Summary
Colin is awoken by his housekeeper one morning to learn a child has been dropped on his doorstep. A letter buried in the blankets reveals the child is a product of the few clandestine and scandalous nights he and Pen spent together. But Penelope unexpectedly fled to Ireland at night and Colin had not heard from her since.
Penelope is staying at Lady Danbury's until she can return to Ireland. Lady D had written to Penelope when she mysteriously disappeared in the middle of the season. Penelope eventually confessed she was pregnant and wanted her child to be placed in Colin's care.
