“You’ve never taken Dick on a date?”
Jason had just walked out of the bedroom putting on the suit he hadn’t worn for a long time in order to attend the meeting. Tim, who was sitting on the sofa in the living room, asked this question, causing Jason to frown subconsciously, “What are you talking about?”
“Dating,” Tim emphasized again, shifting his gaze that was originally glued to the tablet to Jason who was adjusting his cuffs. “You know, just what ordinary couples do, go for a walk together, eat and watch movies together or something.”
“I know what dating is,” Jason said as he crossed his arms. “I mean, what do you mean I never took Dick on a date? It’s not like we haven’t done what you just mentioned, I even went to an amusement park and an aquarium with him.”
“But those were for missions?” Tim raised an eyebrow, and dismissed what Jason said. “I’m talking about a formal date.” He raised his hands and made a gesture of quotation marks. “As far as I know, you and Dick haven’t dated like normal people once. Even if you went to popular date spots, those were always for undercover investigations. As a couple, things have indeed gone much smoother for you two, but I don’t think those were dates.”
Jason wanted to retort, but for a moment he didn’t know what to say. After what Tim said, and thinking about it carefully, it’s true that he and Dick never had a formal date. Being a vigilante is not an easy job. Plus, Dick has to go to the police station on duty during the day, and he himself has a large gang to manage. So they don’t have extra time to date, if they get busy, they don’t even have time to spend time together. When they finally have some free time, they preferred to spend time in the safe house they own together because they’re always running around outside.
He hated to say it, but maybe Tim was right.
As if reading his thoughts, Tim’s teasing voice reached his ears.
“Am I right?”
“When did you become so concerned about our relationship?” Looking at the teasing smile on Tim’s face, Jason rolled his eyes, resisting the urge to punch the other person, “Besides, Goldie doesn’t complain about anything, this is fine for us, thank you very much.”
“Of course Dick wouldn’t say anything.” Tim shrugged and turned his attention back to the tablet in his hand. “It’s not like you don’t know his character of self-sacrifice for others. Just because he hasn’t complained doesn’t mean he hasn’t thought about it.”
Jason opened his mouth and wanted to say something more, but before he could say a word, an exclamation interrupted his thoughts. He and Tim looked at the source of the sound at the same time, and the owner of the voice was standing in front of the kitchen door staring at him in surprise.
Jason raised an eyebrow and spread his arms to show Dick what he was wearing.
“Is it weird?”
“No, not at all!” A smile spread across Dick’s face, he quickly came to Jason and stretched out his hands and wanted to hug, but as he approached, he stopped and put his hands behind his back restrainedly. “It suits you well.”
Seeing Dick standing on tiptoes to avoid messing up his suit made Jason laugh.
“C’mere babe,” he said as he pulled Dick into his arms, the other also hugged him tightly because of his initiative, and even rubbed in his chest.
“You should wear more suits,” Dick said in his arms. “You look really handsome in that, Jay.”
“You know I don’t like it very much, it’s too restrictive.” He put his arm around Dick’s waist and gently swayed him from side to side, “But since you like it so much, I think I can arrange that.” He whispered into Dick’s ear, making him chuckle. Then they found each other’s lips and exchanged a long, sweet kiss.
“Ahem, I’m still here, restrain yourself, lovebirds.”
Jason could feel the corners of his lover’s lips curling up, and couldn’t help but laugh again at Tim’s words and ended the kiss. Dick turned his head and leaned on his shoulder and looked at the person on the sofa.
“You should get used to it, Timmy.”
“Uh, no, thank you.” Tim raised the mug of coffee on the table as a salute.
Dick chuckled and straightened up from Jason’s arms.
“I seem to have held you back for too long,” he said as he straightened Jason’s suit, which was a little wrinkled due to the hug. After he smoothed out all the wrinkles, he looked up at Jason with a satisfied smile, and then kissed the corner of his mouth. “Hope your meeting goes well today, little wing.”
“Also hope you can survive the destruction from the baby birds.”
He kissed Dick’s cheek gently and walked towards the door. On the way, he could vaguely hear the conversation between Dick and Tim.
“What were you talking about?”
“We were talking about dating. Do you really not mind that Jason never took you on a date?”
Jason closed the door and left before he could hear Dick’s answer.
He wasn’t ready to hear the answer.

Sighing, when he heard many gasps, he slowly raised his gaze and looked at the people sitting in front of the conference table. Their eyes were glued to the information on the table, and no one dared to look at him at all.
Shit. He cared too much about what Tim said before he’d left, and he was thinking about whether or not to arrange a date with Dick, but he didn’t know what to do because he didn’t have much experience. As a result, he didn’t listen to a word of the reports from his subordinates.
“Um…is there any problem, sir?”
He looked at the only person standing in the room. Judging from the other’s slightly trembling voice and the wrinkled paper in his hand, he was probably frightened by Jason’s sigh. He raised his hand and rubbed his temples and said, “No, no problem.”
“Should I continue…?”
Jason looked up and down at the other person. The other seemed to be about the same age as him, “What’s your name?”
The other person looked at the others with uncertainty, and then slowly spoke: “My name is Patrick, sir.”
“Do you have a girlfriend?”
Patrick was stunned by his question. Until the person next to him nudged him with his elbow and he came back to his senses, “I, ahem, actually I have a boyfriend…”
“What do you do on dates?”
“Uh…” Patrick's expression looked a little awkward, but he still rubbed the back of his neck and said, “Just the usual things that couples do? Like shopping, eating, et cetera…” Perhaps because Jason didn’t respond at all, he spoke quieter, adding, “We loved the carnival at Gotham Pier.”
“Carnival,” Jason murmured.
He had heard of this carnival that was held for nearly half a month every quarter, Dick seemed to have mentioned it to him before, “What’s the time of that carnival?”
“I think the event starts next week.”
Jason realized that Dick had a day off next week, and he hadn't heard that Dick had anything else to do so far. He could make good arrangements for that day. Jason raised the corners of his mouth under the mask, then waved his hand, “Continue your report.”
When Patrick continued to report the information in his hand, Jason’s mind was already racing with how to arrange a perfect date.

Damn it! He knew his plan wouldn’t go so smoothly!
After Jason knocked out a criminal with the butt of his gun, he shot twice at someone who wanted to attack Nightwing (Of course, he was using rubber bullets). And after Nightwing defeated the two criminals, he turned his head and blew a kiss to him, then immediately entered the next battle.
Today was supposed to be a date with Dick. After he told his lover the plan, Dick had been looking forward to it. Although Jason himself hadn’t shown it, he had actually been looking forward to it silently in his heart.
The start of the day wasn’t that bad. In the morning, he prepared a sumptuous brunch to enjoy with Dick. The food was definitely to Dick’s liking, as he’d said “I love you” to him several times during the meal. In the afternoon they went to the market held in Robinson Park together. Dick took him to visit many vendors. There were sellers of second-hand items, handmade desserts, and even people selling homemade Gotham vigilante-themed keychains. The moment he saw those little things, Dick’s eyes lit up and he bought one of each without hesitation, planning to give them to everyone. Dick kept Red Hood’s keychain for himself and gave Jason Nightwing’s.
Everything was fine until they were about to go to the carnival at Gotham Pier when the two of them received an emergency notice.
“These lunatics chose today to break out!” Jason complained as he punched the person who was coming towards him with a little more force than usual.
“Stop complaining Hood, the sooner we resolve it the sooner you can go back on a date with N.”
Tim’s joking voice came over the communication, making him roll his eyes. “Shut up.”
By the time they had solved all the escaped criminals and watched them being sent back to Arkham one by one and completed the aftermath, it was already nine o’clock. And after a few hours of rest, it was time for night patrol.
Jason sat on the eaves of the top floor of an apartment building. He put aside his helmet, looking at the carnival venue not far away, which has been temporarily closed due to the breakout incident, there was no light, and only the shadow of some facilities could be vaguely seen. He sighed, then he heard a light landing sound, and soon there was another person beside him.
“Hey, little wing. Can you take this for me?”
He turned around and saw Dick holding two ice creams in his hand, and handed one of them to him. He reached out and took it.
“Where did you get these? There should be no vendors left today.”
Dick didn’t answer him immediately. Instead, he sat down next to him, took off the mask, and pointed towards the carnival venue.
Jason raised an eyebrow and looked at Dick, who then smiled and said, “I left the money at the counter, let’s eat.”
They just looked at the dimmer-than-usual scenery and ate ice cream quietly. It wasn’t until they all finished eating the ice cream in their hands that Jason said, “I’m sorry that today’s date was ruined.”
“Hey, no one could have predicted today’s breakout.” Dick turned his head and leaned on his shoulder as he spoke. “So you don’t have to feel sorry.”
“I know, I just…” Jason paused and sighed. “I’ve never taken you on a date like this. You’ve been looking forward to it for so long, but it had to end like this…”
He felt Dick sit up straighter, caressing his cheek and turning his head. Meeting the other’s beautiful sea blue eyes, Jason didn’t see any disappointment there, but a warm smile.
“Jay, I don’t need any romantic date schedule, I’m happy just staying with you like this.”
“But I still want to have a good date with you,” Jason said almost stubbornly, causing Dick to laugh, putting his arms around his waist and leaning towards him.
“We can arrange the next one. But now I don’t want to do anything but stay with you like this.” Dick smiled at him. “Can we do that?”
Seeing the smile on Dick’s face, the annoyance in Jason’s heart seemed to dissipate a little, making him also smile slightly.
“We can do that.”
With that, they exchanged a sweet kiss.
“I love you, Little Wing.”
“Love you too, Dickiebird.”
