Summary
Jean can’t help but glance towards the VIP tent. All of the Foxes are there, and there had been some kind of catharsis in getting to belt the songs he had written about Kevin at his face, but he does not want to think about Kevin Day right now.
The last song of their show is one from an album that Jean was not a part of, a song that was originally written as a love letter to their fans, and to each other. It is not for Jean, and so he always respectfully borrows Laila’s sticks and takes up the spot behind the drumset so that she can roam free and interact with the friends that love her, that love Cat, that love Jeremy, that love the band despite Jean’s introduction. He had thought the song was sappy and fake, but after a hundred and four shows of hearing how the fans roar for it, and seeing how much it means to all of them, he owes it to them to try.
