A few days ago, Pearl had made it known to all of the hermits that she would be away for a little while to go on vacation. Everyone understood and wished her well before she left. Ever since then, Gem has been excited for the day that Pearl will come back, as she misses her very much.
One day, Gem was taking what was intended to only be a short break from working on her projects, when her brain started feeling fuzzy once again. She was a little bit scared, she didn't know who to ask for help, and whoever it was, she didn't want to bother them with her talking about how much she missed Pearl. Because that's what stayed on her mind. She couldn't stop thinking about her, and although she knew that Pearl was alright, she was worrying about her as well.
Today, everyone she would normally ask was too busy to be able to help her, and they all felt bad for being unavailable. Gem didn't mind though. She understood everyone won't always be able to take care of her. But that left her wondering if there was anyone else around who she would trust enough to ask. That's when it hit her.
Grian was nearby, just hanging around his base, not really doing much. He used to be a lot busier with fishing, but now he just hangs out around people and does work when he can. Right now, he didn't seem to be doing much of anything.
She hadn't been taken care of by Grian before, but Grian did have experience with babysitting in the past, so she thought it would be a good idea to ask if he'd be willing to help her. So she messaged him asking if he could come over.
Grian knew that Gem was a regressor, just like all of the other hermits knew. But he didn't really see that side of Gem much, as when she was small, someone else would always be taking care of her, likely at her base. So when Gem reached out to him asking if he could take care of her for the day, Grian was pleasantly surprised. He didn't know if Gem would even trust him in that situation. It had been a while since he babysat any of the hermits, and the last one he did babysit was Scar. But he told Gem that he would gladly be right over to help her.
"Hello little Gem," Grian says with a caring tone as he finds her at her base. "You need me to take care of you for the day, is that right?"
"Mhm," Gem says, shyly. "I hope das otay. I kno chu never seen me small befowe."
"Of course it's okay, little one," Grian says with a smile. "I'll do the best I can to take care of you."
"Fank chu Grian," Gem says, still a little bit shy, but she was already warming up to Grian's caring tone.
"You're very welcome," Grian replies. "Do you know anything I can help you with right now? Or do you just want me around? I've been free all day, I don't mind being here with you."
"Hmm, I dunno," Gem says. "I fink I jus wan chu around. I don't weally need help with doin anyfin right nows... I jus feewin sad."
"Aww, why's that little fawn?" Grian asks. "What's got you down? You can tell me."
"I jus weally miss Pearlie," Gem says as she begins to tear up. "I hope she's otay."
"Aww, I know you do, little Gem," Grian says reassuringly. "We all miss Pearl. She'll be back soon though, okay? She said she'd only be gone a few days, a week at most."
"Mhms, I know," Gem says sadly. "But I still worryin bout her. Can't help it."
"I know how that feels, little deer," Grian says softly. "I worry about her at times too. She works so hard, I think she deserved a vacation."
Gem simply nods in response. "Pearl will be okay though sweetheart, I promise you that," Grian reassures Gem. "She'll be back before you know it."
"Otay. I know dat," Gem says. "Is just weally hard to no fink bouts. Even if I kno she otay, I still feew scawed. Like somfin couwd happen to her."
"Mhm, I understand that perfectly, little Gem," Grian says. "She'll be okay, I promise."
Gem nods sadly in response. "Come here, sweet fawn, let me give you a hug," Grian says. "Hugs make everything better, even if just a little bit, don't you agree?"
"Mhms." Gem says, and she holds onto Grian tightly as they share a hug.
"Now, I know what you probably need for right now is a distraction," Grian says. "Do you want to see what I've been up to? Maybe say hello to some other hermits as well?"
"Dat sounds nice," Gem responds. "I would wike dat."
"Okay then sweet Gem, let's head to my base first, okay?" Grian says, and Gem nods in response. The two of them then head over to Grian's base on the side of the mountain, with his old fishing dock nearby.
"I've been working a bit slowly compared to everyone else," Grian says as he and Gem take a look around. "But I'm still gradually getting things done. That's what's important."
"Mhms," Gem says. "Chu base is nice. I wike it."
"Aww, thank you little one," Grian softly chuckles and smiles. "I appreciate that."
"I still no believe how long it took chu fishin to get da mending book," Gem giggles. "Evewytim I see chu fishin dock, it reminds me of dat."
"Yeah, I know," Grian chuckles again. "I sure am glad those days are over."
Gem giggles again, remembering Grian's fisherman antics.
"Now, how about we go see what the other hermits are up to?" Grian asks. "It'd be nice to stop by and say hello, wouldn't it?"
"Mhm!" Gem says.
Grian and Gem go around to see what their neighbors on magic mountain have been up to.
Their first stop is Scar's zoo train. "Scar, you around?" Grian asks, calling out for Scar. "There's a special little Gem who wants to see you!" This made Gem giggle again.
Scar comes out of the train upon hearing Gem and Grian outside.
"Why hello there, little one," Scar says to Gem, giving her a little pat on the head. "It's so nice to see you."
"Hewwo Scar!" Gem says happily. "Is nice to see chu too!"
"We're just going around the mountain together and seeing what everyone is up to." Grian says.
"I see, would you like to see what I've just added to my train?" Scar asks. "It's one of the final additions before I start the zoo!"
"Ooh yes pwease!" Gem says excitedly.
Scar leads Gem and Grian to the newest addition of the zoo train, the hostile mob car. "Now be careful, little Gem, don't go too close," Scar warns. "There's going to be some monsters in there. I wouldn't want any of them coming out towards you."
Gem nods understandingly. "Das so cool! Chu so brave handling monsters wike dat!" Gem says enthusiastically.
"Why thank you little Gem," Scar smiles. "I always try to be."
"I think we'll head off to talk to someone else now Scar," Grian says. "It was nice seeing you!"
"I agree, it was nice to see you and little Gem here," Scar says happily. "It made my day a little more exciting. I'll see you around!"
"Who should we talk to next, little deer?" Grian asks. "I think let's just go in order around the mountain, until we get back to your base."
"Otay!" Gem says excitedly.
With that plan in mind, the next stop was Mumbo's base. Grian and Gem arrive at his base, and use his redstone elevator to reach the buildings.
"Mumbo, you here?" Grian asks.
Mumbo comes out of Big Ron's to greet Grian and Gem. "Hello, I'm here," Mumbo says. "I've just been working around."
"Gem and I are going around magic mountain seeing what everyone is up to," Grian says. "I'm sure little Gem here is very happy to see you."
"Aww that's nice," Mumbo says happily. "Hello little Gem! It's nice to see you!"
"Hewwo Mumbo!" Gem says excitedly. "Is nice to see chu too!"
"What have you been up to here, Mumbo?" Grian asks. "We'd love to know."
"I've been trying to work on the rest of the buildings up here," Mumbo says. "I just finished planning out the frames for the rest of them. I'm setting a goal for myself to get them all done in the next few months."
"Das cool!" Gem says, and Grian nods in agreement. "Chu gettin a lot better at buildin, evewyfin comin together nicely."
"Why thank you little fawn, that means a lot," Mumbo replies. "I'm glad you like my buildings so far. I hope you're looking forward to seeing the rest of them come together."
"Mhms!" Gem says. "Vewy excited!"
Mumbo smiles, taking Gem's sweet compliment to heart.
"I think we'll head off to talk to someone else now, Mumbo, but it was nice seeing you!" Grian says.
"Alright, thanks for stopping by!" Mumbo says happily. "It was nice seeing you two!"
Grian and Gem then make their way to Joel's base, which was being connected to Impulse's. They walk up the streets to see Joel outside working on a building.
"Ooh, visitors," Joel says happily. "Hello Grian, hello Gem!"
"Hello Joel!" Grian says. "We're just taking a trip around the mountain to say hello to everyone, see what they're up to."
"Hewwo Joel!" Gem says happily.
"I see," Joel says. "I was just in the middle of working on another building, that's about it currently. Progress has been slow."
"That's fair," Grian says. "Gem and I are still happy to stop by and say hi. Isn't that right, little one?"
"Mhm!" Gem says enthusiastically. "I weally happy to see what evewyone doin!"
"Aww, that's nice of you, sweet fawn," Joel says. "I hope you like what I've been doing here so far."
"Mhm! It's weally cool! Chu a gweat fit on da server." Gem says happily.
"Why thank you, little Gem, I'm glad you like it," Joel says happily. "It's nice to see you."
"Is nice to see chu too, Joel!" Gem smiles.
"We'll be heading off to see what Impulse is up to, I think," Grian says happily. "It was nice to see you, Joel."
"Okay, have fun!" Joel says. "It was nice to see you two!"
Joel continues working, and Grian and Gem head to Impulse's city nearby.
"Hello Impulse!" Grian greets Impulse joyfully.
"Hello Grian! Hello little Gem!" Impulse says. "I've heard you two are stopping by to say hello to everyone."
"Why yes actually," Grian chuckles. "How'd you know?"
"Scar told me to be expecting you to stop by," Impulse says. "He knew I'd be happy to see you two."
"That's very nice of him!" Grian says. "What have you been up to?"
"Oh you know, not too much out of the ordinary. Mainly just working on building up the city." Impulse says. "Joel and I might try to make plans to connect our bases up more sometime soon as well. Haven't got there yet though."
"Well that's exciting!" Grian says. "I'm looking forward to seeing how you two connect your bases together."
"Me too!" Gem says excitedly.
"Thank you Grian, and thank you as well, little Gem," Impulse says, giving Gem a pat on the head. "I'm looking forward to it as well."
"We only have one more person to see after you, that being Skizz," Grian says. "Today's been a pretty fun day for us, hasn't it Gem?"
"Mhm! I so happy to see evewyone!" Gem says happily.
"Aww, well that's nice. I'm glad you two are having fun." Impulse says with a smile.
"We'll head off to see Skizz now, before it gets too late," Grian says. "It was nice to see you!"
"Okay! It was nice to see you two as well," Impulse says happily. "Bye Grian, bye bye little Gem!" Impulse waves goodbye to Grian and Gem.
"Bye bye Impy!" Gem says happily, and waves back.
As Grian had told Impulse, his and Gem's last stop around the mountain was Skizz's pyramid.
"Hello Skizz!" Grian says. "Gem and I have been going around the mountain, we just wanted to say hello to everyone. What have you been up to?"
"Hello Grian! Hello Gemstone! It's nice to see you two," Skizz says. "I've just been working on my pyramid. I haven't been up to that much."
"Ahh, I see," Grian says. "Well, we're happy to see you."
"Hewwo Skizzie!" Gem says happily. "I wike chu pyramid! I hope chu no tired of hearing dat." Gem giggles.
"Of course not!" Skizz smiles. "Thank you so much Gemstone, that means a lot."
"Chu vewy welcome Skizzie!" Gem smiles.
"You're just such a sweet little fawn," Skizz says as he gently rustles her hair. "I'm sure everyone has been so happy to see you today."
"Mhms!" Gem replies. "I been happy to see evewyone too! I wub my fwens!"
"Aww, that's so sweet." Skizz says.
"I completely agree, Skizz," Grian says happily. "Gem is definitely a very special and precious little fawn." Gem giggles very happily upon hearing all of this.
"Fank chu Grian! Fank chu Skizzie!" Gem says happily.
"Why of course, little one," Grian says. "We both mean every word." Skizz nods in agreement.
"Well, I think we better head back to Gem's base now, it's getting late. See you around Skizz!" Grian says. "It was very nice to see you!"
"It was nice to see you two as well," Skizz says happily. "See you around!"
Gem and Grian then both head back to Gem's base, as it was getting late, and Gem needed to get some rest.
"Here we are little Gem," Grian says with a smile. "I hope you had fun today."
"Mhms, I had lots of fun!" Gem exclaims happily. "Fank chu for bein wif me today!"
"You're very welcome, sweet little fawn." Grian says happily.
Right as Grian is about to leave, he spots Pearl coming to see them. She finally got back from her vacation!
"Ooh wait a second," Grian says excitedly as he spots Pearl. "Look who it is, little Gem!"
Gem gasps as she sees Pearl, who had now reached Gem's base to greet them before heading to her own.
"Pearlie!" Gem says very excitedly. "Chu back! I missed chu!"
"Aww, hello sweet little deer," Pearl says happily upon hearing how excited Gem was to see her. "I missed you too, so very much."
"Did chu have fun vacation?" Gem asked.
"Yes I did, little one. It was a much needed break," Pearl says. "I really enjoyed it, but I'm glad to be back home now."
"I glad chu had good break," Gem says. "Chu deserved it after working so hawd for so long."
"Thank you, sweet little fawn," Pearl said. "I'm glad to be back with you now though. I hope you were okay while I was gone."
"Mhm! Grian took cawe of me today, we went round da mountain and said hi to evewyone! Was so much fun!" Gem said, excited to tell Pearl about the day's adventures.
"Aww, I'm glad you had fun, little Gem." Pearl said, happy to hear Gem was still okay without her.
"Mhm! I glad chu back though Pearlie, I missed chu lots!" Gem exclaims.
"I missed you too, sweet fawn." Pearl said with a smile.
"Okay, I'm gonna head back to my base now, I'll see you two later," Grian says. "Bye bye little Gem, I'm glad you had fun today!"
"Bye bye Grian!" Gem says. "See chu later!"
"See you later, Grian!" Pearl says, and Grian leaves to go back to his base.
"Now little deer, I have to get going back to my base as well so I can get settled back in, okay?" Pearl says. "I'll see you around in the morning, you get some rest."
"Otay, ni ni, I see chu tomowow!" Gem says happily. "You get some rest too. I wub chu Pearlie!"
"I will, little fawn, don't you worry," Pearl says. "Goodnight, I love you so much."
Pearl then leaves to go to her base, and Gem goes inside to go to sleep. She slept peacefully tonight, knowing that Pearl is back and is safe, and she was very happy with the day she had today.
