Summary
With his last mate’s abandonment and passing, Veritas had a hard time navigating the world of romance because of his duty to fulfill as a single father. Constant imposter syndrome of whether he was actually a good father to his son lived in his mind to the point he was too exhausted to look at others more clearly. Because of the persistent paranoia, Veritas failed to notice that there had been someone always standing next to him, supporting him, and even waiting for him to finally see him.
Aventurine was fine being a bystander as long as he can keep Veritas close enough. Even if it meant to sacrifice the emotions that involuntarily blossomed over the years for the doctor.
Or, Veritas and Aventurine "indirectly" raise the alpha’s cub together, never addressing the elephant in the room after years of pining.
