Chapter 1: Athena Kid Headcanons
Chapter Text
1. They can tell when someone is lying or telling the truth, but some can fool them (such as children of Hermes, since he is the god of tricks). This explains why Luke was able to trick Annabeth.
2. They have good foresight to coming dangers and attacks (ex. Annabeth in Tartarus was able to tell when Arachne was coming to attack them.)
3. Olives (a symbol of Athena) can give them strength and heal them when eaten. This comes from the myth in which Athena and Poseidon compete to be the patron god of a town. Poseidon gives the town a fresh spring of water while Athena gives the town an olive tree. The town chose Athena over Poseidon. This was also cause for the beginning of their rivalry.
4. They can plan out the course of a fight (the faster they can do it, the more powerful they are).
5. The most powerful ones have photographic memories (such as Annabeth and maybe Malcolm).
6. Athena can use owls to guide her children if they pray to her.
7. Once they defeat Arachne, spiders no longer come after them and in fact fear them. They can also lose their fear of spiders.
8. Children of Athena can automatically tell the length, height, width, weight, distance, etc. of objects.
Chapter 2: Aphrodite Kid Headcanons
Chapter Text
1. Children of Aphrodite aren’t manipulated easily and can see when someone is trying to seduce them (doesn’t even have to be romantically, it can be with ideals as well).
2. They can change minute aspects of their appearance such as their eye color, hair color, and even small parts of their facial structure. This isn’t them actually changing it, it’s just changing how others perceive how they look. I actually think it’s a small aspect of the Mist in fact. There is some basis to this headcanon. Silena Beauregard’s appearance changed all of the time. In some places she is described as having green eyes, in other blue eyes. She switches between being blonde and brunette as well. I think that this is her changing small parts of her appearance (I know that they’re probably just mistakes, but it’s cool to think that it’s an actual thing). Along with that, Piper’s eyes are described as being kaleidoscope and constantly shifting color. She could’ve just been changing the color of her eyes involuntarily.
3. Children of Aphrodite can breathe underwater for limited amounts of time. This is due to Aphrodite being born of sea foam from the chopped up pieces of Uranus and her emerging from the ocean. This also appears in Mark of Athena when Piper, Jason, and Percy are drowning and Piper is the one to save them.
4. Aphrodite kids don’t have to be physically or romantically attractive to be able to seduce someone. They can easily seduce others into friendship as well.
5. Children of Aphrodite are immune to sirens because of their charmspeak. However, only children of Aphrodite who can use charmspeak (such as Drew, Silena, and Piper) are able to resist them. They can also resist vampire charmspeak (such as Kelli the cheerleader).
6. Children of Aphrodite have an affinity for mist control. Since her children already have the power of charmspeak, which is very similar to the mist as Piper says, it would make sense for them to be able to control the mist. It would frankly make more sense for Piper to be the one who is able to control it (though no offense to Hazel, I love her just as much).
Chapter 3: Bellona Kid Headcanons
Chapter Text
1. Children of Bellona can go into war rages and kill anything in their path. There is a downside to this, though. They cannot tell the difference between friend and enemy when they are like this, and may end up injuring or even killing one of their allies without realizing. Their war rages can happen involuntarily when they are in battle or scared, hurt, angry, etc. Reyna most likely went into one during the battle of San Juan during Blood of Olympus.
2. Their battle wounds can heal quickly on their own, sometimes in the span of a few seconds to hours depending on the injury. However, this cannot reverse death (or can it…?) This explains how Hylla was able to survive for so long in the Son of Neptune when she is fighting to keep her place as Amazon Queen.
3. They have semi-impermeable skin. Obviously if they are blown up, they can’t come back to life. Simple knife or dagger wounds cannot harm them as much, and it takes great force to be able to severely injure them.
4. They can magically spawn weapons out of nowhere (think Loki in Marvel). This takes a lot of energy and often drains them.
Chapter 4: Poseidon Kid Headcanons
Notes:
7/8/24: I know #8 is kinda canon, but I wanted to solidify it here.
Chapter Text
1. Children of Poseidon can bloodbend (fight me). They can manipulate the blood or ichor in a god, monster, or human’s body and manipulate them physically to do what they want. Poseidon himself can do this with ease, but it takes great energy in a demigod to be able to control this type of power. It requires the demigod to have their limits broken to be able to achieve this (similar to how Percy described a “crystal ball” being broken inside of him in House of Hades). Unlike poison bending, once bloobending is achieved, there is no going back, causing permanent damage to the doer’s soul.
2. If injured, children of Poseidon can bloodbend with their own blood, but this can permanently damage their body.
3. They can manipulate the temperature of water (freezing or boiling it).
4. Putting table salt in fresh water and using it to heal a child of Poseidon does work the same as seawater.
5. Just like how they can tell nautical miles, they can also tell how many leagues under the sea they are.
6. They have automatic control and power over the armies of the sea (like how Tyson did when fighting Typhon). Power doesn’t have to be given to them by Poseidon to be able to do this.
7. Legacies of Poseidon might not be able to control water, but they can be healed by it.
8. They can cause earthquakes and other tectonic plate disturbances, but they can’t control the ground and rocks like children of Hades and Demeter can.
Chapter 5: Hermes Kid Headcanons
Chapter Text
1. Hermes kids can teleport anywhere in the world, and this has basis in Luke’s ability to teleport places. This is only for the most powerful children of Hermes, though. Though, it is less of teleportation and more of them being able to run so fast they can get anywhere in the world.
2. This super speed gives them incredibly fast reflexes in fights, enough to challenge even the likes of children of Bellona and Ares.
3. As stated before, children of Hermes are able to lie and deceit even children of Athena, who are especially capable of detecting lies. They can even manipulate children of Aphrodite.
4. Hermes children can sense the content of boxes and other containers without needing to open them.
5. Children of Hermes are able to use telekinesis as shown by Luke, but they are able to use it to a far greater extent than simply being able to whip up some chairs.
6. Children of Hermes can teleport packages anywhere in the world, though it takes a lot of energy.
7. From KitsuSenju, who gave me an amazing idea of theirs, Hermes kids can understand many different languages since Hermes is also the god of language.
Chapter 6: Zeus Kid Headcanons
Chapter Text
1. Since the brain sends electric charges in order to relay information, children of Zeus can fritz that connection and cause serious and permanent brain damage to humans and monsters. It most likely takes great concentration and focus to be able to achieve that, and would likely be draining.
2. Children of Zeus can easily navigate using the stars and constellations without any prior studying.
3. Children of Zeus have mild temperature control over the area around them.
4. Children of Zeus can also utilize their breath in battles. Similar to Superman, they can create frost breath to cool areas. They dan do the opposite with heat breath.
5. Since Zeus is king on Olympus and the god of justice, children of Zeus have a strong moral compass and are always sure of the right and wrong thing to do. However, they can be influenced otherwise, whether it be internal or external doubt.
Chapter 7: Pluto Kid Headcanons
Notes:
Edit 7/2/24: I completely forgot about a cool Hazel power.
Chapter Text
1. This is a specific to Pluto kid power, but they can talk to horses. Pluto was regarded as being the lord of horses in Roman mythology, so it would make sense for them to be able to communicate with horses. This would also change only Percy being able to communicate with Arion since Hazel would be able to as well. Though, this would explain why Arion has such an affiliation with Hazel in the first place.
2. Another only Pluto thing - they can control the cornucopia. The cornucopia was actually a symbol of Pluto, so it would make more sense for Hazel to be the one to use that as a weapon.
3. Children of Hades can manipulate the bones in people’s bodies. It takes more concentration, focus, and energy, but they can snap, break, and twist the bones in the bodies of monsters and humans.
4. If children of Hades shadow travel enough, they can literally become darkness. It’s not death, but it’s a permanent state of having no form. That’s why Will is so scared of Nico shadow traveling too much.
5. Children of Pluto can manipulate the minerals inside the bodies of monsters and humans (such as iron). This could be a form of bloodbending, but it’s more mineral control. It is incredibly difficult, especially since they are microparticles.
6. Children of Pluto can turn their enemies to pure gold or silver. It takes deep concentration, but they can turn them into literal stone. They can also trap them in stone, which takes less effort.
Chapter 8: Demeter Kid Headcanons
Notes:
Edited: 7/30/24
Chapter Text
1. Children of Demeter gain power from eating anything organic, especially just raw grains. Like straight up eating a piece of wheat.
2. They are all amazing farmers and cooks.
3. They are at the same power level as children of the big three since Demeter is one of the original gods (and the only original goddess who is able to have children).
4. They have some geokinesis (earth control) powers, similar to children of Hades. They can cause rocks to levitate, shift the ground underneath, grow rock spires, etc.
5. All children of Demeter are able to have control of slicing weapons and are proficient at them (like how Meg was really good with swords).
6. They can automatically tell species of plants just by looking at them.
7. They cannot die from eating poisonous fruit.
8. They are stronger during spring and summer.
Chapter 9: Apollo Kid Headcanons
Chapter Text
1. Children of Apollo have magic hair that glows when they sing! Flower gleam and glow, let your power shine- I’m just kidding. But seriously they have glowing hair, no matter the hair color.
2. They can feel whenever a prophecy is being spoken, similar to how a child of Hades feels when someone dies. The same goes for descendants/legacies of Apollo.
3. Because of their healing abilities, similar to children of Bellona, they can quickly heal and recover from injuries.
4. Sometimes they can start speaking in only riddles (but other children of Apollo can understand it).
5. They are excellent marksmen with any projectile weapon.
6. All of them can sing well and can play any musical instrument they can get their hands on. Singing can cause their hair to glow (I wasn’t joking guys). Doesn’t have to be the Rapunzel song, but many times it is. It can also cause them to glow in the dark Will Solace style.
7. Each child of Apollo can do all of this, but each of them specialize in one ability. Octavian’s was prophecy, Will’s was healing, Kayla’s was archery, and Austin’s was music. Michael Yew’s was also archery.
8. Author is an Apollogist.
Chapter 10: Ares Kid Headcanons
Notes:
Edit: 7/8/24: Just came up with #6 and I love it so much so I needed to add it!
Chapter Text
1. Ares kids have all of the same powers as Bellona kids (refer back to chapter 3), except their healing is lessened and their battle rages are much stronger. Think of when Frank was fighting the poison cows (literally forgot what they were called) in House of Hades and when Silena was killed by the Drakon and Clarisse killed the Drakon.
2. It is also much easier for children of Ares to summon weapons, though larger weapons require the deaths of enemies to be able to summon them.
3. The more enemies killed, and the larger enemies killed, the stronger they become, physically and mentally.
4. Children of Ares have no regard for blood or gore and don’t flinch when seeing the grossest, most horrible things.
5. Their war cries instill fear in their enemies, and similar to how Nico Di Angelo does it, they can create auras or fear (and even rage).
6. They can turn weapons against their opponents (example: if someone is shooting an arrow at them, they can redirect it with their will). They can also mentally take control of mechanical weapons (though it takes much willpower).
Chapter 11: Hephaestus Kid Headcanons
Chapter Text
1. Hephaestus kids can tell how old a machine or an object is just by looking at it. They can also tell the measurements of it, weight, and how long it will take to repair it.
2. All children of Hephaestus have some immunity to fire, even if they cannot control it. If this is the case, then maybe Beckendorf survived…?
3. Hephaestus kids are most comfortable creating weaponry.
4. When children of Hephaestus with fire abilities create fire, it has to come from the oxygen they breathe in order to fuel the fire. For example, they can’t create fire underwater, if they’re being denied oxygen, or in high atmospheres because they don’t have the oxygen to fuel it.
5. Children of Hephaestus with fire abilities can also breathe fire (though it doesn’t leave a pleasant after taste). Leo probably does this at some point.
Chapter 12: Dionysus Kid Headcanons
Notes:
Edited: 7/30/24
Chapter Text
1. When being claimed by Dionysus at Camp Half Blood, Mr. D simply just points to the kid and says “Mine” before walking away.
2. They can’t get drunk easily, and it takes a lot for it to happen. They also are never hung over and cannot die from alcohol poisoning.
3. All of them throw really good parties.
4. They can curse their opponents with madness briefly. Or, they can curse them to be in an especially festive mood. Or they can curse them to have all of the effects of being drunk without any of the alcohol.
5. They are also adept at helping people with mental health struggles.
6. Children of Dionysus can control plant growth similar to children of Demeter, yet they specialize more in fruits.
7. They can also curse others to act drunk.
8. Using their abilities to curse others, they could potentially mind control monsters into doing their bidding for them and making them attack other monsters. It would take great energy and control, though.
9. They can cure other people of being drunk and having hang overs. They can also cure alcohol poisoning, but it takes a lot more strength, and they cannot reverse it when the person dies.
10. Drinks such as alcoholic drinks and energy drinks give them strength and can increase their powers in battle.
11. Children of Dionysus have a form of charmspeak, that works as persuading people, rather than raw power like Aphrodite kids.
Chapter 13: Hecate Kid Headcanons
Chapter Text
1. They can use telekinesis.
2. They can conjure Greek fire.
3. They also have some foresight of events in the next few minutes if they concentrate.
4. They can channel their magic through weaponry to make their magic more powerful.
5. They can also enchant items to have magical properties.
6. They can curse people with minor injuries, though more serious injuries requires more energy.
7. They are the most powerful Mist users.
8. Hecate sometimes sends Gale to check on them (hint: it doesn’t end well).
Chapter 14: Iris Kid Headcanons
Chapter Text
1. Children of Iris can create rainbows (especially during June ;)
2. Said rainbows can be used to blind others temporarily with their light (or even permanently if said light is shone for long periods of time).
3. They can be used to start small fires.
4. They can also be used to cause mild illusions and hallucinations for people and monsters that fade after a time.
5 Children of Iris can travel very quickly and have higher speed.
6. Pegasi bond well with them, as shown when Butch is able to command the Pegasi chariot well.
Chapter 15: Hypnos Kid Headcanons
Notes:
Edited 8/10/24
Chapter Text
1. Children of Hypnos can steal recent memories from others, though more meaningful memories and farther back memories are more difficult to steal.
2. They can also destroy memories, though that takes even more effort, and they can never be recovered.
3. They can communicate with the gods through their dreams, though communications with Hypnos is the easiest.
4. They can see in the dark.
5. Their pain as well as their emotions are more numbed. This is how Clovis could fit 20 colored pencils in his nostrils.
6. They can temporarily hypnotize or mind control others during battle, though the effects wear off. It takes full concentration, and often is very draining.
7. They can access others’ dreams, though they can sometimes become stuck in them if they’re extremely intense.
Chapter 16: Nemesis Kid Headcanons
Notes:
Since not much is known about the powers of children of Nemesis, I had the most free reign with this, and I had so much fun!
Chapter Text
1. Children of Nemesis have the ability to turn the tide of battles. If their side is losing too much, then they can use their luck bending abilities to give their side more luck. This can include inconveniences to the opposing side, and minor conveniences to their own side, spread equally and deliberately in order to ensure a better chance at victory.
2. This skill can also be used in other situations, though if the loss is self inflicted and could easily have been avoided, then their powers don’t work on it (since it wouldn’t be fair). An example would be not getting good luck on a test you deliberately didn’t study for.
3. They have a strong moral compass of what’s fair and what’s not, though this is to their own morals. This explains Ethan’s willpower to stick with the side of Kronos when Percy tried convincing him to join Camp Half-blood, and why he finally betrayed Luke in The Last Olympian.
4. As they are grandchildren of Nyx, they can see in the dark and have better awareness in darkness. This explains how Ethan was still able to see well even when he didn’t have one eye.
5. As with Ethan losing an eye, they can sacrifice body parts to their mother for better luck.
6. They are very good at convincing others of their moral compass and making them see their view of justice.
Chapter 17: Nike Kid Headcanons
Notes:
Again, there’s barely anything known about the abilities of children of Nike, so I wanted to really expand on their powers! Enjoy!
Chapter Text
1. Children of Nike are guaranteed the ability to have victory in battle, even when their side is losing. This doesn’t mean victory is automatically given to them (that would be unfair), but they always have the ability to gain a success. They just have to put in the work to do it.
2. They are extremely athletic, but each child of Nike specializes in a different sport or ability (like swimming or archery). Whatever they choose, they are incredibly proficient at it, even without training. Training just further expands their abilities.
3. They can wish victory on their allies. It increases their likelihood of victory, but doesn’t determine it.
4. The same goes for wishing victory on their enemies.
5. All of them are incredibly fast.
6. They can fly for small amounts of time. Along with that, they are more attuned with pegasi and never get airsick.
7. They are all incredibly competitive (as shown with Holly and Laurel).
Chapter 18: Hebe Kid Headcanons
Chapter Text
1. Children of Hebe can appear young forever by altering their appearances (similar to Aphrodite kids). It doesn’t necessarily make them look more attractive, but it can.
2. They also can live for much longer than the average mortal (around 150 years old).
3. Injuries don’t appear as much on their skin, also attributing to their hyper healing skills (shown by Paolo).
4. They can also make others appear younger than they are.
5. They can turn monsters and humans into babies or much younger versions of themselves for temporary amounts of time. This can be useful in battle and pranks. It takes much energy and concentration, and even more so to make it permanent.
Chapter 19: Tyche Kid Headcanons
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
1. Children of Tyche can summon money from nowhere (though it takes more energy for more money, and there is a limit). It can be in any currency, though the value of the money is the same for the cap limit, not the amount (say they were summoning one U.S. dollar, they would be able to summon around 80 Indian rupees instead).
2. They can see a little bit into the future (a few minutes at most), though it takes a lot of energy and they are completely vulnerable while doing so. This is on command, unlike the Oracle, and can be described in a normal fashion rather than a weird prophecy.
3. They are incredibly proficient at reading people, so much so that they can almost tell someone’s thoughts (so Chiara definitely knew Apollo was planning to hit her and Damien up).
4. They can also generally tell what someone is about to do next.
5. They can curse people with bad or good luck, but only to a certain extent.
6. They can also enchant objects to give someone worse or better luck.
Notes:
Lemme know if you want me to do any other gods or if I forgot someone lol. Hope you enjoyed!
Chapter 20: Terpsichore Kid Headcanons
Notes:
Guess who has more gods and goddesses they want to add? This bored AO3 writer! I’m adding Terpsichore and Orcus since they have demigod children in the series (Lavinia and Bryce). Since I’m reopening this, I’m also going to add more to other gods. Let me know if you have any ideas!
Chapter Text
1. Children of Terpsichore have speed that can rival the children of Hermes, though this speed can be used for running, dancing, singing, you name it. It allows them to complete any task quickly and accurately.
2. They can all sing well and in tune, but their voices can also beautifully compliment any other singer’s voice, no matter what the song.
3. They can all sing well in falsetto as well.
4. They have an innate ability to read any musical clef (treble, alto, bass, you name it).
5. While they can’t pick up any instrument and know it immediately like children of Apollo, they can learn it quickly.
6. Their singing can give strength and stamina to others and themselves.
7. Singing from others also makes them stronger (such as on Caligula’s boat when Piper was singing and Lavinia was there) (at least I think she was, I don’t like rereading that part for obvious reasons 🥲).
Chapter 21: Orcus Kid Headcanons
Chapter Text
1. Children of Orcus can tell what makes you suffer emotionally and physically just by looking at you. This is how Bryce Lawrence knew how to push Nico’s buttons in “Blood of Olympus”.
2. They have a higher chance of turning to the dark side or joining monsters.
3. Causing others’ suffering makes them stronger and increases their abilities, such as necromancy.
4. They can basically drain the energy out of others using this logic.
5. Children of Orcus can travel freely from the Underworld and back.
6. They can nullify the powers of the children of Hades.
7. They have an affinity with any weapon. While it’s not a natural knowledge, they can wield the weapon better than most with minimal training.
8. Killing others also gives them more strength, thus Bryce killing his centurion.
9. They have a strong sense of punishment and justice, though their form of justice is often different and more cruel than others,
Chapter 22: Thanatos Kid Headcanons
Notes:
*rises back from the dead*
Sorry for disappearing for a bit, I’ve been really busy and I haven’t had the time to update. I’m gonna keep updating my other stories kinda erratically, so keep looking out for that!
Chapter Text
1. They can sense death and decay as well as how close someone is to dying or not.
2. They can float and fly for short distances like Thanatos does with his wings. However, it is draining and takes much of their energy.
3. They can use their willpower to kill someone. They have to be in sight and already weakened. This is the most taxing of their abilities but also the most powerful.
4. They can travel to and from the Underworld at will and are immune to the pomegranate seeds.
5. They can find where the Doors of Death are and use them at will.
6. They can take control of people who are supposed to be dead and bend them to their will.
7. They can manipulate darkness with their mind, though they cannot shadow travel.
8. With some effort, they can make an educated guess about how soon someone will die.
9. They are unaffected by auras of fear and death, especially from children of Hades.
