Work Text:
Fit had never understood the rules death followed on Quesadilla Island.
It was unlike any world he had ever been to.
He knew that usually people would drop first and die after a timer.
He knew that the issued communicator would send a message in global chat.
He knew people could die permanently but not usually.
He knew that Pac was dead.
He knew Tubbo would be next.
~
It was a good day.
Seeing Pac again after their date the day before filled Fit with an unfamiliar warm feeling he never wanted to let go of again. They had spent the day meeting up with Tubbo, Bagi, and Phil and were now sitting around a screen set up at Spawn to watch some video about Tubbo’s platonic husband.
Fit wasn’t paying attention. Not when Pac was sitting right there. His grin spread across his face battling the brightness of the afternoon sun.
Their hands were almost touching. They could hold hands. Right here, in public surrounded by friends. No one would bat an eye. The thought alone made Fit dizzy.
That and Pac’s hair swaying in the wind, his eyes creasing with his smile. The way his hand was so – incredibly – close –
“You didn’t kiss after the first date? That’s weird”
Pac was looking back at him, Fit had been caught, he only realized what Pac had said as they had already turned away from each other again.
Pac covered his smile and red cheeks behind his hands as Fit felt his face grow hotter.
Thoughts swirling in his head even he himself couldn’t decipher.
Ramon gave him an out and they left the little group. Walking around the corner to catch some air. He laughed it off and after not too long Pac found them. Of course, he did. He and Fit were like magnets constantly pulling each other in. Like a thread connected them, they simply had to follow to find the other. Like they just knew where the other was at any time. Like a diver looking for the surface of the water to stop from drowning.
They found themselves on an afternoon walk. The sun slowly setting. Their hands brushed against each other ever so often. The need to just intertwine them overtakes every thought in Fit’s mind.
Ramon had run off with Richarlyson, and Fit couldn’t be happier that the two were getting along. Their little family. The thought made Fit giddy with joy. Things were working out.
Things were good.
Pac stopped him with a tug on his hand. Fit was about to question it when a hand on his cheek silenced him.
“I’m sorry Fitchi!”
Fit looked at him confused, “For what Pac, you don’t need to-“
Pac shook his head, “The joke. I don’t care that we haven’t kissed yet, you know. We can wait, baby steps, right? I don’t care!”
A soft smile spread across Fit’s face that familiar warm feeling swelling in his chest, “I know Pac. Thank you. I really appreciate it! Sorry for being so-“, he made a vague hand gesture. Pac shook his head more viciously, “No, I get it, I mean, don’t make me wait forever you know, but it’s fine! Really!”
Fit stared into his boyfriend's golden eyes.
“We don’t have to wait at all”
Fit didn’t know what possessed him to say that but looking at the red creeping up Pac’s cheek as he looked at Fit like a deer in headlight made him refuse to take it back.
“Que? What-?”, Pac struggled to form a coherent sentence so Fit silenced him with the long-awaited kiss.
Their lips meeting was everything Fit imagined it to be, soft and warm and incredible. Tasting like Pac and everything that made Fit love the Brazilian.
The kiss didn’t last long, barely a peck, but Pac immediately pulled him in for another one. His arms looped around the other’s shoulders. they were suddenly incredibly close and Fit felt like drowning in all that was Pac. All the warmth the other radiated. The love they expressed through their mouths moving against each other. The tingle every inch of skin contact set off. They pulled apart as their breath grew short. Panting heavily, Pac stepped back a bit, putting about an arm's length between them. Grinning at Fit, his eyes sparkling. Fit couldn’t help the grin spreading on his own face. He didn’t even care about it. It was only him and Pac. The rest of the world didn’t matter. All the pain and sorrow they once experienced seemed so impossibly far away as they stared into each other's eyes. Taking in the other's presence. Living in the moment.
Things were good. They were so incredibly good.
Fit couldn’t be happier, he was about to say something or pull Pac back into a kiss, he hadn’t decided yet as something hit the Brazilian hard enough to throw him to the side. The same thing exploded as Pac hit the ground. Fit managed to turn his own body away fast enough to not get hurt, bringing the perpetrator into view.
Tubbo stood in the middle of the path, arm still raised from throwing the bomb, a laugh on his face. Fit was about to half-jokingly attack the kid to scare him for daring to hurt Fit’s boyfriend and ruin the moment as both their communicators vibrated.
Pactw has passed away.
Fit’s world tunnel-visioned on the notification.
That was not how death messages work.
He was supposed to be bleeding.
Fit was supposed to have time to teach Tubbo a lesson and make it back to get his boyfriend back up without breaking into a sweat.
His boyfriend.
His boyfriend.
He bee-lined for the crater left in the ground.
Pac was at the side of it, his body twisted, his face turned into the mud. Skin burned, ashy at places that weren’t irritated red, or even black. The smell of burned flesh and scorched grass.
This wasn’t how corpses looked here.
This wasn’t how today was supposed to go.
Pac was supposed to be alive, crawling towards him. Laughing. Joking.
Even if Fit would have been too slow. In that off chance, he would have let his boyfriend down and had been too late. Pac’s body would have turned stiff, like a stick figure. Not a scratch as his real body reassembled wherever his spawn point was set.
But Pac was dead.
Truly dead.
Permanently.
“What the fuck?,” Tubbo had stepped next to him.
Maybe things would have ended differently if he hadn’t.
If Tubbo had realized what happened and hid away.
If he had waited until Fit’s mind caught up. Until grief had swallowed him hole. Until he wanted nothing but to curl up into a ball and cry until he stopped feeling this indescribable pain of losing his one true love.
The man that had waltzed through his carefully built walls like they were made of rice paper.
The man that Fit finally accepted into his life as love. Vulnerable and beautiful and so indescribably strong and overpowering.
Maybe things would have turned out differently if Tubbo had just waited for reality to catch up with Fit.
Instead, all Fit felt was anger. Instead, Fit’s metal arm connected with Tubbo’s face. He didn’t hold back like usual. He felt Tubbo’s nose break. He heard it echo through his skull and momentarily overshadow the blood rushing in his ears. Tubbo stumbled back, his hands grasping his face, blood flooding its lower half like a damn had been broken. It coated Tubbo’s fingers red in seconds. It dripped onto his shirt. It mixed with the tears escaping Tubbo’s eyes.
The smell of iron mixed with that of gunpowder.
Tubbo hadn’t stopped stumbling as Fit’s shin hit him in the side. Tubbo fell to the ground at the edge of the crater. Fit didn’t give him time to react, bringing his heavy military boot down on Tubbo’s ribcage. He heard the cracks of the fragile bones breaking. Tubbo screamed, Fit barely registered it. Summoning his trident, Tubbo wasn’t even trying to defend himself. The trident punctured Tubbo’s neck. Blood gushing out of it as Fit pulled it back out. Blood was coating the younger’s Teeth. He tried to say something, it looked like he was gurgling a weirdly red mouthwash. Fit felt his communicator vibrate.
Tubbo_ is bleeding.
Fit looked down at the struggling kid underneath him. He looked over to his lover's corpse laying unchanged at the other side of the crater.
He brought down the trident again.
Tubbo_ was slain by FitMC using [Ramon’s Dragon Spear].
People were running up to them now. They had been asking what was happening in chat before. Everything had happened so fast. One look back at Pac and Fit started sprinting towards Tubbo’s base.
Tubbo was already at his bed, Fit slammed him into the ground, an unnatural growl escaping his mouth.
Tubbo_ is bleeding. Tubbo_ has been slain by FitMC.
“Run!” was all he said as Tubbo respawned in front of him. Tubbo took off. Fit didn’t follow.
He had read up on Redstone since he had arrived here.
He was quick to craft some pistons that would push Tubbo down into a hole filled with lava. Cobwebs on top of it for good measure, ensuring a slow descent into his certain death. Encasing it all with obsidian with practice ease.
He took off following Tubbo once the trap was done to his satisfaction. It didn’t take long. The boy was talking to Phil. Well, more like screaming, panic fluctuating in his voice as he tried to explain the situation. Fit didn’t even try to hold back in front of the other. He pounded into Tubbo. Beating him until his face was unrecognizable. Holding the body down and just punching into it until that satisfying buzz at his wrist informed him of his friend's death.
Tubbo_ is bleeding. Tubbo_ has been slain by FitMC.
Fit made it back to the now spawn-trapped Tubbo. Phil had been talking to him the entire time. Trying to get through to him. Trying to make Fit stop.
Fit didn’t listen. He didn’t care. Pac was dead. His body is still mangled at the side of that crater. His name was nowhere on the map. He was dead. Gone. And it was all Tubbo’s fault.
They could hear the boy’s screams through the obsidian. Pleads of mercy.
Fit felt nothing. Phil stepped forward to break the Obsidian, to free the struggling Brit.
“Don’t!” Fit’s voice was low. A growl if anything. Phil turned to him, “Listen, mate, I think I understand what happened, but it was an accident, you can’t –“
“Step away from it!”
Phil complied, but he didn’t shut up. Fit wasn’t listening. He felt that familiar tingle in his left arm. His hack client coming to life. The tingle turned into pain. He would die if he were to use it. It wasn’t meant to work here.
Something caught his eye.
Ramon was looking at him. Bagi by his side, holding the dragonling back. Fit made eye contact with his son.
Fit knew what he looked like, blood covering his body that wasn’t his own, his arm glowing an unnatural light, his eyes crazed and full of sorrow. His breathing grew heavy. He was all Ramon had left. There was no one else. Tears ran down Fit’s cheek. His son had watched. All of this. Had seen his true side. There was no going back from this.
He let the hack client activate. Pulling out barrier blocks. He started encasing the obsidian.
It hurt like hell. The server fighting the unwelcome code. He felt himself growing weaker. His movements grew heavy. His breathing slowed. The sobs trying to escape were muffled and accompanied by pained gasps. He ran out of tears to cry.
He finished.
All of it was done in the company of Tubbo’s cries of agony. Interrupted every time he finally died. Only to start up again as Tubbo was pushed into the cobwebs leading him to his death. Again.
A constant buzzing on his communicator.

Fit was done. He stepped next to Philza. The crow had stopped talking, just watching his old friend in horror. Fit could barely walk.
“Will you take Ramon in?”
“Of course”
Fit looked back at his son. His beautiful smart baby boy made in heaven by God himself.
“Take care of him will ya!”
Fit didn’t hear Phil’s answer. He barely felt the pain as he fell to the ground. His vision going even more blurry than it had already been. He saw a figure running towards him. He closed his eyes.
FitMC has passed away.
