In the Red Devil’s eyes, the sky cries in ugly silver. An afternoon devoid of any sun, full of dark clouds with the threat of heavy rain looming overhead. Where the air felt thick, not from the winter breeze but from the industrial smoke billowing out of the building chimneys. All of it mixed with the pungent smell coming from the rigs. The sea barriers barely kept the waves, salt water splashing hard against them. It drizzled down on the cadets and officers positioned near the imperial docks.
It's such a terrible place to be in at a time of war.
