Chapter 1: The New Guy
Chapter Text
People will look at Jason and Calypso and think that they aren't happy together. I mean, their parents did place them in an arranged marriage. But that isn't the case. They actually love each other. The reason for their dissatisfaction is that they haven't managed to find a good third for their relationship. All the others either felt pressured to want what they wanted or were only in it for personal gain. They thought they would never find what they wanted until...
"Your Majesties, I am Sir Leo Valdez, and I am going to be your new bodyguard!" said the short, elvish boy while bowing.
"Excuse me, Sir Valdez," said Calypso, "I need to excuse my husband and I momentarily."
"It's alright!" The knight beamed. The princess grabbed her husband and went into their bathroom.
"OH MY GOD! That boy is exactly our type, Jason!" Calypso squealed with delight.
"How would we know that he won't end up like all the others?" Jason questioned.
"He already is in a pretty powerful position as our personal bodyguard and knights aren't easily rattled." Calypso argued.
"Well, let's take things slow first, we don't want to overwhelm him. We'll flirt with him, see if he's bisexual and willing to date two people, and THEN we ask him out. Alright?" Jason explained
"Fineeee." Calypso groaned. She wanted to have Leo on her lips already, but Jason's plan did make sense, and she always had a problem with coming on too strong. Calypso and Jason left the bathroom to find Leo, sword in hand, standing over something.
"Oh, Your Majesties! A rat got into your room, I panicked and stabbed it. On the bright side, the blood didn't seem to get anywhere." Leo sheepishly said. The two royals just looked down at the young knight and smiled.
"I have a feeling you're going to make an excellent bodyguard, Sir Valdez." Jason said, smiling.
"I agree." said Calypso, barely holding back a giggle.
"Well, I'm pleased to serve you, Your Majesties!" Leo bowed once again, happy that he was assigned this job. Little did he know, the other two had plans.
Chapter 2: Flirtation IS a Sincere Form of Flattery
Summary:
Leo appreciates all the flirting and decides to pay it back.
Chapter Text
For the past two weeks, Leo has noticed the royal couple being very.... seductive with him. From Calypso calling him her "handsome knight in shining armor" to Jason constantly complimenting his strength and skill when they play sword fight. He doesn't understand WHY they're doing it, but he'd be lying if he said he didn't like the attention.
Growing up, he never got much attention, so he wanted to return the flirtation.
"Hello, Princess Calypso!" Leo said eagerly.
"How's the most gorgeous fighter ever doing?" Calypso asked in a flirtatious manner.
"I don't know, your majesty. How ARE you and Prince Jason doing?" Leo retorted. Calypso was shocked. Never once had Leo flirted back, but the surprise was welcome.
"The prince and I are doing just fine, Sir Valdez. After all, we have the most bravest knight ever protecting us." Calypso said, getting closer.
"And I have the two most amazing royals ever to protect." After saying that, Leo kissed Calypso's hand and walked off.
"I'm telling you, Jason! We need to ask him out, pronto!" Calypso exclaimed, still frazzled over Leo's action.
"And I'm telling you that you need to calm down! You promised we weren't going to rush into things, remember?" Jason said, exasperated. He loves Calypso, but he's getting tired of reminding her that Leo is still adjusting to castle life.
"Fine, you flirt with him! You'll see when you're begging me to let you go back on your word." Calypso was confident that Jason wouldn't be able to contain himself.
The next day, Jason and Leo were lying facing each other on the grass after a match.
"I think your eyes shine brightest on days like this, your majesty." Leo said, taking in the sight of the tired prince.
"Are you trying to flatter me, Valdez?" Jason asked, chuckling. His eyes lost their shine long ago, when his older sister, Thalia, married Queen Reyna, accidentally leaving him with all the pressure of being their parents' only heir.
"I'm being sincere. Although, flirtation IS a sincere form of flattery. I just like seeing the way your eyes sparkle under the light of a clear, blue sky. It's enchanting." Leo said it so casually, but so sweetly that it left Jason stammering.
"W-well I have t-to go, uuuuhh, do important princely things. See you later, Valdez." Jason ran off, tripping over himself the entire time. Leo definitely had to be into them, but the question was, does he recognize his own feelings?
Chapter 3: Meeting the Prince of Darkness
Summary:
Calypso and Jason take Leo to the Palace of Hades so he can meet Prince Nico and Prince Will. Nico has a LOT of advice he wants to give Leo.
Notes:
Sorry for the wait. Here's Chapter 3 featuring Solangelo.
Chapter Text
Leo was sitting in the carriage with Calypso and Jason. He hadn't even asked where they were going yet.
'I guess I should probably ask where they are taking me.' Leo thought.
"You're probably wondering where we are going, Sir Valdez." Jason said. Somehow, Jason always knew what Leo was thinking.
"Well, since you've been at the castle for two months now, we decided it was time you finally meet one of our greatest allies and my closest friend, Prince Nico Di Angelo." Jason explained. This caught Leo's attention because a week ago, he was telling Princess Calypso about how he'd love to meet more royalty and get out of the castle more often.
'Did they really remember and decided to do this for ME? No.... they probably just me to familiarize myself with a powerful ally, yeah, that's it.' Leo didn't think that the prince and princess cared so much as to remember AND fulfill a desire he has.
Leo didn't have any more time to dwell on this because the carriage stopped in front of the palace. The outside of the castle was completely made of black marble. There WAS a reason as to why Nico was referred to as the Prince of Darkness. Leo got out of the carriage and helped Calypso out.
"Sir Valdez, you are much too kind." Calypso fake-swooned. She loved being over-dramatic.
"Well, who could resist a princess dressed beautifully as you, Your Majesty." Leo kissed her hand, which became his favorite thing to do after the past few weeks. Calypso's face turned pink, but before she could respond, Nico came outside.
"Jason, Calypso, my dear friends. How have you been, and who is that next to you?" Nico asked.
"Things have been going great, Nico, and this is Sir Leo Valdez, Calypso and I's personal bodyguard. He wished to meet more royalty, so we brought him to meet you and your husband."
'So this trip really was for me.' Leo thought. 'Wait, did he say husband?'
"Oh, Will is always happy to meet new people. Come in. He should be finished feeding Spot." Nico motioned for the three to follow him. As they followed him inside, Leo asked a question.
"So, who's Spot." They all turned to look at him in confusion. As he tilted his head, they all suddenly remembered that he knew nothing about other royals.
"Oh, right. Spot is my father's guard dog. He takes breaks so he can be fed." Nico responded. They kept walking until Leo saw something that caused a bit of confusion. A tan man with bright, blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and freckles was feeding the giant dog Leo assumed was Spot. Such a sunshiney-looking person looked out of place in such a dark and gloomy castle.
"Oh, Nico!" The blonde walked over and hugged Nico's side. "You didn't tell me we were having guests over, darling." The blonde planted a kiss on Nico's cheek.
"I'm sorry, Will, I was just as surprised by the visit as you are, Amore." As Nico pulled Will in for a kiss, it finally clicked in Leo's head.
"Wait, THAT'S WILL!" Leo shouted, confused. The shouting caused Will and Nico to separate, and once they realized what Leo said, Will started laughing as Nico facepalmed.
"W-who is this little guy? He's hilarious!" Will couldn't stop laughing.
"That would be Leo. He's Jason and Calypso's new bodyguard." Nico said. "I don't blame him for being surprised. Sometimes, I'm still surprised that you agreed to marry me."
Soon, the four royals began bantering as Leo got down on his knees and started playing with Spot. Spot was incredibly talented and reminded Leo of a dog he used to play with back when he was on the streets. All of a sudden, Spot jumped at Leo and started licking him.
"Woah, down boy. Heel, heel." Leo said, in between laughs. This caused the four to turn towards the knight and the dog as Spot obeyed Leo and got off of him.
Calypso began squealing as Jason awed at the sight. But Nico had a different reaction.
"If you could excuse me, I wish to speak with Sir Valdez privately. Is that alright, you teo?" Nico asked. Jason snd Calypso nodded their heads as Nico walked away with Leo. Once they were far away enough, Nico slammed Leo against the wall.
"Alright, Valdez, tell the truth. What are your intentions?" Nico asked, his voice more serious than Leo ever heard it.
"W-w-what do you mean, Your Majesty?" Leo was nervous. Knight training didn't prepare him for if a royal slammed him against a wall.
"What I mean is, what do you intend to do with Calypso and Jason? Gain their trust, then backstab them, huh?" Now Leo was confused. His job was to protect them, not hurt them. Nico analyzed the confusion on his face and realized something he should've realized earlier.
"Holy shit! You're a street kid, aren't you?" Nico put Leo down.
"Uh, yeah. Thought that was obvious. The clothes under my armor is literally made from rags and I refuse to take the clothes the prince and princess keep trying to give me. The two of them should stop trying to waste such nice clothing on me."
Nico groans. He really should've known this sooner. His demeanor was too honest and naïve for him to be noblity.
"You know what, Valdez, I'm going to give you some advice. That alright?" Nico asked. Leo nodded.
"Okay. Number 1, take the damn clothes. I know Jason, if he wants to give someone something he doesn't see it as a waste. Number 2, feel free to ask them for stuff. They seem to care about you a lot. Just don't abuse it. And finally, Number 3, they're both bi and poly. Take that information as you will. Now, let's head back to the others."
Leo was confused. Every interaction he had with royalty always ended up with him like this. When the group reunited, Nico said the three should head back before it gets dark. As Calypso, Jason, and Leo entered the carriage, Calypso asked,
"So, what did you and Nico talk about, Sir Valdez?"
"He just gave me some advice." Leo answered.
"Speaking of which, I'll take those clothes you were offering." Now that Leo knew the two didn't see him as a burden or were playing around with him, he could finally do something he hasn't done in years.
He could finally let down some of those walls he built.
Chapter 4: Ballroom Dancing
Summary:
Leo's introductory ball as Jason and Calypso's bodyguard. What could possibly go wrong?
Notes:
Sorry it took so long, but here is the chapter that's reason why this fic was tagged with 'Angst'.
Chapter Text
Leo had officially been at the castle for three months and Jason decided it was finally time to publicly introduce Leo as him and Calypso's bodyguard.
“Leo, it is custom for all bodyguards to have public introductions. That way, we won't have to explain who you are everytime we visit another ruler's castle. I already struggled with explaining to Thalia that I wasn't cheating on Calypso with you.” Jason explained while changing his clothes.
A week ago, Jason had taken Leo to meet his sister, Thalia and her wife, Queen Reyna. When Thalia saw Leo, she thought that he was Jason's secret lover and tried to murder both of them. The only reason Calypso couldn't go was because her father, King Atlas, was giving her “life coaching” or, as Leo called it, “telling her to ignore her own feelings and manipulate Jason's so that way they both could be miserable while he benefits from it.”
“You know, if you didn't keep giving me such nice clothes, maybe Reyna wouldn't have called me your, what did she say again? Ah right ‘puta de lado’.” Leo said, attempting and failing at buttoning his shirt.
“I would rather withstand a million rumors about what makes you so close to us before I ever, EVER let you go out in rags again.” Calypso retorted while fastening her skirt.
“So, you're saying you'd let me be called Jason's side hoe?” Leo feigned a look of sadness while Jason did his buttons for him.
“No, I'm saying we care more about you than some stupid rumors. Jason, can you tighten my corset for me please?” Calypso asked as Jason walked over and pulled the strings of her corset.
Leo began blushing as Calypso's corset was tightened. Leo already could barely stop himself from staring at her chest regularly, but with the corset, he had to stop him from drooling.
“Nice rack.” Leo said without thinking. The moment he realized what he said, he turned even redder.
“How blunt, Sir Valdez.” Calypso playfully giggled while Jason rolled his eyes and finished tying the corset. Then, Jason’s eyes widened as he remembered something incredibly important.
“Oh yeah, Leo,” Jason started to say as Leo turned to look at him. “My parents will be attending the ball and I don’t think my father would approve of the uh close relationship you have with us.” ‘Close relationship’ was seen as an understatement to Leo due to the fact that he had seen both Jason and Calypso naked before, and they let him sleep in their bed. Turns out, Jason is a HUGE cuddlebug.
“So, I guess that means we must remain in ‘professional mode’ at all times?” Leo said, inquisitive. Jason nodded while Calypso sighed. She and Jason had made such great progress on easing Leo into the thought of being in a relationship with them, and now, that progress was at risk of being reversed.
The time came for the ball and many royal families arrived. Jason introduced Leo to Prince Percy, the son of King Poseidon and his royal baker, Sally Jackson, and Percy's wife, Princess Annabeth, daughter of Queen Athena.
“The funny thing is that her mom absolutely HATES my dad.” Percy said while pouring himself a cup of wine. “I think Queen Athena is more pissed about my existence than Queen Amphitrite, and she is literally my dad's wife. How crazy is that?”
“Not as crazy as being removed from your family's line of succession for marrying a woman.” Ex-princess Piper stated, holding the hand of her wife and downing what appeared to be her third or fourth cup of wine.
“The look on Queen Aphrodite's face when her only heiress revealed that she was marrying a woman was priceless!” Shel, Piper's wife, laughed.
“I like to think being sent out to patrol the other side of the forest because your superiors want you out of the way and coming back with a long-lost princess for a fiancée is pretty crazy.” Sir Frank Zhang interjected. Frank's fiancée, Hazel, Nico, and Will all rolled their eyes. Frank liked bragging about how he and Hazel got engaged.
“I think Frank wins.” Leo giggled. As the others laughed, Leo smiled. He finally felt at home. He felt like he had a place amongst all these royals. He soon felt a hand grab his arm and pull him onto the dance floor.
“Your Majesty, what is this about?” Leo said as Calypso twirled him around. He thought that they weren't meant to be casual with each other?
“This ball was thrown in your honor. You can't just NOT dance.” Calypso giggled and twirled Leo over to Jason. The two were incredibly good dance partners and extremely well-coordinated, passing themselves and Leo between each other through spins and twirls.
Leo felt like he was on Cloud 9 and he didn't want to come down. But then, the clinking of a spoon against glass caused him to look up. There stood on the ballroom's balcony, King Zeus and Queen Hera, Jason's parents.
“I am sorry to interrupt, but there is news that I simply must share with you all.” Zeus said as he smirked. Jason's face went pale. He knew what it meant when his father smirked like that.
“When I heard that my son and daughter-in-law's bodyguard was having his introductory ball, I did what any good father would do. I did a background check.” Zeus was still smirking and Hera ran up to him.
“Zeus, this is a formal event. Control yourself.” Hera stated.
“Nonsense, Hera. After all, these esteemed nobles should know that they're celebrating a commoner.” Leo's eyes went wide as everyone in the room began staring at him.
“Yes,” Zeus continued, “I was just as surprised as you are. This ‘Leo Valdez’ isn't a noble. His mother is a dead blacksmith and I bet he doesn't even know who his father is. This is no knight. He is just a filthy commoner who was lucky enough to get to place himself by my son's side. In fact, I bet he does more than just ‘protect’. I think he-” Zeus was cut off by Queen Reyna punching him in the face.
“You disgust me, Zeus.” Reyna stated. “What gives you the right to do what you did? You never cared about your son. You didn't even know he had a bodyguard before the invitations were sent out! You dare try to make Sir Valdez seem like he is less than what he really is? This ‘filthy commoner’ graduated at the top of his knight school, with his skills far surpassing any knight in your guard! Sir Valdez, over the past three months of him being in the castle, has stopped dozens of attempts on the Prince and Princess's lives! And what have you done? You have done nothing but sit on your culo and act like you are better than everyone while your wife apologizes for YOUR actions! It seems to me that this ‘filthy commoner’ has done more to protect your son than you have! And how dare you try to insinuate that he is sleeping with Jason? The fact that the thought even crossed your mind sickens me! It is clear who the ‘filthy’ one is between you and Valdez.” Reyna walked over to Leo, who was standing in shock.
“Sir Val- Leo, are you alright?” Reyna asked. Zeus recovered from the hit and scowled at Jason. Jason proceeded to scowl back harder, causing Zeus to back off.
“Leo?” Calypso and Jason's voices snapped Leo back to reality.
“Oh, I'm fine, guys.” Leo forced a smile. ‘What was I thinking?’ Leo thought. ‘I could never stand next to them and truly be seen as equal. Zeus was right. I don't even know my own father!’
“Hey, don't let that old fart get you guys down! It's a party, enjoy yourselves.” Leo insisted. The party continued, with Sally and her husband, a royal tutor named Paul Blofis, finally introducing everyone to their daughter, Estelle, who liked calling Percy ‘Perky’, which made Leo laugh.
Although everything seemed alright, Calypso knew something was wrong. Leo, even when no one was paying attention, only referred to her and Jason as ‘your majesties’. The thing that she feared most had happened.
All the progress of making Leo comfortable with her and Jason had been erased.
Chapter 5: Hiatus
Chapter Text
I'm sorry to everyone who's been waiting for an update, but 'Royal Relations' will be on a hiatus until May. I've been very boggled down by college and it might take awhile for me to be able to work on this, but I will be able to give this series more attention later and I might be able to post one-shots since they take less time. Once again, I'm sorry.
Chapter 6: I'm Sorry
Summary:
This is going to be what you expect it to be
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
I'm sorry to everyone that fell in love with this story, but I am going to be discontinuing it. I lost motivation to work on it and I've moved on to writing stories for my current main hyperfixation. I do appreciate everyone that read this story, and you are all free to write your own stories about how you think Prince Jason, Princess Calypso, and Sir Leo got married. I will let you know how I planned to end this series. It was supposed to be discovered that Leo's father was Hephaestus, former captain of Aphrodite's royal guard and a duke of a minor kingdom before his disappearance. This noble connection would've boosted Leo's status and allowed him to be free to be in a relationship with Jason and Calypso. However, you are all free to write about how you think that that might've happened. You all are also free to write stories of how you think the other couples got together, just remember that they have to take place before this story since by this point in their lives, they are all married to their current partner.
Notes:
I truly am sorry that I'm discontinuing this, but it's better that I confirm the discontinuation than leave you hoping for more.
