AUGUST 27th, 2006, LOST CREEK WEST VIRGINIA, 8:07 PM
TV: “BUY NOW AND GET ANOTHER ONE FREE! THAT'S RIGHT, ANOTHER SET FREE! SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? BUY YOURS TODAY!”
“Jesus, can the people on these commercials be any louder?” Marcus says to himself. Sitting down on the raggedy old couch in his, much more raggedy apartment, with him in his right hand was a bowl of stale cheerios swimming in day old milk, not yet spoiled, just..tasted a little funny. In his left hand, a plastic spoon and a vanilla coca-cola. It was a humid and dim summer evening, not completely dark, but you could see the sun beginning to set over the horizon.
While waiting for his show to come on, an advertisement blares loudly at him through his TV screen, nothing new since he can't afford cable, or..a new remote to turn the volume down.
“ARE YOU TIRED OF THE SAME OLD BLAND, DEPRESSING CEREAL THAT TASTE LIKE YOU'RE BITING INTO STYROFOAM?”
Marc looks down at *his* old, bland, depressing cereal that tastes like styrofoam.
“WELL LOOK NO FURTHER, BLUEBERRY BROWNIE GALAXY CHOMP-CHOMPS HAS GOT YOU COVERED! DIG INTO THESE TASTY BLUEBERRY BROWNIE GALAXY CHOMP-CHOMPS AND YOU'LL FEEL LIKE A MILLION BUCKS, SO, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GET YOURS NOW AT YOUR LOCAL GROCERY STORE, AND YOU TELL ME IF YOU FEEL THE GALAXY!”
Marc would usually just glance over these commercials and think nothing of them, but at that moment, he was really looking forward to some blueberry brownie galaxy chomp-chomps, he hasn't had them since he was a kid, then he thought about everything in his fridge..well..lack there of it, with half a diet pepsi and a slice of marble cheesecake, he needed a grocery store trip. With 19.87 dollars in his pocket, he put his bland tasteless cereal aside and slid his sandals on and headed out his door to the nearest market.
8:56 PM
Arriving at the store, he takes a basket and immediately heads for the cereal aisle, searching for the box of cereal he wholeheartedly desired. He found it, picked it up, and continued shopping. He picked up a box of cosmic brownies, a bag of marshmallows, a pint of chocolate brownie ice cream, and another entire marble cheesecake for himself, and a pack of fruit snacks for..health.
Marc has always had what you would call a “sweet tooth” but no one thinks it's just one tooth, it might be his whole set of teeth, upper and lower, Hasn't touched a savory food in a little over 3 years. Considering all this sugar he is consuming, Marc is only 128 lbs (58 kg) standing a little over 5,7ft. (this isn't really important, just wanted to give more detail about the MC)
9:02 PM
Marc got the items in his car and drove off. Driving down a desolate road about 3 miles from his home, a little frustrated he had to take a detour, because of all the construction around the store he was at, but hey, you live on.
In his mind, Marc remembered seeing the muffler of his car dragging on the ground when he got out of the store, he didn't think anything of it, but now it is worrying him, considering it is now almost dark, and everything around him is either farm or trees, he hoped and prayed his car didn't give out on him.
Oh well, surprise surprise, it did.
Halfway through the drive back home, the engine started to make a popping sound and emitting black smoke from his car, which..isn't good, his muffler was about to fall off as well. “should've given it a second thought” he thought to himself, as he leaned back, sighed, and got out to see what the issue was, but it wasn't his original idea of what he was going to see.
There on the back of his car, his engine looked like it was about to explode, for some reason his tires were slashed to oblivion..oh and his muffler fell off. how did he even get this far without noticing? Who the hell did this? Was it an animal? thoughts raced through his head like a nascar competition and he started to worry, his “house” is almost 3 miles away and its pitch black outside, and only crackheads and hookers live in his town so no way anyone was coming down the street. He took the spare flashlight and switchblade he kept in his car and started to walk down the road, praying to god there might be a mechanic or even a gas station.
9:48 PM
Marc had been walking along the road hoping to find the smallest amount of life or help he needed, he was desperate to find at least something. The temperature had also gone down to a chill 65 degrees, which wouldn't really be a problem, but he had on jorts and a regular graphic T-shirt, and no jacket or even socks, so yeah he was pretty cold. He’d jump at the slightest of noises too, like trees swaying in the wind or stepping on a crunchy leaf, But even so, he tread on and moved forward.
10:03 PM
Almost given up, Marc looks down at his cold, dry, almost blue hands and arms, wishing he was back home eating his Blueberry Brow..you get the idea. Then, He didn't know if god was looking out for him, or he was just stupid and didn't see it, but he saw the faintest of light and a almost visible trail down by one of the small clearings in the woods, Never has he smiled so much in his life until this moment, he practically sprinted down into the woods and towards the faint light. getting hit by twigs and thorns in the process, he didn't care, all he wanted to do was get home.
When he got to the clearing, he turned on his flashlight to the highest setting and looked around, he noticed that it was a small trailer park, abandoned at that, no windows on any trailer, nor doors, and most of them were boarded up, except for one, where the light was coming from, this one wasn't nicer than the others, in fact, it looked a little worse, graffiti everywhere and rotting wood, the only thing different was there was a tiny garage next to it, which looked like it was on the verge of collapse.
He took a deep breath, hoping it wasn't a killer or a rabid dog in there, he took slow steps forward to the house. He noticed the only actual light that he saw was coming from a small lantern in the front yard, which was odd, since he didn't know he could've seen it that far away. not really giving too much thought, he walked up to the front door and knocked.
The house was pitch black, maybe the people were sleeping, he didn't know, didn't care. All he wanted was to fix his damn car. Not giving it a second thought, he swung the door slightly and went inside.
Upon entering, he noticed the trailer was next to empty, the living room only containing a beat up couch, a broken lamp, and a small wooden rocking chair in the corner.
“I dont think someone has stepped in this house since the 90s..the 1890s” Marc said to himself, trying to stay quiet.
“Nothing to fix my damn car here.” He said as well, seemingly very annoyed (I would think so) He ventured into the kitchen, there were 2 cabinets, a dirty fridge, and an even dirtier stove, which stunk of mildew and rotting..everything. He opened the cabinets to find a can of corn, a bag of flour, and a vanilla cake mix, not his favorite, he prefers chocolate. In the other cabinet were a pair of pliers, a couple steel wires, and vegetable oil. He was more than happy to find the pliers and wire, maybe he could do something with that. He took them out, set them aside on the counter to save them for later if he found anything else, and headed toward the back door which led to the small garage out back.
The garage was almost vacant. 2 shelves which held 2 gasoline tanks, and a hacksaw.
“Why the hell is there a saw? I don't see any signs of sawing around here”. Marc thought to himself as he walked toward the circular door on the ground in the corner of the garage.
..
“Wait..why the hell is this here?”
Marc asked himself, as he looked down at the ground to the circular entrance in the ground of this garage, the door was steel or metal of some kind, with a latch to pull it open. I think you'd have to be the stupidest person on the entire planet to open this thing AT NIGHT with nothing on you but a blade and a flashlight I mean come on this is just a death trap!
That's what he thinks to himself as he opens it and steps down the metal ladder into the hole.
10:51 PM
Marc leads his way down into the..I don't know a basement? The basement. He leads his way down into the basement. climbing down the ladder one by one. One side of his brain is thinking “this is a terrible idea and you're going to be killed”, the other is thinking “this is a great ass idea, you're so smart Marcus!”, of course he was listening to the other side. He made his way down safely and looked at his surroundings. In Front of him was a narrow, dimly lit, dirty hallway with a dirt floor and wooden support beams on the ceiling. As he went down he looked around and saw the whole hallway was just dirt, just hollowed out and supported by wooden beams to keep it from caving, “whoever the builder of this place is, needed to learn a thing or two”, he said, giggling at his own joke
When he got to the end of the hallway, there was a left side and a right side, the right side looked more lit up, so he went down that way.
He came across a room
This room was from something close to a nightmare. the walls and floor were made of white tile, all across it blood had been splattered, it looked dry as well, like it had been there for ages. There was also fresh blood, laid out across the floor, mostly in puddles or splatters on the walls. Inside the room was a hospital bed, dirty, bloodied up, and torn. A table laid next to it, upon it were syringes of all shapes and sizes, never cleaned I imagine, and various surgeon tools like scalpels and scissors, also never cleaned. And what the star of the show would be, a gigantic almost cartoonish circular saw right above the bed, reasons why? I think you could come up with a few.
The room was lit up by 2 rectangular lights on the ceiling, constantly flickering, giving the room a dull, almost blue-ish hue.
Marc is shaken with fear, “what kind of demonic place is this? I've only seen this type of shit in movies, who would do..why would..eugh..” he runs to the corner, throwing up all of his remaining cheerios and coke in his stomach, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. He ran to the exit, but the door he came in was locked. fuck, he forgot to leave it open.
On the other side of the room was another door, he had no other option, he walked anxiously toward it.
room after room, it only got worse.
The next door he came into was, almost like a butcher, he saw rotting meat hanging from rusty hooks. It wasn't just a cow, or pig, it was what looked to be human, and whatever he had leftover in his stomach, yeah it was gone. He saw human limbs chopped off and put into bags, piles of human flesh in one room to the next. One room had rusty cages only god knows what was in them. Only god knows what happened to these innocent, poor people who had been unrightfully taken from their existence.
11:01 PM
Desperately trying to find an exit from this horrid nightmare of a place, Marc runs frantically from room to room, looking for a morsel of freedom.
Walking into a room with a boiler and a holding cell, Marc stops dead in his tracks, he freezes in absolute terror, what he dreaded the most as soon as he walked into the hellhole.
Footsteps that weren't his own.
They were a man's footsteps, heavy but fast. I'm dying tonight, he told himself. This is the last night I live, he said.
As the footsteps unfortunately get louder, I turn around ever so slowly to see who was coming up behind me. In the walkway of the door stood a man. Marc's body froze in complete and utter horror. All he could do was stare and analyze until one of them did something. The man stared back with the most dead blank expression.
The man was tall, almost too tall at that, estimating 6,5 ft. broad shouldered, bright blonde medium length hair. Maybe mid 20s, wearing a black wife beater with greenish brown dirty cargo pants with black combat boots. blood on each piece of his clothing, including the dog tag he wore around his neck. His skin spattered with fresh blood,
Oh and he was holding an ax, bloody of course, why wouldn't it be?
“Are you lost?” The man broke silence as he spoke.
Marc couldn't say anything, He was about to piss his damn jorts, he couldn't utter a single word.
“You have a mouth and vocal cords, buddy, say something before you dont”
“U-uh y-yea-h - I-uh” Marc struggles but manages to spit out yes, before he could continue the man interrupts him.
“I’ll let you go, but don't come down here again, here me?”
“Y-YES! I mea-n y-es..”
“go, the exit is that way” The man points to the left hallway next to the room they are in.
“Th-than-kss”
He really doesn't want to walk past him, but he manages. he enters the hallway and walks down, but the exit doesn't seem to be here, because the room he enters in just a dirty old bed with green sheets and white pillow, a chair, and a chain hooked onto the be-
He turned around to see the man swinging a wooden beam directly toward his head.
That's the last thing he saw before he passed out.
