Educator with a Bot

Summary:

Wend (a 60+ nonbinary neurodivergent marine scientist with a sampling bot) hitches a ride on a sailboat crossing the Pacific in 2039. They do some science and chase some mysterious dreams.
Wend also knows a lot of musicals by heart and credits old musicals with helping them figure out human society, so it seems natural to present their situation in a filk song of an old musical standard.

I travel on a sailboat and take samples off the side a lot

I know the phytoplankton and I dream of sea invertebrates

From sea urchins to cuttlefish to what a ray regurgitates

 

My head is full of musicals and stories biographical

I ponder over puzzles, both in time and geographical

I like hot chocolate vegan and am an experimentalist

I travel carbon free and am a strong environmentalist

 

I study microbiomes from an auto-sealing container

I struggle to make eye contact and be a good entertainer

I travel on a sailboat and take samples off the side a lot
