Chapter Text

Severus should have known.

Even from the dinner the day before, there was this feeling in his stomach that said something was going to get fucked up if not then than sooner or later. He just wished he would have listened. Or, should he call himself ‘she’? How did this even happen? Did he– she? Eat something wrong during dinner? Then again she didn't even eat all that much in the first place. Just a small portion of what was being served.

Severus bit her lip impatiently as she waited in the clinic as madam pomfrey talked to someone. To her side, she could hear soft biting of nails from none other than Regulus Black. Who was in the same predicament as her.

“..What do you think happened?” The younger Black asked sheepishly, Severus could only stare. She didn't know. There was no potion, no spell that could turn them into this. She traced the scars on her arm, feeling the maured soulmate mark under the layers of old and relatively new scars.

“I don't know.”

It was… eerily calm after that. Hearing Regulus’ foot tap like a nervous rabbit, hearing the murmur from the man, Dumbledore –who arrived rather late, probably didn't care much for Slytherins–, and Madam Pomfrey. Severus could live with it though. This was normal. What did surprise him was that Sirius Black wasn't here, sure he was disowned by the Blacks but still, as far as Severus knew Sirius still cared about his baby brother – now turned sister. Surely.

Severus sighed. How did she get in this position?

_______________

The door was far more looming than before, Regulus had concluded. Behind that door would be instant humiliation. What was the headmaster thinking?? Did they really have to make such a big entrance? Nervously, Regulus caught a peak at sixth year Severus Snape. The older's hair almost reached his– her waist. She had the same stoic expression as she would almost everyday, though now her features truly reflected her Japanese routes instead of just her British. She stood tall. Regulus couldn't help but feel her stomach knot and twist uncomfortably, Snape was probably used to it.

Used to this icky feeling of impending doom and humiliation because.. Because of the Marauders. The same Marauders her own brother was friends with, the same Marauders that hung Snape upside down, debagging him (back when Snape was a him) in front of the whole of hogwarts. Everything was making her fidgety as she remembered the past, thought about the future and worried about the present. Her parents are going to kill her once she finds out about this.. About all of this.. Regulus could just imagine, they would start going on and on about how if Sirius was in this situation it wouldn't even be happening because he had strong magic, enough to repel whatever was going on with Regulus.

Suddenly it was stuffy.

Regulus was trying so hard, could his parents not see that–?

“It's going to break.”

Regulus blinked, turning to the older, “What..?”

“Your nail. Keep biting it and you'll break it.” Snape never looked at her, just kept her black eyes on the door, panic. Regulus wasn't alone, she wasn't alone. That felt nice.

“And so I hope you all will treat them with utmost kindness and make them feel welcomed–” Regulus heard Dumbledore’s speech from behind the door.

And in response to it, both Regulus and Snape couldn't help but let out small scoffs before stifling laughs. Unbelieving smiles on their faces. Acceptance? In Hogwarts? Please, that was a first years dream. Lying git. Okay, maybe he shouldn't have thought that or called the head master that but still, you would get acceptance only if you were in Dumbledore’s favorite house. His little lion cubs. At least that's what it felt like to Slytherins like them.

“...Ready?”

Regulus could hear Snape almost chuckle in amusement.

“Always.”

Even though Regulus had been the one to ask if Snape was ready. She certainly was not. As the doors opened, it all seemed to slow down for Regulus. Faintly she could hear the clack of Snape's new school shoes. But even then, that stopped as after six steps Snape stopped and turned to look at her. Regulus tensed up. So many eyes. All, looked at her. Her. They were unwavering. They didn't look away. Did they not get bored? Suddenly, Severus was in front of her. Delicate, long fingers wrapped around her wrist, “I thought being a black made you immune to.. All this.”

…Regulus should be immune to this, shouldn't she? But she wasn't. She doesn't think she can go down that path and act like nothing has changed because something has changed and she doesn't know if she can take it–

“Don't worry..” Snape tried to give a small smile, “You're not alone, are you?”

No, she wasn't.

_______________

James could never be happier.

He's captain of the quidditch team, has a smoking hot girlfriend, the best of friends in the world, and annoying Snivellus wasn't around. Okay, granted smoking hot girlfriend would be better if Lily was his soulmate but he didn't really need to meet his soulmate when the most beautiful girl was in front of him in all her fiery glory.

It had started as a regular, fantastic day for him as he ate in the great hall with Lily by his side. That was until there was an announcement.

“Students, I have quite the important words to say today regarding one Regulus black and Severus Snape–”

James rolled his eyes, feeling Lily stiffen beside him he squeezed shoulder, pulling her close to him. Slimy git Snivellus had called her that horrible slur, imagine that? Some friend he was. Behind him he could hear wormtail and padfoot snicker at the mention of Snivellus. Moony was quiet though, immersed in his book.

“It has come to my attention of an old contract the Blacks and Princes made centuries ago, and now young mr. Black and mr. Snape have turned into missus.”

Whispers erupted, James raised a brow, smiling coyly, “So the old troll has turned into an old hag?” Sirius said, causing James to laugh as well as Peter. Remus had lifted his head, an expression of purest confusion as he now listened intently to the headmaster. There was no such spell for one to change their gender without it dancing on the line of dark magic. Though, since it was a contract maybe it actually was dark magic.

Though, rumors –already surfacing– were up in the air. There was no doubt Regulus would look just fine as a woman, but Snape? Ugly troll Snape? Hah, they couldn't wait to see that happen. Maybe her nose would be far bigger than before, or she'd be as flat as a board, or her teeth would be so yellow it was rotting, or her lips would be so dry they were white. Just something, something had to be wrong with her.

“SILENCE!”

Quiet. Dumbledore then started again, “This has most likely given them some sense of despair, with that being said going through something like they are going through would weaken their mind as their body have gone through extreme changes.

And so I hope you all will treat them with utmost kindness and make them feel welcomed.”

Dumbledore looked at McGonagall and nodded his head to the woman. To which the professor stood, “Now, Regulus Black and Severus Snape may enter.”

James couldn't help but snort. “This is going to be good.” He mumbled just as the doors opened and eager eyes turned towards it to find two women.. The Gryffindor could barely recognize them, but he also could recognize them. The girl with pin straight hair seemed to be Snivellus. She had the gits normal arrogance and stoic expression. Her nose was still hooked but less big, he guessed, there was a beauty mark on the top of her left eyebrow, one under her right eye and another just right under the one under her eye.

She stopped walking. Hah, had she gotten stage fright or something? “Look at that Snivellus is running away.” Sirius mocked, James laughed before turning to see she stopped right in front of Regulus. Who's hair was styled like those old 50’s hairstyles though longer going to her waist. She was frozen, nervous.

Hogwarts watched as Snivellus wrapped her slimy hands around Regulus' own. They whispered to each other before finally they both walked towards the Slytherin table. James clicked his tongue. Well that was boring. Though there was something about Snivellus that interested him. The way she walked. The click of her new shoes. Or the way her eyes were more slanted. Triangular. Tired.

“...He looks more Japanese like this.”

James turned to Lily, “Japanese? The gits Japanese?”

“Half. His mom is Japanese.”

Guess Snivellus has caught James' attention again.
