Work Text:
“Goddamnit,” Gerry sighed.
Michael looked up from his food – less than fancy fast food that the two had decided upon on after an annoying day of work. “What is it?”
“Look out the window, it's absolutely pouring.”
The closest window was a bit away, but Gerry wasn't wrong; it looked almost gray, mist lingering in the air along with the heavy downpour. Michael could just barely see their car, far enough from the entrance that they would definitely get their clothes soaked if they tried to walk there now.
“Oh lord,” he muttered, and Gerry nodded. They both hesitantly looked at their food. There wasn't much left.
“Well,” Michael began, “one of us could bring the car around?”
“Nose goes,” Gerry quickly said, putting his finger against his nose and smiling that stupid smile.
“Oh, I see how it is, screw you.”
“It’s not my fault you’re slow.”
“It’s not my fault you're a cheater.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, Michael,” he said condescendingly.
Michael leaned back in the booth and glanced out the window again. He could hear the raindrops against it now, heavy and berating. “Do we even want to go outside in that?”
Gerry shrugged, following his gaze. “Don’t know. But, I don’t necessarily want to sit in here for however long it may be raining.”
“...So are we going to get the car or not?”
“ We ?”
“You cheated so you’re coming with me.”
“Wow. You’re so mean to me.”
“If I’m driving with wet clothes, I’m making you suffer with me.”
Gerry sighed and rolled his eyes. “Fine, but you’re helping me with the laundry from this.”
With that Michael stood up and put together the trash, Gerry quickly joining. They hesitated at the door, Gerry taking off his leather jacket and bunching it up in a way to avoid it getting wet, and Michael wishing he wore a hoodie as his hair was not going to agree with this.
He grabs hold onto Gerry’s hand and drags him through the door – much to his complaints – them both getting hit by a wall of mist and windswept rain.
" Jesus ," Gerry muttered, holding his jacket tight to his chest.
"We'll only get more soaked if we stay out here!" Michael continued to pull him through the parking lot, Gerry stumbling behind him. "For someone who used to chase down Leitners, you're slow."
Gerry kicked Michael's foot in response, making him similarly stumble and tug Gerry down with him.
"God dangit," Michael laughed, letting go of Gerry's hand to push himself up. "So much for trying to be quick!"
"Sorry, I wasn't trying to actually make us fall!"
Michael smiled and took Gerry's hand in his again, pulling him up and pressing a kiss to his palm. "You're lucky I love you. Not enough to not do this though," he smiled again and let go again, making Gerry fall once again to the floor.
" Screw you! " he sputtered as he scrambled up, taking steps away from Michael and sticking out his tongue at him.
"Whatever, let's get out the rain now."
"We would've been out already if you didn't drag me like a kid..." Gerry murmured.
"What was that?" Michael said with a purposefully annoying smile.
"Nothin'."
