Summary
Automatically his hand falls to her waist, rubbing circles along the shape of her belly. His hand is practically glued to that spot since they suspected she was with child. In all her years of knowing Colin, Penelope had never seen him so happy and she certainly, not even in her wildest dreams, would not have considered the source of his happiness would be her and the product of their love.
She is drifting to sleep from the warmth of the afternoon sun when she feels a gentle flutter, almost like being tickled, from inside her stomach. Her hand immediately flies to the stop, resting over Colin’s outstretched fingers.
“Have I hurt you?” Colin asks, full of concern.
“No.” Penelope shakes her head. It takes her a moment before she catches her breath and squeezed Colin’s hand reassuringly. “I think I felt the baby move.”
