Kasuga is standing before him now. Worried at Eiji’s lack of response, perhaps, leaning in too close for comfort.
Oh, Eiji has a type alright: the kind who’s older and bigger than life, powerful beyond compare. It’s why he was attracted to Aoki, and part of why he’s no disgusted by the idea of sleeping with Ebina. The difference between them though, is that Aoki made him feel comfortable in his powerlessness—the type of man Eiji could relax around, take it easy, knowing he would handle everything. That sense of security Eiji never had the luxury to enjoy as a kid, the inherent power associated with older men who have their lives figured out.
