Work Text:
You had been working at Cid’s for a few months when you first met the group of rogue clones. Immediately you had felt a pull towards one of them. You glanced from where you were cleaning as the door to the parlor opened. You heard loud laughter and smiled to yourself.
He walked in, Omega sitting on one of his shoulders. She turned and saw you. Her smile widened as she called out your name. Wrecker turned, his eyes meeting yours and you looked away quickly. You heard him make his way over to you, Omega still on his shoulder.
He said your name as he stopped in front of you. You met his eyes again, and willed your face not to flush at the grin he was giving you. Hundreds of questions that you wanted to ask the man flooded your mind, but you ignored all of them and went for your usual. “How was your mission?”
"It went good!" Omega told you. "We were wondering if you wanted to come with us to get some Mantell Mix."
As much as you wanted to say yes, you sighed. "I still have work for a few more hours, you guys can go ahead."
Wrecker frowned for a moment before smiling again. "We can just wait for you."
You flushed slightly, meeting his eyes. "Are you sure?" You asked him, trying to ignore the way your heart was pounding in your ears.
"Of course!" He told you. Wrecker set Omega down and the two of them sat down in a nearby booth.
When your shift was over, you walked over to where the two of them were still sitting. Omega looked up at you, a small grin on her face. You stopped in front of the table and Omega jumped up. "I forgot that I had something to do. You two can go together!"
You opened your mouth to object but she had already ran off. Wrecker stood up, smiling down at you. "Guess it's just us."
You smiled up at him. "Guess so." You glanced over to where Omega was now standing and saw her watching the two of you with a mischievous grin.
She winked at you and you rolled your eyes, following Wrecker outside. The two of you made pleasant conversation as you walked. You turned down a street and your foot caught on something, causing you to stumble forward. Wrecker grabbed your arm quickly, keeping you upright.
Your face flushed as you steadied yourself. “Thank you.” You said quietly, your face warm as Wrecker’s hand moved from your arm to your lower back. He guided you towards a pantoran vendor, quickly ordering a carton of the sweet-smelling snack.
The pantoran man handed Wrecker the carton and the two of you walked away. Wrecker offered you a piece and you popped one in your mouth. It was very sweet, but not unpleasant. You smiled up at him, ignoring the way your heart fluttered.
A little over a week later, you were finishing up a shift at Cid’s when the batch came inside. You smiled at them, noticing that Wrecker wasn’t there. Omega ran over to you, a wide smile on her face. “How was the mission?” You asked her as she reached you.
“It went good!” She said with a grin. “We’re going to go to this restaurant I wanted to try tonight. Do you wanna come with us?”
You smiled at the young girl. “Sure.” You looked up just as Hunter walked over to you. “Hey, Hunter.” You said, smiling at the man.
He smiled back at you. “Could you let Wrecker know about the dinner tonight. Omega wants to get a new outfit before we go, so we were about to take her to do that. Wrecker should still be in the Marauder.”
“Of course, Hunter.” You said, not missing the flicker of mischief in the man’s eyes.
The batch left with Omega and you made your way to where they always docked the Marauder. The shuttle came into view and you smiled. You lowered the ramp and made your way inside, glancing around to try and find the man. You heard movement in the barracks and made your way towards the room, opening the door and stepping inside.
“Hey, Wrecker. Hunter wanted me to let you know that-” You stopped talking abruptly, your face flushing at the realization that he was shirtless. Wrecker raised an eyebrow at you. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t know you were changing.” You told him, stumbling backwards.
Wrecker laughed. "It's okay." He assured you, taking a step towards you which caused your face to heat up even more.
“I’ll just come back later.” You told him, backing away further when you felt your foot catch on something. You fell hard, landing on your butt. Your face was burning and you heard a hearty laugh in front of you.
You stumbled to your feet, ignoring his outstretched hand. You closed your eyes, attempting to make your way out of the room without looking. You reached out an arm and felt for the wall, a small squeak coming out of you when your hand collided with skin.
Your eyes shot open and you looked up at Wrecker with wide eyes. He was watching you with an amused look on his face. You just backed away, successfully making your way out of the door this time. You quickly made your way through the ship, about to exit when you heard Wrecker behind you.
“Wait.” He said, causing you to stop in your tracks. You slowly turned to face him, forcing yourself to meet his eyes and not look at the rest of him. You swallowed thickly, your face warm. Wrecker took a step closer to you and your face somehow flushed darker.
You saw his eyes flick to your mouth momentarily, before making their way back up your face. You weren’t sure what possessed you to do so, but all common sense left your mind as you stood on your tip toes and wrapped your arms around his neck. You pulled yourself towards him, pressing your mouth to his.
Wrecker froze for a moment, most likely in shock. Sensing that you had made the wrong choice, you began to pull away from him. Wrecker brought his hands up to your face, cupping your cheeks softly as he kissed you back.
You had never expected Wrecker to be so gentle, but here he was, holding you as if you were the most precious thing that he had. You pulled away when you needed to breathe, the two of you staring at each other with flushed faces.
Doubt began to creep up into you and you pulled away from him. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have. I’ll just-” You rambled, stumbling out of the ship and practically running.
That night at dinner, you sat down at the table next to Omega. Talking to the young girl and avoiding eye contact with Wrecker. He doesn’t actually want to be with you. Why would he ever want that? You thought to yourself.
It had been weeks since you and Wrecker had kiss ed. You had been avoiding him since. You were currently cleaning inside of Cid’s. It was late and hardly anyone was inside. You heard the door open and glanced up, tensing when you saw Wrecker walk inside.
He locked eyes with you and immediately made his way towards you. You looked back down at the washcloth in your hand, focusing on the counter that you were cleaning. Wrecker said your name and you glanced up at him for a moment, forcing your face to remain neutral.
“Yes?” You asked him, glancing back down as you continued to clean the countertop.
“Why have you been avoiding me?” He asked after a moment.
You tensed slightly, but kept your eyes on the counter. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Wrecker let out a long sigh and you glanced up at him for a moment, noticing the way that the parlor’s lights reflected off of his eyes. You looked away quickly, your face flushing. “I thought you liked me.” Wrecker said after a moment. His voice was quiet, his tone sounding almost nervous.
You let out a small sigh, your resolve crumbling when you saw the sad look on his face. “I do, Wrecker.” You said slowly. “But you don’t actually want me. I mean why would you? You’re so-” Wrecker cut you off, leaning down and pressing his mouth to yours.
You dropped the washcloth, your heart hammering in your ears as you kissed him back. “I do want you.” He told you when he pulled away. “You’re so kind and funny and pretty.” Your face flushed even more at that. “I’ve thought so ever since I first met you. I just never knew how to tell you that.”
You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him towards you once more.
