Chapter 1: Pizza Wars

Chapter Text

It was a dark and stormy night, the rain poured down in sheets and lightning flashed, illuminating a lone building, a diner, in a giant empty parking lot. It was pitch black inside, with a few holes in the roof, the rain forming into large puddles on the black and white checkered floor, as rapid footsteps could be heard.
A lone girl, no older than twelve, was trying to find her way out of the restaurant as the thing continued to pursue her, limbs outstretched to snatch the child and drag her to it.
The child ran towards a single hall, hoping to get to the door at the end, when she slipped, and her forearm was immediately ensnared by the thing’s long thin arms and began to drag the child towards the stage where he waited behind the curtains.
There were loud springing noises as the child was pierced by the springlocks inside the large bear animatronic, with the thing grinning and a man standing further away and a blood curdling scream echoed throughout the diner before slowly fading away as the man dragged the thin monster away.

It was another brand new day and the morning sun shone on Freddy Fazbender’s pizzeria, Freddy’s eyes watchful as a girl with orange skin approached the shoddy building. The girl wore an orange sleeveless dress emblazoned with a flame stitched to the front to match, black and orange leggings, white dress shoes and a red scarf wrapped around her neck. She peered across the abnormally large parking lot that she had walked halfway across, separating the restaurant from the other buildings, as it was like a black hole, sucking in anything that got too close to the mouldy, faulty animatronic pizza chain.

The young girl held a shoddily made map that was drawn with crayons, a black line leading from what looked like one house (the current house she was hiding out in) towards a poorly drawn Freddy head, meant to be the restaurant.
This was definitely the place. Shoving the map into her dress pocket, the orange girl began crossing the parking lot.
As she approached the two glass doors of the restaurant, two voices became louder as two people shouted inside, causing the young girl to pause.
Is it a good idea to enter now? The girl wondered to herself, as a number of anything could be waiting behind those doors, whether it be strange roaches that lurk around, stealing customers empty chip bags, a robot yelling about pizza, someone yelling while holding up a fifty ton fox animatronic, or even an aurora borealis showing up and vaporising one of the customers.
The orange girl shook her head. “I’ve been in a number of these locations by now, and they’re about the same, honestly this couldn’t be anymore…” She opened the door and saw an entire pizza war was going on.
   “…Weirder.”
Pizza had been thrown all over, decorating the edges of tables, before slipping down, splattering to the already saucy black and white marble floor and plastered against the walls and booths. Children and adults alike had also been struck by the bombarding slices, having some of the pieces on their person, everyone having taken cover, including the mysterious scuttlers. They hid behind the stage curtains, behind arcade cabinets, and even behind tables that had been turned on their sides for protection and others had shields as well from the prize corner.
“Dave!” A voice shouted from across the pizza plex.
A man with a red rotary phone for a head was holding a pizza in one hand as he pointed across the room with his other.
“You’d better stop throwing those gosh darn hecking pizzas right now and get back to work, employee!”
Across from the man was another, much taller, man, who had entirely purple skin that he had been born with, due to some birth defect and had pizzas strapped to his chest in leather straps and entire pizza boxes all balanced in one hand, one of them open as he held one slice in his free hand.
The man laughed maniacally. “Not a chance, Scott Cawthon! It’s over now! I have the high ground!” He hurled a pizza at the phone-headed man, Scott, who ducked just in time, before throwing two of his own pizzas as a counterattack and Dave, being as skinny and limber as he was, dodged each of the pizzas flawlessly, throwing the pizza boxes into the air before catching them back in his arm.
“Dave! This will come out of your paycheque!” Scott shouted.
“What paycheque?! The scummy tokens you call “employee minimum wage?” Dave was doing a single hand stand as the phone-headed man tossed an entire pizza disc like a frisbee, passing between his legs, before it splattered against the other pizzas on the far wall, now covered in the cheese and pepperoni pies and marinara sauce.
Scott continued throwing. “Gosh hecking darn it, employee, if you don’t return to your job right now, you’re fired!” He threatened.
“You can sure as hell try, but I’ll just come back! I always do, Scott! I always do!” Dave dodged another pizza, spitting a raspberry back at his boss.
“Dave, don’t make me use force!” “Ooh! Getting a little feisty aren’t we there? We haven’t even gone on our first date Phoney.” Dave grinned slyly.
Scott was enraged now, his stats, attack and defence went up. He clenched his fists.
“Ooh, looks like Phone-face is getting a little testy! Seems I struck a nerve! What’cha gonna do?” Dave asked, putting a hand on his hip, posing like a fashion model on a runway. The orange girl stepped further into the pizzeria and spoke up, just as Scott began to pull out a long metal weapon.
   “Excuse me.”
Scott panicked, turning towards the young girl before shooting.
Suddenly, the orange girl felt a soft and doughy texture slam into her face, and she ended up flying outside of the restaurant into the parking lot, her vision beginning to fade as she heard the two duellers rush out to her.
   “Hey! Isn’t that…?”
“Quick! Get her to the office room!”“What?! Scott, no! You said that was off limits! Besides, I don’t want her near that…”
The two began to argue about something, before everything went black.

Footsteps could be heard walking, before stopping.
“Excuse me, Henry? What are we doing here?” Asked a male voice.
“William, I need you to do something for me. I can’t do it myself. I’m sure you know what I mean by now. You must…” A second man trailed off, seeming to mumble his last words, but the first man caught it.
“WHAT?! No! Henry, I went along with this because I thought this was for the best, but this seems extreme! I know this is what we were planning ‘n all, but she’s just a…”
“I know, but this is what must be done. We have to protect our family and this is the only way.”
“No! Henry! I won’t do it! Not this time! Those other kids, the cops…Henry, there has to be another way!”
Silence. The second man didn’t seem to like what the first one had said. He slowly turned to face him.
“You’re refusing? I thought you would know better than to refuse my order, Willy.”
“W-What’s going on with you Henry? You…you’re not acting like yourself!”
“Willy. This is what we must do for our diner. Our family. If you do not obey me, I will have no choice but to use force on you.”
“…No! Y’know what?! I’m done! I don’t have a goddamn clue what’s gotten into you Henry, but I’m through with your “legacy” or whatever the hell you want to call it! I’m outta here! Consider this my resignation! See you in Hell you old fuck!” Rapid footsteps were heard as the first man ran away, bolting towards the entrance of the diner.
“William! Willy! You will get back here this…”
A loud shriek caused the second man to freeze, recognizing the sound and he immediately bolted to the dining room.

He stood upon the stage, blood seeping out of the bear animatronic onto the wood and the thing floated in front and a blood curdling scream echoed throughout the diner.

The orange girl’s eyes fluttered open as she opened her eyes to a concrete roof covered in grease from some unknown source.

She felt something sharp poking into her back and she looked to her left to see she was lying down on an old mattress, springs showing through the fabric, making the wake up less comfortable than if she would have woken up on the hard mattress back at her house.
She looked around, and saw two animatronics standing against the wall. A strange rat creature with puncture holes in the torso and metal limbs and the infamous Fredbear, which needs no introduction.
“Fredbear? Did…did you bring me here?” The young girl realised how stupid that sounded. The animatronic wasn’t the same as the real Fredbear.
  “I did.”
The young girl turned to the wall to her left and saw the towering purple man leaning there, arms folded. He looked concerned, but at the same time, surprised to see her there.
“Pumpkin, is…is that really you?” He asked.
“It’s been a while William. Going by Dave now, I see.” Pumpkin answered. The former, known as William Afton, nodded.
“Yeah. I have to go undercover for a while so people don’t know that I’m from Fredbear’s Family Diner.” He shook his head, deciding to change the subject. “But what the hell are you doing here? How…how did you survive…that?” He looked at Pumpkin with worry.
“I wish I could say I did, but that isn’t what happened.“
Dave couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “What?! What on earth do you…”

A knock came at the door, before Scott entered.
“Gosh hecking darn it Dave! You were supposed to immediately come get me as soon as the child woke up!” He shouted, angry.
“I wasn’t just gonna leave her alone in this creepy room with Fredbear and Farfour!” Dave protested.
“Oh, she would have been fine! Besides, you’re supposed to be getting back to your job! Now get back in that suit!” Scott pointed towards the door. Dave scowled, his demeanour towards the phone man completely changed from earlier.
He marched out the door, shoving Scott out of the way as he did so.
The phone man looked over at Pumpkin still sitting on the bed. “Well, come on then. This isn’t a hotel, let’s get you out. I’ll give you a free pizza and some tokens if you promise not to sue.”
“I don’t take bribes phone-man.” Pumpkin scowled as she rose from the bed. Scott was taken aback. “Now, now. I’m just offering you some free pizza after that traumatising ordeal you just went through, it’s only fair that I…”
“I’m not here to accept bribes or eat pizza. I applied for a job here two weeks ago, remember? I gave you my name and address and my resumé.” The orange girl snapped.
BScott stared at her, stone still, his phone face unreadable.
“Oh, sure. And I’m Michael Jackson. I think that’s enough tomfoolery from you, now…”
Pumpkin pulled out the piece of paper crumpled in her pocket and shoved it in Scott’s face.
He looked at the paper for a few seconds, before gently taking it out of her hands, inspecting it for a while, then stared at her. “You’re not joking.” He didn’t seem too phased that a child would apply for a job at Freddy Fazbender’s.
“My apologies ma’am. But please, take these tokens, so you don’t sue us.” Scott forced one hundred tokens into Pumpkin’s hands and backed away so she wouldn’t give them back to him. She pocketed the tokens, glowering at the man, but said nothing.
“Right, as customary with all new employees, I am to give you a tour of the facilities, so step right this way please. Just don’t mention to anyone what you saw back here either. We don’t want them knowing we have Fredbear after the incident back in Reno.” Scott ushered Pumpkin out of the room, but a loud garbled noise caused her to jolt and turn back to the yellow bear, now spewing out black oil, jittering wildly as he spazzed around, his head spinning before it stopped, oil dripping down onto the floor. She saw something dart away, and stand there, away from the bear. It was a…strange shadow thing that looked like a man. Before she could say anything, Scott spoke. “Oh…that’s…completely normal around here, that’s always happened!” He ushered Pumpkin out of the room, before locking it up.
“Right this way then! The tour starts with the stage!”

Behind the door of the storage room, a shadowy figure, having turned into a shadow from his spite, with pink eyes, a pink mouth and a pink outline, had entered the room a little late, having been chasing off mysterious scuttlers, before disappearing into the void, and had been hiding behind Fredbear at the same time Scott had arrived into the room, before the shadow had accidentally brushed the animatronic, causing it to act up.

“She’s…no, not alive. But…reanimated? How is that possible?! I saw her die! I…I killed her!” The man formerly known as Henry Miller said.
He stepped through the door and hurried down the hallway, knowing where the manager had taken his niece.

The button was pressed and a tape began playing. Day one since my niece has been staying over. My brother Fritz gave her over to me earlier and I had originally refused, as I had my hands full and I don’t believe I would be a good Uncle to her. But after much convincing from Fritz, I had no other choice. He is very persuasive. He used that damn face on me again, and he always wins! Anyway, she is very shy. I mean, really shy. I feel sorry for the poor girl. She was constantly bullied in school, has no friends and went through a very traumatic ordeal, being held hostage for a bit, a gun pointed towards her, before she was rescued.
Luckily, she has managed to warm up to Willy. He is very good with kids like that.  Could almost convince a baby to give him its candy if he so chose to do so. But, I still don’t believe I will be a good Uncle. I lost my son David because of my poor decisions in the past, and even had told Fritz this. He said it wasn’t my fault, but even so…I was responsible for letting that monster kill my son when I hired him back in my circus days. But when my brother makes a decision, there is no convincing him otherwise.
   *sigh*
I will just have to do the best I can for her while he is away on a business trip.
