Work Text:

Every summer at jujutsu tech, despite popular belief, it was always rainy, cold and windy. At Least it felt like it. Oftentimes Megumi would find himself sitting around the common room or in his dorm by himself. There wasn't anyone there so why would he need to try to hang out with people? Gojo would of course invite himself to the boys room and ramage through his book shelf and accuse him of hiding secret manga, which he never owned in the first place.

He preferred non-fiction novels after all. Occasionally a Second or even Third year might be spotted near the common room but they were all doing their own things during the summer, either on a mission or hanging out with friends downtown.

Megumi didn't even bother asking them to invite him, if they wanted him there they would have asked him by now wouldn't they? Instead he spent all his time reading novels or the occasional indulging into digital drawing that he would find himself doing instead of studying. Even though his guardian nagged him about “Getting a life so you don't wither away from lack of sunlight”. Get fucked Gojo.

Megumi was prepared for another boring and lifeless summer. His tablet and apple pencil fully charged, his shelves reorganised and even a few new editions he could get started on, and new clothes he could comfortably laze around in all day until he had to go on a mission assigned to him.

However this year he did not include a new factor, the fact he now had other people in his year as well as a new neighbour. Kugisaki Nobara and Itadori Yuuji. Two extroverted type people who would no doubt attempt to drag him out of his deep little hole he had buried himself in years prior.

Their first attempt at getting him out included taking him out to the mall.

“See, isn't this nice Fushiguro?” Nobara commented, holding two bags in each arm. Looking back behind her towards the two other teens who joined her. Yuuji held three shopping bags in his hand, most likely Nobaras, and laughed.

“C’mon man, you gotta get out more! This isn't so bad right?” He joked. Megumi rolled his eyes in response. The sun glared down on him as he raised his hand to block its golden rays from his eyes. The three sorcerers walked calmly along the shops of downtown Tokyo, All relaxing on their day off.

“Are you guys done yet? I need to get back soon.” Megumi commented. Nobara simply rolled her eyes at the question and turned around, stopped in her spot and glared directly at Megumi, who just avoided eye contact.

“Are you kidding me? You gotta stop just spending all your time in your room. It might not matter much for you but it seriously kills the mood so much.” She complained.

“I'm sorry? You don't have to invite me next time, Just let me stay back, I don't care.”

“Guys can we not? We’re supposed to be having fun.” Yuuji tried to defuse the situation but proved to be of not much help.

“I would be having fun in my room. Not out here. I'm going back.”

“Fine, Go! you're boring anyways. Let's go Itadori, let's actually have some fun unlike a certain someone." By the time she finished Megumi was already off. Nobara continued complaining about how he didnt do anything and that they shouldn't have even bothered inviting him out.

“I dunno, maybe he just doesn't like going shopping? I mean it does get pretty loud. Plus we had a mission yesterday. I think he'd appreciate a movie or going to the library rather than walking around a bigass shopping centre.” He threw in his own thoughts.

“Well that doesnt give him the right to be such a bitch about it. Like c’mon, you could at least just wait a little more until we got back or just not come at all!”

“You literally ripped the sheets of his bed and dragged him onto the floor and told him to ‘get the fuck up, we’re going out today’. He just woke up too, I'd be pretty pissed if that happened to me.”

“Ok? Skill issue, that's not my problem. You know what? Whatever, let's just go back, there's not a lot of good shops down here anyways.” Nobara huffed, slamming her feet down with each step she took.

When the two arrived back at the school dormitories, they stopped by the common room to put their bags down and have a break before retiring back to their own selected rooms. three extra bags sat on the table waiting for them on the far side and two cups of tea waiting for them on the closer side. Both teas had been made to their liking and were still hot. Most likely poured when they arrived at the gate of the school.

“Huh, I wonder who left tea out here.” Nobara muttered under her breath, barely audible. Itadori had a clue as to who, there was only one person in this part of the dormitory so it shaved down a lot of people who could be considered to leave the tea on the table. Nobara and Yuuji placed their bags on the table next to the ones that were there beforehand. The female sorcerer stretched her arms upwards as she yawned.

“Well, I'm going to my room, I'll take these in later. Girls need naps too.” She told the other. Yuuji simply nodded his head and picked up his own mug. The boy continued to take himself down the hallway that led to his room. Before he opened his door, Yuuji took a step back and looked carefully at his neighbour's door.

knock knock knock

“Fushiguro? Can we talk?” He asked through the door. He didn't get an answer, Yuuji knocked again before slowly opening the door and poking his head through. He saw Megumi leaning over his desk, pencil in hand, laptop set in front of him with pinterest open and red Beats headphones sitting comfortably between spikes of hair.

Yuuji approached the boy, step by step, getting closer to Megumi who was blissfully unaware of the door even opening. Yuuji finally stood behind him when he said

“Nice drawing you got there” Megumi only turned around because he felt the air leaving Yuuji's mouth on the back of his neck.

“Fuck!-” He hurriedly turned off his ipad. “-When the hell did you get here?” He asked Yuuji, shocked to see Yuuji standing in front of him, Megumi slid one ear of his headphones off the side of his head.

“I knocked on the door, I even called out for you but you didn't answer so I just came in.” he answered truthfully.

“Well don't do that again please” The other boy hissed.

“Yeah sure, but hey if you're down, can we go watch a movie? It doesn't have to be now, not even at the theatre but I would really like to hang out with you more.”

Damn it, Yuuji was gonna kill Megumi with that soft ass smile one day. Everytime he sent it his way, Megumi could feel his heart soften up and melt even just a little bit. He could feel the blood rushing through his veins, his heart slowly hurrying up in paste.

“I'm kinda picky about my movies, I mainly just watch documentaries or old classics anyways.I'm not sure if we can find something we both like.” Megumi admitted as if it were the end of the world. What if Yuujis attempts of bonding with Megumi were all for nothing?

“That's fine! We can pick a classic you like and then next time we’ll choose one I like that I think you might also like as well.”

Why did Yuuji have to be so considerate of Megumi's taste? Why did he have to be so tooth-achingly sweet to the poor boy? Surely his heart couldn't get any faster than it was already. It was like Megumi was staring directly at the sun, looking deep into its brightness and liveliness.

“Yuuji…” Megumi mumbled. “Thanks Itadori, i think we’re free tomorrow, we can do it in the afternoon if you want?” He asked.

“Sounds good! I'm pretty sure we have Netflix on the tv, if not we can sacrifice my laptop to viruses and watch something on like flix.hd.” He joked. “I'll let you get back to what you were doing, you seemed pretty focused.”

Nonono don't go. I like it when you're here.

“Alright, i'll see you then.'' Megumi finished, it was then when Yuuji went over to the door and left the room.

Why do I not want him to leave?

—-

Earlier that morning the Ten-Shadow user found himself making himself breakfast instead of lunch. He could still hear the rain pouring outside, they were definitely staying in tonight. Recently Nobara had been complaining about how the air had been making her skin feel dry. For the past week there had surprisingly been no signs of rain but now the waterfall outside was a week's worth of water.

“Yo! Megumi, you're up early.” Gojo stumbled into the kitchen. Megumi stayed at the stove, not even turning his head to face his mentor.

“Oh, hey, yeah I guess so.” He mumbled, paying attention to the egg and bacon he was cooking on the frying pan. Gojo simply leaned on the marble countertop next to him. Lookin at him with suspicion behind his eyes.

“Any particular reason you're up? I dont think I’ve ever seen you get up this early in the summer.” He teased, poking the fire that was Megumi's attitude.

“No reason, just felt like it.” Megumi shot back a look at Gojo. Knowing he was surely up to something, he always was after all. The man he was glaring at returned his ferocity with a smirk of his own.

“Enjoy your time with Yuuji, oh by the way he’ll be back in a few hours, i sent him out to get some snacks.” Gojo told Megumi. The boy stared at gojo with a look of disbelief and shock.

“It's raining though..”

“So? He’ll be fine. He won't die from lil water.”

This dude- I'm gonna kill him one day. Megumi stood true to his words, as he swiftly threw a piece of raw bacon from the package he had left out over at the white haired man. His effort was in vain as all it did was collide with infinity and promptly fall on the wooden planks that were the floor.

“Are you trying to kill me with salmonella poisoning? What if it touched me!” Gojo exclaimed.

“Thats chicken dumb ass, aren't you supposed to be a teacher? And yet you don't even know that?”

“Alright then smartass. I'll leave you alone now.” Walking over to leave the communal kitchen, Gojo turned back and quickly said “Oh and enjoy your time with your boyfriend-”

“He's not my- I hate you. So much.”

“Love You too kiddo.”

Megumi snorted at that statement.

The rain was still falling, even if it wasn't falling down as hard as it was before, rain was still rain. Just as life was life. Megumi was sitting, legs atop of the black couch in the living room of the dorm. Just then Yuuji had returned from his quest that Gojo had sent him on.

“You won't believe the shit he sent me to get, I feel like a servant being sent to fetch their master some random high class, posh brush they left on the other side of their vacation manor.” He complained while his soaking wet clothes dripped, leaving a train and slowly forming puddles on the floor.

“Go and get warm. You don't wanna be watching a movie cold." Megumi said he pushed himself up from his resting position and walked down the hallway connecting the living room to the bedrooms. He went over to an inbuilt closet, turned on the lightswitch with a quick flip and looked around for any towels. At last he found a grey towel that sat all the way at the back. He reached over and moved the numerous bottles of dangerous chemicals to get a grip on the cloth and bring it off the shelf.

Once the towel was within his grasp, he turned off the light as he left the small, claustrophobic room. When he finally got back to the lounge he saw Yuuji leaving his room from down the hallway. The pink-haired boy was wearing a black long sleeved shirt that had been brought up to his elbows with some loose fitting grey shorts. His hair is still wet from the quick shower he took just a few minutes earlier. Suddenly the rain had lessened, almost as if Yuujis presence helped sooth its raging rampage.

“So what movie were you thinking? Got any recommendations?” The taller boy asked.

“I have a feeling you'd be a person who appreciates old school films. I have ‘The exorcist’ if you don't mind a horror movie, or we can try to find a documentary.”

I fucking hate horror movies.

“I don't mind them.”

Im so fucked.

He couldn't help but lie to Yuuji in order to please him just a little bit, even if it was just for a horror movie from the 1970s, it was only two hours. He could last. Plus he brought out a movie from his own collection just for Megumi, he put in thought and effort to find something they could both enjoy.

They laid on the couch, blankets to count had been shoved to the side or were slewed across the floor. Pillows smushed behind their backs and the remote somewhere in the cracks of the couch. Megumi often found himself disliking the horror movies that Gojo and Tsumiki had picked out when they had their sunday movie nights, but then Tsumiki got cursed, Gojo got busy and he was left all alone to watch movies. Everytime he watched a movie he reminded him of how he sat on the sofa of their shared house and watched movie after movie alone, with no one to stay beside his side when a horror movie was on the tv.

The first time he had watched a movie within the past two years was when he was sitting next to the vessel of Sukuna. They both sat comfortably near each other, within each proximity. Breaching the lines being sitting next to each other and laying on top of one another.

The rain seemed to have lightened up significantly since the last time Megumi checked. It was no longer cold, instead he could feel the slick summer heat on his body. Its humidity now clinging onto the boy's pale skin. Despite being dark outside, despite it being night, despite the sun being stored away for the next day, its warmth still radiated the earth and its inhabitants.

The movie continued to play, at the moment the young, the Twelve-year old girl was being possessed and had been screaming at the priest, chanting curses and eagerly spewing hateful words towards the man cloaked in black. Yet Megumi found himself not scared, unwavering. He sat still next to Yuuji. His fear was drowned by the presence of another warm person in the room, unlike how he watched movies before, in the cold, next to no one.

A weight found itself laying on his shoulder. Megumi looked over to see what it was and took notice of the pink hair that had clouded his vision. Carefully, he manuvered his arm behind Yuuji and slowly tucked him into a one-armed side hug. It was a bit awkward but it was the best he could provide for the boy who had fallen asleep.

Yuuji had somehow fallen asleep on Megumi's shoulder. And this didn't seem like a light sleep either, the journey their teacher sent him out on before probably dealt a great hand in his current situation.

Damn it Gojo.

Out of all the things that could've happened, it had to be this. What was he supposed to do? Tomorrow they had a mission and Yuuji had been out for the whole day going around Tokyo for the most obscure snacks. Toothpaste potato chips, he was never gonna let Gojo away with that one. But it wasn't like Megumi could just awaken the teen sleeping on him. He was tired, he had a right to rest and Megumi didn't want to take that away from him. He knew how Yuuji was having a rough time sleeping recently. Dealing with the bridge incident, dealing with Todo, and especially that shitstain of a curse.

Megumi chose to not wake him up, instead, he made himself comfortable and let Yuuji sleep on his shoulder.

‘I wouldn't mind if we did this more often.. This is really nice.’ He found himself thinking. The movie dragged on in the background, Slowly turning into background. ‘Why am I thinking that? We’re just friends, doing what friends do. Snuggling up on a couch, sleeping with- ON EACH OTHER. God, I need to spend some time away from Gojo. I swear if we walk by a KFC one more time and he starts to pull out a hollow purple I'm going to send him into a retirement home early.’ Yuuji slept soundly on top of Megumi, completely unaware of the storm going on inside the raveonettes' head. It was unfair that he was laying down so calmly while Megumi was fighting himself in his head.

‘I don't have a crush, he's my best friend, I can't. It would ruin everything, plus he's straight! If you saw him talk about Jennifer Lawyrence and Megan thee stallion you would have no doubt that he was into tits and ass. But why did he have to be straight damnit.’

Why did he have to have such a raging crush on Yuuji? It was just his luck that the only guy he liked wasn't interested in him.

‘I'll get over it, it's just a silly crush, big deal.’ It may have not seemed like a big deal to him at the time but when he was in his own room the next night, sleep had avoided him as if he contained the plague and several other contagious diseases.

‘Fuck, i have a crush.’ The boy was laying on his back, stiff as a bored, arms beside him. But what else could he do? His mind drew blanks. The shadows user was tied, he wanted to sleep but sleep didn't want him. Getting up and walking away from his room, Megumi dictated that the best course of action was to get a mid night snack. Or was it an early morning snack? If you asked him what time it was he probably would have replied with 13:67pm.

The lack of rest was getting to him.

Now In the kitchen, he ripped the fridge door open, shaking some of its contents around with the pure force of his pull. Inside, at the very back there was leftover beef noodles with ginger seasoning. ‘Gimme that shit.’ He thought while snatching it from where it sat, ripping off the lid and roughly throwing it into the microwave. Smashing the buttons down and waiting angrily for it to warm up via radiation.‘Cook faster damnit, you stupid fucking piece of shitty-’

“Fus’igu’o? What are you doing up so late?” Yawned Yuuji as he sat on one of the high counter stools. Sleep is still stuck in the corners of his eyes, bags were starting to form under his eyes as well, at least it looked like it from where Megumi could see him.

“Couldn't sleep, what about you?”

“Mhm, just thoughts i guess..”

Something was definitely up with Yuuji, Megumi had seen him before at this time and he was still better than this. But he could tell that Yuuji was down, maybe it was during that time where he ‘died’? He could only guess.

“Do you wanna talk about it? I'm not exactly someone you should get advice from but I can listen if you want to vent your thoughts.” He offered. Pulling up a seat next to the pink haired boy.

“When i was playing dead-” I fucking knew it. something happened there. “-There was this guy i met. He was a really cool dude but he was getting bullied at school and it wasn't just your average bully, they smoked and put out cigarettes on his forehead. And his mom smoked as well, I can't imagine having to come home to that. When i was training Gojo-sensei made me watch a shit-ton of movies to get me ahold of my cursed energy and when i met him i found he had a thing for underrated movies, even if he knew they were gonna be shit he still watched them anyways. I think- I think I liked him. We had so much in common and he was his own person, and then Mahito.” He spat with pure hatred, as if he had a personal vendetta against that word..

“That bastard fucking killed him, morphed his soul right in fucking front of me. And what did Sukuna and him do? They laughed, they laughed like the fucking psychopaths they are.” His knuckles bore white with how hard he was tightening them. The counter seemed to be oddly nice to look at all of a sudden. Megumi simply looked at the boy with a sorrowful stare.

“That's- holy shit. I'm so sorry, I can't say I know how you feel because I don't think anyone does. That's horrible.”

“It's fine. There was nothing I could do anyways, there's this other guy that i- it's embarrassing to say, god.” His tone switched from sombre to blushy in a quick second. His hands found their way up to face to hide the harsh blush covering his cheeks.

“Really? I didn't think you were into guys.” Megumi tossed.

“I didnt think so either until Junpei, but when i saw something in him it reminded me of the other guy, and- fuck, my type is horrible.”

“I'll be the judge of that. Hit me with it, it can't be worse than ‘tall girls with big asses'.” The black haired boy mocked jokingly.

“Hmm, dark hair, nice eyes, long eyelashes, for some reason that's just something I love so much, it just brings so much attention to their face. What else.. Moody? I've noticed they are usually closed off and try to avoid people but when you get to know them personally they can be one of the funniest and best people in your life.” Yuuji smiled gently, entering a daze and remembering past time he had spent with Junpei and this other guy, so he called.

Are you kidding me? He's into guys?! Maybe I have a chance.

“So you're going to tell me all about this guy and not even tell me who it is? That's cold.” Megumi joked. Punching Yuuji on the shoulder but there was barely any effort in that punch.

Beep, beep, beep, beep

The warm light from the microwave dimed as the timer rang. 5 minutes, that's how long this conversation had lasted. 5 painful minutes of megumi listening to yuuji getting so worked up about some guy. When it should've been him. He should've been the one Yuuji was starstruck by. The one that made heart shaped pupils in Yuujis amber coloured eyes. Pushing himself away from the counter, Megumi turned away and walked straight to the microwave. Before he took the container out he snatched a rag from the oven door to protect his hands from the heat of the box. He vowed to never get burnt by the microwaves powerful heat, the day he was cooking mac and cheese and had to go to shoko for first degree burns to his hands was mortifying and borderline degrading, like seriously who gets burns on their hands carrying easy mac and fucking cheese? They lied, it was not easy. When he ran into Gojo the next day the young teen had been relentlessly tormented by the older man's teasing.

“Mac and cheese?! You, the Ten-Shadows user, Megumi Fushiguro burnt his hands carrying mac and cheese.”

“Shut the fuck up-”

Moving on from the Mac and Cheese incident of 2016, Megumi has placed the bowl down, recovering from his minor PTSD attack, the teen moved his seat over back to where it was before and sat down next to Yuuji. As he blew delicately on his noodles he looked over to the boy next to him.

“Want some? It's leftovers from last night.” He offered.

“If you insist.” The noodles on his chopsticks disappeared in less than a second, almost as if they were never even there. As Yuuji slowly chewed through the starch he spoke.

“Ginger right? It's good.”

Well obviously, gingers great, a blessing to mankind actually. But he could keep that thought to himself.

“Yeah, I got extra, we do have some in the fridge last time I checked though.”

“Do your lips also taste like ginger?”

What.

Wait a minute. WAIT A DAMN MINUTE

“Sorry?” He squealed. A pathetic sound really. Dropping his chopsticks into the noodle and broth mix.

“Sorry! I- um, i dont know what i said that- fuck im so sorry. Please summon Mahoraga and kill me already or something.” The boy stuttered, burying his face in his hand and choosing not to look at Megumi any more.

“Why don't you find out?” Megumi urged instead.

WHY DID I SAY THAT?! I GET FLIRTED WITH FOR THE FIRST TIME AND THIS IS MY REACTION? I’m gonna kill myself, wheres big raga when i need him.

The summer stench drenched the air, its humidity clinging onto their skin feverishly. The moment Yuuji had arrived at the school it was like he washed away all the rain that had plagued Megumi. He made it so he could enjoy his youth. Got him to try new things, some of which he didn't like but others he did. He learnt how to cook meatballs, watched the first horror movie he'd even bothered with in the past two years. He even managed to steal Megumi's first kiss just then.

Megumi could feel his surprisingly soft lips dance against his own, the warmth of his flesh mixing with his own. He could taste the mintiness of the toothpaste Yuuji used before heading to bed. The unflavoured taste of vaseline on his lips.

“Damn, they really do taste like ginger.” Yuuji huffed, his hand gently cradling Megumi's face, the other one softly wiping against his bottom lip.

“Well now you know.” Megumi breathed. His ginger breath gently blew in the other's face. “Y’know.. I wouldn't mind you taste-testing some more.”

“You don't? That's great, I really wanted to go for a second serving. It was so good.”

“Feel free too.”

They exchanged tongues, sitting at the bench. Their wet lips moving together like a tantalising dance they were both made for. Megumi felt his shirt riding up his chest, Yuujis warm hand sliding up his back. Yuuji could feel each separate part of Megumi's spine. His back had fit in the palm of his palm so perfectly. The black-haired boy slipped his fingers in between the elastics of his shorts and hip slowly.

“Are you not wearing underwear underneath?” He asked.

“Wanna find out?” Yuuji smirked.

Holy shit

HOLY SHIT

Megumi had soon gotten his answer.

It was the morning of, both of the boys were lying comfortably on the mattress next to each other, the thin sheet barely covering their indecent bodies. They didn't get to home base, but they were close, instead mutually agreeing to just jack each other off. Although for Megumi that was more than enough. He had been resting his head on the pillow, looking over at Yuujis soft and relaxed features, a small line of droll coming from his slightly opened mouth.

It stopped raining.

It wasn't cold.

He could smell the summer stench. He no longer had to wait for someone to wash away the rain. For that person had already arrived.

“Mrhm.”

“Are you awake?” He asked.

“F’w mor’ minu’es.” Yuuji groaned. Turning to head over to Megumi and then into the pillow.

“What are we now?” He abruptly asked. That woke Yuuji up for sure, his eyes widening and mind snapping out of the morning daze he suffered from every morning. Yuuji thought about what to say. Would they still be friends? I mean friends can just jack off each other platonically right? They wouldn't have to change anything. So why did he want to be more?

“I mean.. Can friends jack off each other platonically? Is that a thing?” Yuuji asked seriously.

“No? Not last time I checked.” Megumi returned. They continued to lay in silence. Only hearing the fan circle around on a low spin, the cicadas outside chirping away, driving anyone who could hear them insane. Kinda reminded Yuuji of neon genesis. They had a lot of cicada noises didn't they? This was so confusing damnit! Did he want to be closer or not? Maybe Yuuji should have done an “am i gay quiz” before making out and touching his best friend's dick. Maybe it would've been easier. It's not like he regretted it, unless Megumi regretted it. But it was a new feeling, a strange but good one nonetheless.

“Do you want to be together?” Megumi asked. Lifting up from the mattress to get onto his elbows and look at Yuuji from above.

“I'm gonna be honest, you're the first guy i ever had an attraction to, apart from Junpei but that was because he reminded me of you in a way. For all these fifteen years I’ve lived I've only had an interest in women but that day when you came by the hospital- I don't know how to explain it. There was something. I wanted to know you better. I wanted to know you inside and out. I wanted to know every secret you kept hidden from people. And I still do, I think.. I think I love you. Is this what it feels like?” He looked over to megumi. Looking into his eyes gently. Megumi returned with a hand on his cheek and a kiss on his temple.

“It's fine to be confused. We can take it slow if that's what you want.” Yuuji held the boy's hand with his own. He slid the sheet back and wrapped his arms around the black haired chest, bringing him close and holding tight.

“Fuck.. you’re like a black hole, pulling everyone in yet you shine to brightly like the sun.” Megumi teasted. Twisting his fingers in the pinkettes hair.

“Isn't there a song called black hole sun?” Yuuji mentioned. Loosening his arms just the tiniest bit so the boy in his arms could breathe.

“Ehh, whatever.”

“So, does this mean we’re together?” Yuuji asked again.

“If you wanna be.” Megumi muttered. Smiling at the other.

“Then yes, we’re together then.”

Megumi knew he would spend the rest of his summers living the best of his life with his one and only. Each night entangled with each other, every day sitting or hanging with one another.

The rain was finally gone and he could enjoy what youth he had left.
