Chapter Text
Lucifer was no stranger to illness. Despite being the most powerful guy this side of the dimension, he still suffered the punishments that heaven bestowed on every sinner, fallen angel or not.
The middle ages were rough. Lucifer had suffered through it all, from scarlet fever to whooping cough. He slept through half of the black death, curled up with his plague stricken wife, having caught the ruthless illness from a maid.
Even with modern medicine his immune system betrayed him on the reguler. He and Lilith were often out of commission, between his coughs and wheezing bouts and her chronic headaches below her horns that antagonised her for days on end, they found themselves repeatedly bedridden.
The night before, Lucifer had gone to bed with a sore throat, already dreading what he knew was coming. He awoke at 4am, sweaty and tangled in his wife's mass of long blonde hair, which had fallen out of its braid. His head pounded, the lights from the city outside lit up his window in a blinding way. He was in his daughters hotel, a terrain less familiar than his own home, which resided in the peaceful countryside of eastern pride, away from the noise and the lights and the smells that made him dizzy with overstimulation.
His body jerked as he heaved, barely holding in last night's dinner. His retching had stirred Lilith, as she had laid her head on his lap during sleep. Her eyes shone in the dim room, and he gave her one panicked look before vomiting in the bed, narrowly missing the chest of his wife.
Lilith was still dreary, her sleepy state still clutching to her. Her hands stumbled around the bed until she found her husband, who was sweaty, shaking, and now covered in vomit. She cradled him to her chest anyways, clothes and sheets could be cleaned.
“Should we go home to wash up…” she yawned midway through her sentence, using her magic to emit a faint glow from her fingertips, careful not to blind him.
Lucifer seemed to nod, although it was difficult to tell due to the fact he was still shaking between her boobs. He understood enough to wave his hand weakly, opening up a portal.
Lilith decided she would come back later to clean the sheets. She sleepily flopped off the bed, dragging her husband through to the comfort of their own home, landing on the bathroom floor.
The feeling of teleportation had made Lucifer sick once again during the process, and Lilith now felt it running down her back. She tried not to shriek, feeling bad for him, but it made her nightgown stick to her in a revolting way as she peeled it off, turning on the shower nozzle.
She hosed herself down first, leaving Lucifer sitting on the shower floor with his head in his hands, doing her best to quickly rinse the sick out of her hair. Lucifer weakly pulled himself from the sitting position, onto the showers bench, barely aware of the world, drunk on his own misery, opening his mouth slightly to allow water in.
He suddenly felt the wonderful embrace of his wife, now sitting next to him, as she ran her hands over his weak form, clearing away any vomit. He laid his head between her boobs, rubbing his feverish face into the coolness of her pale skin.
Once they had been washed clean of sickness, Lilith took his hands, leading him out of the shower. With a flick of her wrist a strong gust of wind manifested and they were both instantly dried, her hair puffing out behind her like a cloud.
At this point, the sun had started to rise, streaming through the curtains. As Lucifer dragged himself into bed, he used the last of his strength to drop the blackout curtains, plunging the room into comforting darkness.
He curled himself into a ball on top of the covers, still naked. Lilith stolled towards their large shared bed, holding his nightgown. She pulled him upright, slipping the long garment over his head, letting him fall into her chest afterwards. She smelled like baby powder and smoke, with a hint of her favourite perfume from the day before. He nuzzled into her breasts, their warmth setting his whole body at ease. Lucifer let out a soft sigh, his body limp as he allowed her to lay him down in the bed, with a bowl on the bedside table in case he threw up again.
