“Hold up, hold up.” Bart puts his hand out, stopping Adrien.
“Did I say something wrong?” Adrien tilts his head slightly.
“You’ve never seen fireworks before. That is majorly wrong! This is an injustice that must be fixed. Come on. We are fixing this right now. I know exactly how.”
Bart grabs ahold of Adrien’s wrist, gently pulling him along. The blonde curiously gives into the motion.
Slowly but surely, they make it to Bart’s guest room within the Queen mansion. Adrien cannot make sense of why this is the destination if Bart was supposed to be fixing a firework problem.
It is not until Bart reveals two random pieces of jewelry that Adrien really starts to question things. What are a pocket watch and compass going to do?
Clearly way more than Adrien thought. A rabbit and a hare pop out of the jewelry. He is hit with lots of conflicting emotions. He should not be this hype over little floating creatures yet here he is getting hyped over them.
“Adrien don’t tell Barry I showed you this. Let’s just say that I would be grounded for life.”
“Okay… Why do I feel like this is dangerous?”
“It’s not dangerous at all,” Bart waves his hands dismissively.
“What is it we are doing with these guys?”
Bart answers Adrien by showing him. A big flash of white and brown takes over the speedster. Adrien cannot help but awe at the new costume. It was super fluffy.
“We are going to go visit an old friend of Tim’s. I said I would visit some time, and this is the perfect scenario. You get to meet her and see fireworks. It is a win-win.”
Adrien raises an eyebrow as a portal opens. It was certainly not the strangest thing he had seen. Being a marksman amongst powered people makes you lose your ability to truly be surprised by most things.
Yeah, this was about to be one of those things that does get him surprised.
Once they get through the portal, it shuts behind them slowly. They are met by tons of destruction. A giant foot comes stomping down toward them.
Bart grabs Adrien in his arms. He runs them out of the way. In an instant, the scene fades. Two people stare at them.
“How did you get in the danger room? Was that a portal? Who the hell are you?”
“Roberto, slow down. I think I recognize one of them. Bart?”
“Jubilee!”
Bart places Adrien down then runs to give the girl a hug. Adrien is left in the same state of confusion as the other man.
“Oh!” Jubilee exclaims. “I should probably explain. There was a time when a few of the X-men got trapped in an entirely different multiverse and I just so happened to be there. I meet this kid named Tim Drake. We hit it off and promised to keep in touch. It seems that Bart came to visit.”
“Yes! A visit as well as ask a favor.”
“Oh? What can I do?”
“Adrien here has never seen fireworks before.”
Jubilee gasps. She smacks Roberto’s shoulder in disbelief. He shakes his head at her.
“You came to the right place. Firework fingers here is my personal show.”
“Hey, these are for my entertainment and your benefit. Remember that.”
“Right, right.”
Adrien sits back as the rest unfolds. The danger room turns pitch black, and Jubilee takes the center stage with Roberto by her side.
As Roberto had said, fireworks shoot from hands. It is one of the coolest sights Adrien has had the chance of experiencing.
They pop in multiple colors and sizes. Adrien is mystified. It gets even cooler when Roberto joins in with bright blasts of energy that had flair to the original. They blend so well. A match made in the stars.
Adrien cannot help but pull Bart in close. Bart somewhat nerves up at the motion. He lets it happen though.
In one swift motion, Adrien lays a kiss upon Bart’s cheek. Before he can say the words to thank him, Bart pulls him back in. Their lips meet.
Jubilee places her arm upon Roberto’s shoulder and the couple smile.
“It seems our work here is done.”
