They lounge together in the chaise for a while, relishing on each other's embrace.
Suren pulls apart the tiniest bit and Oak's body almost automatically follows her to minimize the distance.
"Aren't you hungry? Maybe we should grab a bite?" Wren says, her voice raspy and light.
"Now that you mentioned it, I wouldn't mind a warm soup. But most importantly, I do want a bite," Oak says, his fox eyes glimmering with mirth. Wren tries - and fails - not to blush with what he was implying.
"Well then, let's grab a bite first before I bite you," Wren retorts, her sharp teeth showing. The two of them share a laugh - a laugh that transpires between lovers when they have known each other enough to have jokes that no one but the two of them understands. "But you should know that most of the things in the pantry are groceries from Target."
"I love myself a pack of chips," Oak replies with a wink. He adds, "Did you go by yourself to shop there?"
"No. I was there with my un--, with my family," Wren says softly, her whole face becoming more relaxed and happy. "Let's go, prince. Snacks await us," Wren says, standing to her bare feet, her new pair of wings looking majestic as ever.
"And maybe you can also tour me around? I see you've changed the entire composition of the castle," Oak says, hopeful.
Wren smiles and nods then takes his hands to help him stand. Hand in hand, they get their snacks and tour around the what once was the Ice Needle Citadel but now a castle that felt more like home - Wren's home.
And soon to be my home too, Oak cannot help thinking as he smiles to himself. Home is now wherever he and Wren can be together. Oak never thought he'd be thrilled to rule at all, but the thought of being by Wren's side, not to mention continuing supporting his sister and Cardan, warms his heart and gives him peace, despite the fact the he knows how messy court politics are.
