Work Text:
Tim walked purposefully through the bustling office, his gaze subtly sweeping over the detectives' desks. As he approached, his steps faltered, and he stopped abruptly. There, in Angela's chair, sat Angela herself, her feet propped up on the desk with an air of nonchalance. Across from her was a much smaller, much younger, five-year-old, mimicking Angela's every movement and even dressed in a similar outfit. Tim's brow furrowed in confusion as he took in the uncanny resemblance.
He strode over to Angela, his voice tinged with bewilderment. "Angela, why does my daughter look like a miniature version of you?"
Angela glanced up, a mischievous smile playing on her lips. "Lucy got called away on a case and asked me to watch Zoe for a bit."
As if on cue, Zoe's eyes lit up at the sight of her father. She jumped down from the chair and ran to him, wrapping her arms around his legs in a tight hug. Tim's frown softened as he looked down at his daughter, his heart warming at the sight of her familiar, joyful smile.
Tim bent down, scooping Zoe into his arms, her giggles filling the air as she clung to him. He glanced at Angela, eyebrows raised in a mix of amusement and exasperation. "Where did you even get this outfit?"
Angela's only response was a smirk, her eyes twinkling with mischief. Zoe looked up at her dad, her face beaming with pride. "Look, Daddy! I look just like Tia Angela! That means I'm cool now."
Angela stood and gently took Zoe from Tim's arms. "Alright, my little detective, get back to work.” She looks over at Tim. “You two Sargent. I need some quality time with my girl here."
Tim's frown deepened, but he nodded, reluctantly stepping back. "Fine, but if she comes back with a matching taser, we're going to have problems."
Angela rolled her eyes, her grin widening. "Calm down, Tim."
Zoe, still in Angela's arms, chimed in with a cheeky grin, "Yeah, Dad, calm down."
Tim shook his head, a reluctant smile tugging at the corners of his mouth as he watched Angela and Zoe walk away, Zoe chatting animatedly and Angela listening with a fond expression.
As Angela and Zoe strolled through the office, Zoe looked up at Angela with wide, curious eyes. "Tia, where's Erin?"
Angela glanced down, her smile softening. "Erin's at kindergarten today, mi amor. So, it's just us."
Zoe's face lit up with excitement. "Can we get ice cream?"
Angela's smirk returned, a twinkle of amusement in her eyes. "A girl after my own heart," she said with a chuckle. "I think we can make that happen."
Zoe's delighted squeal echoed through the office as Angela led her towards the exit, the promise of ice cream making their adventure even more special.

Angela and Zoe sat at a little ice cream parlor, both wearing sunglasses that were clearly too big for the five-year-old. Zoe's tiny hands held her cone delicately as she licked at the melting treat, her legs swinging back and forth in her chair. Angela listened intently, occasionally nodding as Zoe relayed the latest daycare gossip.
"And then, Tia," Zoe said, her voice full of seriousness, "Katie stole a crayon from Jaimie."
Angela gasped dramatically, her eyes wide with feigned shock. "No way! That's big news, Zoe."
Zoe nodded solemnly, her ice cream momentarily forgotten. "Yeah, but you can't tell anyone, okay?"
Angela placed a hand over her heart, her expression earnest. "Your secret is safe with me."
Satisfied, Zoe returned to her ice cream, a small smile playing on her lips as she savored both the treat and the bond she shared with her beloved Tia Angela.
As Angela and Zoe finished their ice cream, Zoe's eyes suddenly lit up. She spotted someone familiar walking towards them. "Sissy!" she screamed joyfully, her smile spreading from ear to ear.
Before Angela could stop her, Zoe jumped off her chair and took off running. Angela's heart skipped a beat, but she kept a watchful eye on the little girl, ready to intervene if necessary.
Zoe ran as fast as her tiny legs could carry her, closing the small distance between her and the approaching figure. Tamara, seeing her sister sprinting towards her, knelt down just in time to catch Zoe in a warm embrace. Zoe wrapped her arms around Tamara, her laughter echoing through the air as she held her tightly.
Angela relaxed slightly, a smile of her own forming as she watched the two sisters reunite with such pure joy.
Tamara stood up, effortlessly lifting Zoe into her arms and carrying her back towards Angela. Zoe, still beaming, looked over Tamara's shoulder and called out excitedly, "Tia, I found my sissy!"
Angela's amused smile grew wider as she greeted Tamara. "Hey, Tamara. Good to see you."
Tamara grinned, taking in the matching sunglasses and outfits. "Nice outfits, ladies. You both look great."
Zoe looked up at Tamara with wide eyes. "Do I look cool, sissy?"
Tamara chuckled, giving Zoe a playful squeeze. "You look super cool, Zoe. Just like your Tia Angela."
Angela laughed, the warmth of the moment filling her heart as she shared a smile with Tamara and Zoe, their impromptu ice cream outing now even more special.
Zoe beamed proudly, turning to Angela with wide, earnest eyes. "Tia, if Sissy thinks we're cool, then we must be super cool! Because Sissy is the coolest person ever."
Angela chuckled, her eyes twinkling with affection. She glanced at Tamara, who was smiling bashfully. "Well, if the coolest person ever says so, it must be true," Angela agreed.
Zoe nodded emphatically, her confidence bolstered by Tamara's approval. "Yep! We're the coolest!" she declared, snuggling back into Tamara's arms.
Tamara smiled at Angela, a playful glint in her eye. "So, is this little date going to include some shopping? Because I've been dying to take Zoe to get some little Converse. Tim keeps saying she doesn't need them, but I think it's only right that she gets a pair from her cool big sister."
Angela smirked, nodding in agreement. "Shopping is always an option."
Zoe's eyes lit up, and she squealed with delight, bouncing in Tamara's arms. "Yay! Shopping!”
As they began to walk, Angela suddenly stopped and turned to Tamara with a mischievous grin. "If you're going to shop with us, you have to look the part." She reached into her bag and pulled out a matching pair of oversized sunglasses, holding them out to Tamara.
Tamara raised an eyebrow, amused. "Do you just keep those with you all the time?"
Angela shrugged nonchalantly. "You never know when they'll come in handy."
Zoe, still in Tamara's arms, looked up at her sister with wide, pleading eyes. "Please wear them, Sissy! Pretty please?"
Tamara laughed, unable to resist Zoe's adorable request. "Alright, alright," she said, taking the sunglasses and putting them on. "How do I look?"
Zoe clapped her hands in delight. "Now we're all super cool!"
Angela nodded in approval. "Perfect. Now let's go make this the best shopping trip ever."
The trio, all donning their matching sunglasses, set off with a renewed sense of excitement and unity, ready to conquer the stores together.

Tamara and Angela walked out of the Converse store, each of them sporting new red high-top Converse, with Zoe proudly showing off her matching pair to every person they pass. Their shopping spree didn't stop there; they had also stopped at a few more stores, picking out some adorable dresses and clothes for Zoe.
Angela carried Zoe on her hip as they strolled back towards the station, which wasn't too far away. Zoe's laughter filled the air as she played Angela’s hair. Tamara, glancing at their haul and their matching shoes, couldn't help but laugh. "Tim is going to kill us," she said, shaking her head.
Angela smirked, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "He can try, but he won't succeed."
Zoe giggled, chiming in. "Daddy will like my shoes!"
“He sure will Mi Amor,” Angela smiled. “Because they are the coolest shoes ever.”
The trio continued their walk, enjoying the warm afternoon and the joy of their little adventure together.
As Angela, Tamara, and Zoe walked into the station, they immediately ran into Wesley, who looked like he had just arrived as well. He glanced at Zoe in Angela's arms, a bemused expression crossing his face. "I hope you know that's not our daughter," he quipped with a playful smirk.
Angela chuckled, patting Zoe's head affectionately. "Relax. Erin's at school. I'm just babysitting my goddaughter today."
Zoe grinned up at her uncle, proudly showing off her cool sunglasses. Wesley's eyes softened with amusement as he looked at the little girl. "Those sunglasses are pretty awesome, Zoe," he complimented warmly.
Tamara, noticing Tim and Lucy across the room, waved excitedly. "Hey, there they are!"
Tim and Lucy approached the group, their expressions a mix of curiosity and slight concern as they eyed the bags Angela, and Tamara were carrying. Tim shot Angela a pointed glare, silently questioning the extent of their shopping spree, but Angela simply shrugged it off.
Meanwhile, Zoe spotted her parents and couldn't contain her excitement. With a quick wiggle, she slipped out of Tamara's grasp and darted towards Tim and Lucy. Angela sighed softly, muttering under her breath, "She's got to stop doing that."
Lucy, visibly pregnant, knelt down carefully as Zoe reached her. Tim watched closely, his protective instincts kicking in as he monitored Lucy's movements. "Hey, baby girl," Lucy greeted warmly, brushing Zoe's hair back gently. "Did you have a good day with your Tia?"
Zoe immediately launched into an animated recount of their adventures, describing the ice cream, the new shoes, and all the cool things they did with Tia Angela and sissy. Tim relaxed slightly, a smile playing on his lips as he listened to Zoe's enthusiastic storytelling, reassured by the sight of his daughter safe and happy in Lucy's care.
Tim approached Angela with a raised eyebrow, glancing pointedly at the bags in her hands. "Was all this shopping really necessary?"
Angela grinned unabashedly. "Of course it was. We had to get Zoe properly outfitted, didn't we?"
Tim turned to Tamara, raising an eyebrow inquisitively. "And what's with the shoes?"
Tamara flashed a playful smirk. "It's my duty as the cool older sister to provide Zoe with the cool kid starter pack."
Tim rolled his eyes good-naturedly, about to chide them for spoiling his daughter when Lucy stepped in, her voice calm yet firm. "Tim, she had an amazing day. Isn't that all that matters?"
Tim softened at Lucy's words, his gaze shifting from Angela and Tamara back to Zoe, who was now animatedly showing Lucy her new dress. He sighed, a smile tugging at his lips as he nodded in agreement. "Yeah, you're right."
With Lucy's reassurance, Tim relaxed, knowing that Zoe's happiness was indeed the most important thing. He joined the group, his earlier concern fading as they all shared a moment of family warmth and love in the bustling station.
As Angela observed Tim, Lucy, and Zoe interacting—Tim's protective yet tender demeanor, Lucy's gentle care for Zoe, and Zoe's joyful chatter—she couldn't help but feel a warmth in her heart. She leaned into her own husband, a gesture of comfort and contentment, silently reflecting on how far they had all come.
Angela felt a deep sense of gratitude. They had all earned this happiness, this stability in their lives. Though they weren't a traditional biological family, they were a family in every sense that truly mattered.
Angela smiled softly, squeezing her husband's hand affectionately as she watched Zoe laughing with her parents. This was her family and she couldn’t be happier.
