“Please tell me you’re calling to talk shit about Pete Davidson beating you on Fallon last night, because that was rich.”
There she was. Like it hadn’t been over a month since they’d last spoken, right after she dropped the lawsuit and Ava called to thank her. Like Ava hadn’t been just as busy, too busy to send her usual Monday Morning meme dump, let alone catch up on the new directions their lives were headed.
“He did not beat me.” Deborah insisted. “I gave up in the last round because Kim was staring at him from the wings and I didn’t want him embarrassing himself, so I let him win.”
“Sure you did.” Ava snarked. Deborah could hear the shit-eating grin through the phone. “Because I know how invested you are in their relationship.”
“Well, this one’s gotta stick. Guy’s only got three wishes before whatever genie he begged to make his dick bigger sucks it all back into his magic lamp.” She bit her lip as Ava laughed. “Anyway, hi.”
