I love drama and I love mess so i’m absolutely obsessed with the current mo guan shan scandal we haven’t had an issue this juicy since it turned out that former a-list actress jiaye had an affair with a mobster which is why she disappeared 2 decades ago if you want more tea on that you can click here (x)
so let me explain the mo guan drama on weibo and it’s implications it has for mo guan shan’s place within the industry with my unnecessary long deep dive
so first things first let me explain how mo guan shan rose to fame, he first started out as a lead singer-songwriter for his punk rock band called DogBite back when he was in high school together with his best friends buzzcut and brunette.
the band was a local success primarily playing in underground clubs and then they changed to playing at night clubs by the time they graduated high school they were playing local festivals and were featured on the local news . clips can be find here (x) (x) (x)
after playing a couple local festivals they were approached to be part of berry tv’s newest survival show which was basically battle of cbands and the groups and mgs first real interaction with mainstream media.
the show was really popular with teens and young workers, the especially loved DogBite’s approach to music but most people fell in love with group’s dynamic especially with mgs who was both tough big brother but also the mom of the group and how easily he switched his persona’s because we see an incredible tough and serious mgs in the studio and during rehearsal but during the vlogging/at home setting we see a lovely mgs who cooks and takes cares of the band the juxtaposition made people really fall for him as a celebrity
DogBite ended up 3rd in the competition but they were the only group who ended up getting signed to an entertainment company affiliated BerryTv with called BB entertainment.
BB entertainment was simply incapable of taking care of the punk rock band they only managed 2 groups before DogBite one ballad group and one idol group with little to no success so getting a group that was really popular they were unable to capitalize on it all and made some huge mistakes along the way from backing out of festivals for cheap commercials and quick cash grabs which alienated the groups from fans and colleagues. The group kept releasing songs with average sales little support from the fans.
the company started to push mgs as celebrity more than just the lead singer by making him appear in a couple variety show as guest or temporary host or even putting him as a judge in a few talent/survival shows and put the rest of the band songwriters for different artists and a show appearance here and there
the real break came when buzzcut won a celebrity e-sports competition and when mo guan shan was the unexpected highlight in a low budget apocalypse movie that actually broke the box office beating out He Tian's return to the big screen (this only lasted a few days and HT's move stayed number 1 for several months ........ don't ever underestimate HT's fanbase)
The band released their latest comeback "secrets" after mgs was done with the press tour for the movie and that the group will be leaving their company BB entertainment (everybody rejoice !!!) and will be going on extented hiatus before resigning to a different company.
This really started the rumor mills people thought they might sign with PC studios (well known music studios ) or even OrangeTV's affliated entertaiment company (they were the e-sport game tournament and gave buzzcut a bunch of love calls publicly) or to one of the biggest entertainment companies Starlight Ent which is under He Corparation banner because even if the boys were loved .... were they at the level to be taken by the giant who primarily debuts their own artist through their own trainee system
Now here is when things get murky/shady if you will couple months after the hiatus announcement it was revealed through insiders that MGS would be signing on to Starlight Ent as a solo artist and actor would be basically be abandoning the group this caused so much drama and tears in the fandom and later MGS himself confirmed that he will be joining NOT Starlight entertainement wbut one of their sublabels .... HT studios which was an actor studio completely dedicated team for He Tian .... he has been the only artist under the label since his debut"
So you can imagine how insane HT's fanbase was when the news broke out like who needs a water army if you have the most insane/rich fangirls who can control weibo themselves like MGS and fans did not stand a chance but before HT's weibo post shut everything down before it got any bigger
turns out that MGS and HT met on the set of HT's upcoming OrangeTV's costume drama "The Legend of General Wei" where MGS played a small recurring role on. He found out MGS was a free agent at the time recruited the singer himself. if you want full translation of HT's post you can find it here (x)
Regarding the band MGS commented in an interview that the band will be completely independant from any agency going forward. They will finally make decisions for themselves and the future of the group and that hopefully they will be promoting next year but right now he will focus on acting and the rest will take their well deserved break after being overworked for 3 years straight.
if you are still here after all that let's talk about the actual allegations 3 months after HT's statement and when everything was starting to die down a former entertainment journalist and well known gossip reporter dropped the bomb that MGS has a goldmaster since his debut days and that person opened a lot of doors for him (getting into Starlight Ent/the movie role and the recurring role on TLOGW). He didn't drop specifics but with all the information we have now it's not hard to draw conclusions
so it got people thinking and finding evidence left and right for his ALLEGED relationship with He Cheng and guys i'll be be honest it's noy looking good for MGS. i'll be naming 5 most damning
1. turns out that He Corperations invested a substantial amount of money last minute into the production of Battle of the Bands. you might think that is normal for a company to invest in tv shows and you would be right but what if i tell that BerryTV is a company under a known competitor from He Corperations.
the current thought around this is that He Cheng paid for MGS to get more screentime and a better cut/storyline in the show with weibo comments from 3 years ago as proof with people saying that they feel MGS is being pushed in their faces
2. MGS has been wearing custom made black diamond earrings since debut, it's almost impossible to get custom made products from this particular designer not only do you need to be a part of the top 1% in their clientele you need a personal connection with them and you know who does match all the criteria .... He Cheng
3. since debut we have multiple photo's of MGS hanging out/being protected by Brother Qiu this connection was only recently put those together like who else would get the protection of He Cheng's personal bodyguard if not his lover before the man in pictures was thought to be childhood friend
4. MGS once abruptly left an major award show (a huge faux pas) with no explanation to fans and staff afterwards, the company later explained the situation as MGS having a family emergency. a couple days after the show it was announcement that president He from the He Corperations had passed away and that He Cheng would officially take over
5. now the piece of resistance MGS was photograph getting the He Cheng's car multiple times mostly at his dorm during his BB entertainment days. we know it is He Cheng's car because of his customized license plate
i personally also have some theories myself about the whole situation mostly why people aren't considering the possibility that MGS is dating Brother Qiu .... HAVE YOU SEEN THAT MAN HE LOOKS RAVISHING .... moving on it holds genuine ground because it's not unheard of Brother Qiu driving HC's car for personal use as seen here (x) (x) (x) and i peeped his personal social media (don't ask me how i got in i will keep that to the grave) it looks like he has gifted MGS wine and took him to dinner quite a couple of time (x) (x) (x) like i'm rooting for Brother Qiu
another theory that is running around is that this is cover up for the upcoming audit and board meeting for He Corperations it's no secret that He Cheng's rise to power was not without struggle and it wouldn't suprise them if it turns out a board member leaked false/real allegations to cause more problems during the board meeting.
there is also a more outlandish claims of a cover up mostly pertaining He Tian .... we all know that He Tian is considered THEE playboy in the industry from a-list actresses, idols and socialites. if we can believe any of the rumors he pretty run through the entire industry (if you want a rundown i can sent you one through dm .... not fucking with his fans) according to rumors he tian might have broken the heart and/or knocked up a high ranking politician daughter and MGS and HC are being used to keep the press busy so they can fix this HT situation

omg this drama is way more complicated than i thought but i'm suprisingly really invested in this i honestly think the brother qiu angle might actually hold and why were the pictures of their dinner dates so cute and i wouldn't be suprised if they threw MGS under the bus for HT everybody knows he is the little prince of the He Corperations

Chapter 3: Mo Guan Shan’s first role

When company first started giving the group individual activities, Mo Guan Shan feared for his life because he just wanted to make music he didn’t want anything else. Just him and his best friends writing in the studio and singing their heart on stage… it was all he ever wanted.
So when they first put the movie script and the contract in front of Mo Guan Shan he couldn’t believe it. He kept staring at the script like it would burst into flames the minute he would look away.
Him … an actor …. when he was barely succeeding as a temporary host on a 3rd rate music network they forced him on.
The hosting he could understand, fuck he knew that on paper he was the perfect fit for the music network. He was an artist under one of their entertainment companies, he knows and loves music.
He would interview his colleagues and friends play games before letting them promote their next single. When his band haven’t even released or performed in months it was actual torture for him.
He would be lying if the consistent hosting didn’t improve his dictation immensely which helped his singing more than he likes to admit. He stopped mumbling the words away and it made recording easier on everybody involved.
He won’t lie learning scripts by heart and how camera angles worked was harder than passing any of his classes back in High school and he actually took the STEM course (was it for 3 months before switching to humanities with a specialization in arts and music maybe but he still took the midterms so screw you)
Sure Mo Guan Shan could probably just show up on set and recite a few lines but the thought of actually acting is a whole different ball game.
He knows it intimately, he saw his boyfriend He Tian practice for hours since their school days, researching characters and their backstory. He Tian would talk his ear off about the motivations of all his characters no matter big or small the part was.
Acting, the way He Tian acted was somehow truly magical to him like the way he was utterly shameless when portraying someone he was not. It became as easy as breathing for him. It was like he relished in being anybody but himself.
He Tian would lay next him late at night and tell him “You are the best part of me” like he would simply not exist he couldn’t have Mo. It was frightening the way He Tian loved him so deeply yet it would still feel like he could disappear any second.
Acting was never for him, it was scary in a way singing could never be. Mo Guan Shan has made all mistakes on stage from falling on his face, missing a million and one notes or when his voice broke on national television.
Yet he didn’t have a shred of fear because was never alone on stage, just having Buzzcut on the drums behind gave him all the peace he needed.
But the company has a 100% full control of their activities as group and soloists so he doesn’t have a choice in matter and they were the main investor in movie. He truly shouldn’t have rushed his contract with them.
But the adrenaline of being 3rd place in the competition and the fact a company wanted them… as a whole not trying to get just Mo Guan Shan as a lead singer or Buzzcut as a drummer no they wanted their group as a whole. They were young and stupid and signed their contract a bit too quickly.
Just 7 more months before he is free from the contract and 3 more before the release of single “secrets”.
Looking at the script in front of him, Mo Guan Shan could feel the headache forming already. From what he heard from his manager the movie has been stuck in production hell for the last 4 years.
The main writer and the director has been changed over 7 times, the script was rewritten 12 times and 3 investors have pulled out and only one actor from the original cast is still available for filming (the only one stupid enough to actually sign on).
It went from one of the most anticipated scripts 4 years ago to a low budget movie and with BB entertainment being one of the new and now only investor so they were able to snatch a role for one of their artists.
Mo Guan Shan was the lucky one, the role wasn’t big but wasn’t small either. He was reading through the script and it was surprisingly really good. Sure it was a very cliché for an action movie but the script kept his attention the whole time. He even teared up a couple of times.
The role he was given was the muscle of the group, a small time gangster named Ye Shao who dies halfway through the movie. The character’s death is one of the more emotional parts of the movie and he actually gets a bit of backstory as well.
If it weren’t for all the rumors surrounding the production and the low budget people would have fought for this role.
He didn’t have a choice in the matter, he just needed to sign the contract in front of him and get ready for the first table read next week.
The filming would only take a month since most of his scenes were early in the movie and Mo Guan Shan has never more thankful that He Tian is stuck in the mountains up north shooting his latest movie with extremely limited signals for the next few months.
Because the sheer embarrassment of starting his acting career is something he wants to do on his own thank you very much.
Mo Guan Shan can do this, he has helped He Tian millions of times practicing lines (that usually ended up with them in bed). He filmed commercials and music videos like he isn’t new to this.
So what if the last he really acted with a genuine script was when he still had a huge crush on He Tian and joined the school musical as village idiot #7 in middle school.
To be honest he was little scared when he arrived on set, no matter how small or big the production was, it was still a movie set nothing close to the sets for their music videos. Like he didn’t want to be the actor who gets 50 NG’s of his first day, he didn’t want to be the talentless hack who “bought” his way into the movie.
Yet no matter how hard Mo Guan Shan prayed, the first day on set was basically a disaster and honestly it started out so well. Mo Guan Shan made sure he was one of the first to arrive. He was a rookie actor so he couldn’t afford to make any mistakes. He might have “the support” from the investor but that doesn’t mean he would have any standing on set.
The rest of the cast were extremely nice especially the senior actors of the groups. Senior Wang was a staple in any court drama usually playing the emperor, like there hasn’t been a hit drama in the past 20 years where he wasn’t involved in. He plays the 2nd male lead of the movie, the older man who is part of main cast and the moral compass of the movie.
Mo Guan Shan couldn’t help but ask him “Senior Wang, I’m sorry if this is too forward but why did you join the cast, someone with your standing should not be in a project with such a low budget”. Senior Wang had a small smile and told him “ I owed the director some favors back in the day and they couldn’t find anyone during casting so here I am”
Mo Guan Shan learned that this was the director’s first time directing a movie that he actually usually filmed for network televisions. With every little fact he learned on the first day he started losing hope on the movie.
The female lead was played not so well known female idol. Mo Guan Shan was quite familiar with her, their groups promoted a lot at the same time so they really got to know each other in waiting rooms at music shows.
The biggest problem was the original actor who was still signed to the movie and played the main character who had the biggest case of celebrity disease Mo Guan Shan had seen since he started working in the industry it was genuinely shocking.
The guy was barely a B-lister , he had some from fame acting like the second male lead in a couple of high school drama’s. He would be scared to even breathe in the same room as He Tian but here he is screaming at the production assistant like he is some crazy mother in law from a 3rd rate drama.
He screamed until he was red in the face before Mo Guan Shan could even intervene he was called to the make-up department.
From then on the mood of set changed drastically. It was clear that as long as that guy was on set there would be no real cast bonding set so the days he wasn’t present felt like actual heaven.
And if he made B-lister scared of his life during one of the first night shoots nobody needs to know that. What can they really do ? Fire him ? His agency is the one paying everyone’s salary and Mo Guan Shan was never the type to throw around his name but for that guy … He would.
Mo Guan Shan was able to learn a lot from the older cast members, they were all very familiar faces from the days he used to watch family drama’s with his mom when he was younger.
They tended to play characters for at least 100 episodes or even years so they had a deep interest in their character’s background. They shared that knowledge with him every day on set.
Advised him on the emotions he should portrayed, his facial expression and much more. They taught him so much more than any of those acting classes his company put him through.
It was so different from watching He Tian act, just completely different. Mo Guan Shan could himself change with every suggestions he got from his seniors. They praised him for his natural acting style.
“Junior Mo, you should put the emphasis on the last word on this line” “Junior Mo, you did a great job on in this scene,” “Our little Mo, is improving day by day”
He was falling in love with acting, he felt he more connected to himself. It actually scared him a bit in the way he actually hungered for more. It was different from when he performed on stage or when he was writing in the studio.
This new and exciting passion, that he lost from the way his music ended being controlled. He finally understood why He Tian was so invested in his characters. He only played “Ye Shao” for 2 weeks but he already had such a deep love for his character.
“Ye Shao” almost felt real to him. He was truly beautiful to Mo Guan Shan. His story truly touched him. Orphaned at a young age and trying to survive on his own. Society doesn’t tend to look kindly to children with no parents especially if they are poor.
After getting kicked out of multiple orphanages Ye Shao started living on the streets and started doing grunt work for a local gangster. Before he get promoted the world started to end and monster attacked and that’s how he ends up in the main group trying to get to one of the safe military bases.
Ye Shao has a terrible sense of humor and loves to bully the younger members of the main group. He is seen as annoyance, someone who constantly tries to be in a position of power. At best is someone the audience gets to hate on and comic relief when he utterly fails at anything of importance. But at the end of day he just wants to be seen, he wants to be needed … he wants to be loved.
Ye Shao for all his faults died saving one of the older members of the group, an elderly lady who wanted to reach the base and make sure grandson wouldn’t be alone.
He couldn’t bear it for a child to go through the same thing he had, and used all his power for to try and stop the monster from reaching the groups.
From changing the routes to being almost mauled to death; he called out to his parents one more time
“Mom and dad, sorry that it took so long and sorry that I came too soon”
Ye Shao’s death is the scene that completely shifts the tone of the movie for most of the second act of the movie.
There wasn’t a dry eye on set when Mo Guan Shan filmed his last scene. His WeChat got a bunch of new contacts. He even made some friends with seniors he deeply respects.
He was able to wrap up all of his scene in just a little over a month and can go back before He Tian even knows what happened.
He just doesn’t know how to bring up the subject, it was weird he felt like he was somehow intruding into He Tian’s space. Mo Guan Shan knows it is all his head but the thought of breaching the subject has him spiraling.
After months of torturing himself he asked the director a big favor. A private showing for his friends and family but tonight it will be his lover, his everything, the person he plans the spend the rest of his life with.
Mo Guan Shan was shaking with nerves when he guided an unknowing He Tian to his seat.
“Little Mo, what’s with the nerves, are you proposing” He Tian asked jokingly it was rare that Mo Guan Shan wanted to have a date outside and not their usual home dates.
“He Tian, for the love of god please shut the fuck up”
“Noted”
He Tian looked around the empty and couldn’t help but open his month “Oh baby, did you rent out the whole theater for us, that so romantic” he teased looking at his lover. Mo Guan Shan was rarely this nervous, so he couldn’t help but wonder what had gotten into his head
“I didn’t know DogBite was having a documentary – is this what you have been hiding from me. Did you accidentally expose our relationship you know I don’t care for that” He Tian said with a deep laugh.
“No, please shut up and look at the screen” Mo Guan Shan looking straight at the screen holding He Tian’s hand like it was the only thing keeping him grounded. He was so nervous he could have sworn that his heart would somehow stop.
He Tian looked at their intertwined hands for a second before redirected his gaze to the screen. Did he feel like the world was stopping when he saw his little mo’s name in the opening credits.
The only He Tian felt afterwards was absolute awe when he saw Mo Guan Shan on screen. He was mesmerizing, a beautiful to the point that He Tian felt like he would lose mind.
Just exquisite from his deep voice to his tear-filled amber eyes, he couldn’t stop looking at him scared to miss any of his micro expression or any breathe he took.
He Tian was a classically trained actor from Chinese opera plays to Hollywood blockbusters. He has done it all, he has seen it all so how did he miss that his most precious person was a naturally talented actor.
Seeing Ye Shao struggling with his last breath, He Tian couldn’t help but let the tears fall. He couldn’t but tighten their hands. He knows it is all fake and pretend but the idea of seeing someone with Mo Guan Shan’s face pass away is still way too hard on him.
By the time credits rolled He Tian had only thing to say
“Mo Guan Shan, you are just absolutely intoxicating, you are an amazing actor”

I think it is clear to everyone that MGS is involved with the CEO of the HE corporations He Cheng whether the relationship it is truly romantic or financial is something that we will have to wait on but as said in the article it is clear that money was involved that HC bought a lot of resources for MGS !
