you’d collapse back into the void you just escaped. Your vision is completely null, the world looks like vibrant colors to you, un-assorted and in a total chaos. Maybe the pitch black void wasn’t so bad after all.

“Where the fuck am i….”

You get up as your vision slowly returns to normal.
You’re in a room. It looks like a bedroom that went through a storm.

“What the hell happened here ?”

You see a mirror and decide to approach it.
You can clearly see your reflection, with your brown hair that looks like you didn’t wash them for weeks, yellow eyes that are blinding to you, and skin as pale as paper.

“Is that really me ? I would’ve expected to look better…”
You can’t get everything in life.
Speaking of life, it seems like it’s catching up to you as a knock is heard on your door, and before you know it you’re already staring at the door opened.
The person who was knocking on the door appears to be a short woman with short blonde hair, a smile on her face and her eyes looking like 2 dots on a poorly drawn stick figure.
She also seems to be wearing some kind of suit with a red tie, and some weird green stick attached on her hip.

“You’re finally awake ! I’ve been trying for hours to get you to open this door !”
“Also where’s your standard uniform ? You don’t have your jacket or tie on, You look like someone we pulled out of the backstreets right now.”

Questions run through your head. What are backstreets, why do you need to be wearing a uniform and most importantly, what is this place.

“I don’t kno-”

“Eitherway we’re late so we gotta hurry !”

Before you get to even speak another word, you feel a grip on your arm before being dragged off by her to an unfamiliar place.

You arrive in a bright yellow/orange room, filled with screens on any wall they could fit on.

A light brown box walks up to you with the name “MALKUTH” written at the top.

“You two are finally here, welcome to the Control team !”
“Agent Oliver and agent London, you two will be working here at the glorious wing that is L corp !”

Ah right, your name.
You forgot yours up until now, which seems to be Oliver.
It’s a nice name, at least compared to London. It sounds like a stupid road name or something.

“Anyway you two will be working on abnormalities, i suppose you two know how to from having read the agent instruction manual ?”

“Yes !”

“Uhhhh….Yeah ??”

The manual is probably buried somewhere in your room, maybe you should go check on it later. For now, instinct will have to do.

“Great ! Then i guess i’ll leave you two to do your work !”

She departs right after saying that to somewhere else.

London grabs your wrist again before dragging you to another place.
A few seconds later and you’re sitting in front of a door with a green round window.
You stare through it, seeing a skull impaled on a cross with a dark red barbed crown.

“You know how work orders are right ?”

“Kind of ?”

“Great ! I’ll leave you off to deal with it then !”

She walks back on her track, probably back to the main room.
You’re left alone, in front of a door with a floating skull behind it.

There’s a screen next to it, with 4 icons of different colors arranged on it.
You press the purple one, the door opening, as you step in out of curiosity.

The door locks behind you.
The skull floats ominously in front of you.
You feel compelled to kneel in front of it and pray.

It rattles it’s jaw, and you feel compelled to say something.
Any sentence would work in that situation.

But nothing comes out of your mouth.
Not a single noise escapes from it.

The skull rattles it’s jaw again, before a yellow light flashes all over the room and the door opens.
You walk out of the unit before heading back to what seemed to be the main room of the Control team.

“Hey, you did well for your first work !”

“Thanks ?”

“I’ll go work on it now, so see ya later !”

She runs off back to the corridor you took, leaving you waiting in this room.
Some people with brown suits pass by, side eyeing you.
You ignore them as you sit on a chair and begin spinning on it.

You stop after a few seconds as you begin to immediately feel sick.
London comes back in the main room, with the barbed crown that the skull had on her head.

“What’s that ?”

“What’s what ?”

“The crown in your hair.”

“I don’t have a crown though ?”

“You do now apparently.”

She brushes her finger through her hair, before stopping when she touches the barbed crown.

“When did i get that in my hair ?!”

“Well probably when you left the room since you didn’t have it before.”

“Well does it look good on me atleast ?”

“I’d say so.”

“Great then !”
“Seems like the day is over by the way, we should probably head back to our dorms.”

“Probably.”

“See you tomorrow then !”

She walks off into another corridor, where you follow her until she walks into a room and closes the door.
There’s another one near it, which you open, leading right back to where you started the day.

You end up looking around the room, finding back the rest of your uniform, which you put on before looking at yourself in the mirror.

“I look much better with that on i guess.”

You look more professional that’s for sure.
You also find back what seems to be the agent instruction manual, which you begin to read.

A few minutes later, you got through all of it and end up putting it somewhere in a corner to find it again when needed.
And only a few seconds later you walk up to your bed and fall asleep on it.

It’s much more cozier than the floor for sure.

In another place not too far from here, a silhouette stares at light blue screens, showing all that happened that day before they all fade to black.

PROCEED TO THE NEXT DAY?
>YES
