Ermm cheesy asf first chapter !! I rlly don't like this chapter but nothing else seemed like a good 1st chapter.
It had been 6 days since Ren and Akexhi started dating.
One day in Leblanc, Ren had popped the question.
"Akechi, will you go out with me ?" Akechi was surprised, silent for a while, but in the end said yes. Since then, they've continued to hang out the same as before. Going to Penguin Sniper, Cafes, and occasionally Leblanc. But then that made Ren wonder: why haven't they done anything yet ? Normally people would hold hands at this stage, maybe exhange a few words of affection. Atleast, that's what Ren thought. He had never been in a relationship before. But still, why haven't they made any progress ? Ren was starting to think him confessing and Akechi saying yes was all a dream.
Now, Ren was at Akechi's. He had invited him via text. It was nothing out of the ordinary though, contrary to Ren's hopes.
They had just finished watching a movie, and Akechi was typing something up on his laptop whilst Ren was laying on his couch, contemplating if he was actually in a relationship with Akechi or not. Unbeknownst to him, of course.
"I apologize for working while we are together." Akechi spoke up first. "It was something urgent and I'm sure I can get it done quickly, so I promise we can do what you want afterwards." Ren didn't respond. Akechi assumed he was angry with him and giving him the silent treatment, so he abided his wishes and stayed quiet.
Ren abrudptly threw only his upper body up, so he was in a mirrored L pose. Akechi turned around, startled.
"I-is something wr-"
"Akechi." Ren was still looking at a wall.
",,,Yes ?"
"I love you." Akechi went silent. Their was a pause for what felt like eternity, until Akechi muttered a small "M-Mm,,,." He turned around and started to type once again. The sound of the keys clacking was deafening. But unlike before. His speed was unmatched. He was typing as if someone had a gun to his head and said to get 200wpm or else he would kill him.
Ren looked in Akechi's direction.
"I love you." Akechi started to type faster. "I love you. I love you." Ren repeated those 3 words over and over with a pause after "you", as if he was waiting for a response. Rem continued his barrage of words until Akechi had had enough.
"T-That's enough ! Why do you keep repeating ,,,that ! What are you trying to get out of this ??" Akechi turned his head around, embarrassed and confused. Only to see Ren looming over him.
Akechi instinctively jumped out of his chair, almost knocking his laptop off the table in a panic.
"Why don't you say it back ?"
"What ?"
"I don't get it. I swear that night happened. So why are we still like this ? Not once have you even mentioned it." Ren's eyes were staring straight through Akechi. Akechi hated that gaze, but he couldn't look away.
"What you said in Leblanc, did you mean it ? Did you really mean it when you said you wanted to be with me ? Or,,, did you just say it in the spur of the moment ? To go with the flow ?"
Akechi wanted to scream. Scream that he was wrong. Scream that he really did mean it. But the words just wouldn't come out.
"It's okay. I'm not that weak y'know ?" Ren gave a smile that didn't reach his eyes. "Let's just call it off. Well, we never were together in the first place." He let out halfhearted laugh. "Ah, it's already so dark out. I guess I should get going huh ?" Ren had started to grab his things, walking towards the front door before being stopped by a pull on his wrist. He turned around to see Akechi, with an emotion he couldn't decipher on his face. Akechi had so much on his mind, so much he wanted to say, but their was one thing he was sure he had to say first.
",,,I love you too."
