"Okay Yugyeom, your turn. Truth or Dare?" Youngjae said while smirking. Oh he is in trouble, he thought.
It was a sunny day when they were having a lunch break. Their usual place to eat was under a tree near the basketball court. They had been claiming that spot since they started high school, which was a couple of months ago. Yet Yugyeom doesn't remember who came up with the idea of playing Truth or Dare in the first place. It must be Bambam, he thought. All the ideas that led them into the most exciting things in their life or brought them trouble always started with Bambam's idea. But mostly trouble. Yugyeom himself never really thinks twice before agreeing to whatever Bambam suggested, which mostly often bites him back in the ass. What can he say, he doesn't like to back down from a challenge.
Bambam and Yugyeom have been best friends since forever, then they met Youngjae in junior high school, so he already got used to their antiques. They had never seen one without each other. Usually, Youngjae was the sane one but he thinks not this time. Where were we again? Right Truth or Dare.
"Umm, truth." Yugyeom said hesitantly. He knew something wasn't right when Youngjae and Bambam sent each other looks that he knew very well.
"Ah come on bro, I never thought you were a coward!" taunted Bambam.
"You didn't say anything when Youngae picked the truth!"
"Well, because it's Youngjae" Bambam said while laughing.
"Hey! What do you mean by that? Respect your elder." Youngjae tried to hit Bambam's arm.
"You know you're our favorite hyung right?" Bambam smiled sweetly with puppy (snake) eyes.
"Forget it, it's Yugyeom's turn now anyway."
Bambam and Youngjae then turned their attention back to Yugyeom.
"Ughh, okay okay, you both are annoying sometimes, I pick dare." Yugyeom gave up, he knew there would be no end to this and he could never say no to his best friend anyway.
"YES!" shouted Bambam.
Youngjae then acts to think really hard when inside his brain he already came up with thousand ideas for dares he would give to Yugyeom. He practically already knows because he already plotted something with Bambam before. The whole idea of Truth of Dare is his idea in the first place.
"I dare you to shout out your crush, let me finish it, your crush's full name in the middle of that court and confess your undying love to him."
Yugyeom was panicking, okay not because he forgot to turn off his stove this morning, or forgot his wallet or something. His so-called best friend was sure like to mess around with him, they knew the reason why he was choosing this place under the tree near the basketball course, his best friend so knew about this. His crush was always there on the court. Okay, he wasn't a basketball player, but his friends Jackson and Mark were, and his crush, the angel that he was, always sitting on the side reading a book looking all pretty, everyday single day.
Yugyeom cannot forget the first time he saw the senior, his name is Park Jinyoung. It was the day of the orientation, the first day of school and he was already late. It was a chaotic morning. He always rode a bike to school, but that day was surely not his lucky day.
Here's what happened, he saw an old lady struggling with carrying a garbage bag to the front of her house, so Yugyeom, being a good boy that he is, helped her and turned out the garbage not only was heavy but full of old paints and you could guess what happened next. Yep, one of the paints was opened and dropped on his clothes. The lady of course felt bad but he told her that he was already so late to school so with the promise of her baked cookies Yugyeom didn't think twice and just fled with the last bunch of garbage and quickly rode his bike to school. Dirty uniforms be damned.
When he got to the school gate he was stopped by a senior, I think his name was Jaebeom or something, he was so scary looking, his eyes almost like a cat, with long hair tied in a half bun and two ear piercing in one ear, Yugyeom almost intimidated by the senior, if it wasn't the fact that he is taller than him Yugyeom would already be pissed in the spot.
Then like a knight in shining armor, suddenly he heard someone say, "Hyung, stop scaring the kid."
He heard mutters like "I only ask him where he wants to go." Yugyeom thinks he saw the senior pouted while he was walking away.
But then his jaw was literally dropped like he was in awe until he realized that his savior, who looks like a literal angel, was talking to him.
"What happened to your uniform?" The Angel asked.
"Umm.. I'm so sorry hyung, I was helping an old lady carrying her garbage and yeah one of her bags filled with cans of paint and they dropped on me so.."
He hoped his stuttered explanation could be clear enough. Never in his life has he felt so embarrassed since the man in front of him is looking like a prince and his uniform has no crease at all, literally perfect looking, and Yugyeom looks like, well, a trash.
"Wait here." The Angel said, making him confused. Turns out, The Angel went to pick up his jacket and told him to wear it. He heard the scary looking senior say something to The Angel but he couldn't hear anything since his focus was only on the jacket in his hand and suddenly he felt blush creeping on his cheeks, he was so stunned, when he was about to say something, the angel and his friend already went away.
Since that fateful first meeting he instantly fell in love with the senior. After that day he finally learned that his angel's name was Park Jinyoung and he was a senior, and until now he couldn't forget the smell of the jacket that he gave(lent) to him. He had already tried to give back the jacket a couple of times but he was always chickened out when he got to the front of Jinyoung's class. He practically thought that The Angel must already have forgotten that his jacket was still with him.
"Earth to Yugyeom!" Youngjae's scream brought him back to reality.
"God stop shouting in front of my face!"
"Sorry but you just suddenly went still and we thought you were possessed or your brain was suddenly shut off or something." Youngjae said while scratching his own head.
"Yeah we literally called your name for a while, I almost thought you turned into a statue. Just stop with the overthinking and do the dare. The lunch break is almost over!" Bambam almost lost his patience.
"Yeah, what's the worst thing that could happen?" Youngjae added while smiling innocently.
This evil , he thought. Everyone who called Youngjae a sunshine, never really saw the Youngjae in front of him now.
"Okay, okay, but you both owe me big times! I demand an Ice Choco for a week! Especially if all of this turns bad." He shuddered.
"Scouts honor" They raised their right hands in a mirrored way. They both really are a devil.
Yugyeom then got up from the bench where they were sitting on and started to walked to the basketball court. He already felt his hand clamming. While walking he literally thought about a hundred scenarios when all of this turned bad and he was thinking about backing down or running away and just accepted the punishment or something but then he heard his angel laughing at something and it made him want to do stupid things. Like what he was about to do right now.
He looked back at his friend again and they were giving him a thumbs up and ready to record him with their phones. Best friends his ass , he thought.
With a courage that really felt non-existent right now but he think fuck it and took a deep breath.
"PARK JINYOUNG-HYUNG, FROM THE FIRST TIME I SAW YOU ON THE SCHOOL GATE AND YOU WERE REALLY NICE TO ME AND GAVE ME YOUR JACKET WHICH WAS STILL IN MY HOME RIGHT NOW AND I'VE BEEN MEANING TO GIVE IT BACK TO YOU BUT I NEVER GOT THE CHANCE UGH THAT WASN'T MY POINT RIGHT NOW, OKAY, I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT I REALLY LIKE YOU AND I THINK YOU'RE REALLY PRETTY! UM… WILL YOU GO OUT WITH ME?"
God his throat felt so sore after all that screaming and his face felt so hot. He probably looked like a tomato right now. He didn't dare to look at Jinyoung right now. All the activity around him suddenly stopped and people stared at him which also looked as shocked as him. He really wished the ground would swallow him right now.
Suddenly he heard clapping and a loud cackling from Jackson, one of Jinyoung's friends. He walked to him and patted his shoulder hard then said "You got balls kid!" And laugh even harder. After that he walked to Mark something like "Finally it's happening, it's about time really! Can't wait to tell Jaebeom about this!"
It's like everyone also held anticipation for what Park Jinyoung would do. He starts to feel the sweat dripping all over his body. Jinyoung finally decided to end his torment by walking to him, "Do you have to scream like that?"
"Huh?" He doesn't expect his response gonna be like this, hell he doesn't expect him to react at all. This must be a dream.
"I said, do you have to scream like that? You could ask me in person, you know."
"Well, to tell you the truth, I was playing Truth or Dare with my friend, see those two demons right there? Yeah they dared me to confess to you so.. oh no I shouldn't be saying this to you isn't it? I'm so sorry for bothering you hyung, I- I'll go." He really needs to learn how to shut his mouth up sometimes, he swears Bambam and Youngjae bring out the worst in him.
"Do you always talk this much?" Laughed Jinyoung. Yugyeom wants to thank whoever deity up there for being lucky enough to see Park Jinyoung laugh this close to him. He just stood there with his hands folded in front of his chest looking amused. He could feel his cheek starting to blush.
"Uhh..I'm kinda nervous. I just confessed my big ass crush to you so.."
"Are you serious? You're not messing up with me?"
"Yes of course! I'm 100% serious!"
Jinyoung looks like he was thinking really hard about it, and that made Yugyeom really nervous.
"Give me your number."
"What?" He must have sounded like an idiot. His crush just asked for his number and he just gaps like a fish.
"Your number Gyeomie."
Finally he snap right back to reality and his hand automatically punched his number to Jinyoung's phone (maybe his hand tremors a little and he's glad if Jinyoung noticed but not saying anything)
He didn't realize he held his breath when the air suddenly rushed out from his mouth. To say he's shocked is an understatement because he felt like his heart just did a somersault and fireworks just went boom boom in his heart.
"Okay then, see you later, Gyeomie." Jinyoung said while he walked away.
Yugyeom stood there completely stunned, his mouth literally opened. People around him started to clap and congratulate him, which is truly what he felt right now, like he just won a big prize. Also what was that, did Jinyoung just called him Gyeomie? Twice? He knew his name? Really his brain couldn't comprehend what just happened. He felt like screaming like a teenage girl right now.
"Way to go Yugyeom! I'm so happy for you!" Cheered Youngjae while lightly punching his shoulder.
"See, everything turned out great right? You should trust your bro's instinct!" They then managed to do their secret handshake.
"Guys, did that just happen? I'm not dreaming am I? Youngjae hyung please pinch me."
Because Youngjae is a devil so he did what Yugyeom asked.
"OW!"
"What? You asked."
"Not that hard! You lucky I'm happy right now so I'm gonna let it slide." He truly felt really happy and bubbly inside, it felt like all of his wishes came true. Yes his legs felt like it's gonna give up soon, yes he sweats like crazy, but also yes to his crush just accept his (cringe worthy) confession. He could never wish for anything better.

It was already late when Yugyeom finally got home from his dance practice at school. His dance instructor, a senior named Soonyoung never took a practice lightly, especially when he was paired with Hoseok, they were a pair to be feared of. He sometimes thinks their energy is always on 100% bar and never runs out, it always amazes him.
Now he is tired and really just wants to dip himself in his bed and just fall asleep, not even wanting to take a shower. But suddenly he heard a ping from his phone.

So what's your plan?
Gyeom:
Jinyoung-hyung?
Unknown number:
The one and only.
He read the notification bar and doesn't dare to read the message yet. Shit he almost forgot about his confession. Damn what should he do, he hasn't got a plan. He didn't even think that Jinyoung was gonna text him this soon. This whole thing happened because of his best friends so he texted them in their group chat.
Gyeom:
MAYDAY MAYDAY
GUYS HELP
WHERE SHOULD I TAKE JINYOUNG TO?
YoungJaenius:
Amusement park? It's always a safe bet and a common place for a first date.

So I might have an insight that your majesty doesn't like to do much tiring activity.

Trying to ignore their group chat, he finally texted back Jinyoung.
Gyeom:
Uhmm hyung sorry for the late reply
How about we go to the new cafe hyung?
That new cafe near the flower shop!
I heard their coffee is good, how is it?
After he sends the message he waits nervously. He didn't think twice of where his best friend got the information. He just chanted 'please say yes' over and over again in his head.
Angel hyung:
Okay
When?
Gyeom:
See you tomorrow at 11 am hyung!
Can't wait to see you :)
His heart did a little flip but he finally could breathe. He finally got a chance to have a date with his crush! He really can't wait for their date and just hopes nothing goes wrong tomorrow.

Everything went wrong.
He doesn't know if he had to laugh or cry right now.
He never really intended to be late though it seems fate always works like that. He already had a plan to arrive earlier to buy a flower first from the flower shop. But he missed a bus stop so he had to wait for another minute and he was told that the bus he had to get next was having a problem that made them late. So that's the story of how he found Jinyoung standing in front of the cafe, looking fresh like out of korean drama that he loves to watch every night. Like a gentleman that he is, he waits for him. He saw many people stare at him. He isn't surprised though, I mean he really looks like an actor, it's unbelievable.
"You need to stop showing up late every time we meet Yugyeom-ah." Jinyoung said holding back his laugh, amusement sparks within him, he looks at the boy while he is scrambling in front of him, panting, just like he was running a marathon. He felt bad and was about to say sorry again but then Jinyoung just brushed him off and made a gesture to follow him to the entrance of the cafe. He's a literal angel, Yugyeom thinks.
Everything went smooth from there, they talked, they joked, asked about each other's life, he learned so much about his crush and apparently they already planned for a second date in a week so it counts as a win for Yugyeom.
— A week later
Angel hyung:
So are you planning to tell me where we are going tomorrow?
Gyeom:
it's a surprise hyung!
Angel hyung:
okay
but i still need to know where we're going
Gyeom:
just trust me
meet me at the park near the bus station at 11 a.m okay hyung!
and maybe bring your camera?
Angel hyung:
now you really make hyung curious
but
are you gonna be late again?
Gyeom:
hyung it's just one time thing! :(
Angel hyung:
just kidding yugyeom-ah
now sleep!

He really wants to look really good for his date today. So he asked Bambam to pick his clothes and practically being his best friend slash stylist. Maybe he is also very nervous and needs his best friend for moral support.
"Yugyeom I can see you thinking hard right now, don't bite your lips please you're gonna ruin my lip tint work!"
"Bam it's my first official date, the last date was so short since it was only a lunch date." He was whining, he knew but he couldn't help it. He was excited but also afraid he's gonna make a fool of himself.
"Did I already told you that he is really pretty Bam?’
Bambam only makes a face, "Yeah, yeah you've already told me that about hmmm..-" he paused to count with his hands sarcastically, "—thousand times already!"
"Don't forget to buy me lunch when you both are finally dating!" Screamed Youngjae from Bambam's phone speaker.
"You'll be the first to know hyung! I'll buy you your favorite ramen okay. Plus I could ask him about that scary senior that you have a crush on."
"Jaebeom-hyung?", snickers Bambam.
"Yeah, I don't get you sometimes, like why are you always attracted to scary looking guys. Remember Changkyun?"
"Well it was a long time ago! And he was a softie when you actually knew him okay, maybe Jaebeom-hyung was the same, or even better!"
Yugyeom and Bambam just look into each other's eyes and laugh hard.
"Yah yah, just wait and see you brat. Anyway good luck Yugyeom, I love you." Youngjae said from the other side.
"I love you too hyung."
He already felt less anxious, knowing Bambam and Youngjae fully supported him and cheered him up. After Bambam put his finishing touch and looked at him from top of his head to the bottom of his shoes, finally satisfied and letting him go.
He doesn’t want to be late again so this time he went to the park 15 minutes earlier.
He finally saw him, his crush walked to him so handsomely. He wore a fluffy green jacket with jeans that should be a sin, it captured his peachy butt perfectly, gosh he needed to stop thinking about it or he would embarrass himself again.
“Hey Yugyeom-ah, I’m not late aren’t I?” He asked.
Yugyeom still stands with mouth ajar because looking at him close now Jinyoung looks hundreds times more beautiful. Like he got his light blush for probably walking fast to their destined meeting point and smiled bashfully at Yugyeom. He probably had to pinch himself because how could this man be so real?
“Is there something on my face Yugyeom-ah?”
“You’re just so beautiful hyung”, hand slapped at his mouth, he wasn’t meant to say it out loud, he felt heat rising to his cheeks.
Is he dreaming or Jinyoung was blushing too? “Thank you Yugyeom, so where are we going today?”
Yugyeom just showed two tickets in front of Jinyoung's face, “Let’s go to the Aquarium hyung!”, he said excitedly.
Jinyoung just chuckled a little seeing how the boy in front of him could be acting so manly yet child-like too.
“Okay, let’s go shall we?”
To say that their Aquarium date was a success would be an understatement. There’s one point when they were walking under the tunnel when you can see the Aquarium from below, Jinyoung excitedly grabbing Yugyeom’s hand to show him a manta ray that was passing above them. Yugyeom couldn’t focus on the manta ray though, because looking at Jinyoung’s sparkly eyes, under the low blue light from the water when he was staring at the fishes in awe, just made Yugyeom realize that he really likes Jinyoung so much. They both never take their hands away from each other after that. If anyone could see them then they probably thought that they were just a couple on a date, and he wouldn’t mind having that thought.
He never misses a chance to take a picture of Jinyoung whenever he can though, there would be hundreds of candid pictures of Jinyoung on his phone now. Also there’s a couple of pictures that were taken with both of them in front of the shark statue, Jinyoung wearing a jellyfish headpiece that Yugyeom bought in one of the stores, and he laughed because he thought Jinyoung looks ridiculous (but still handsome for him). He lost count at how much he thinks of Jinyoung looking so cute that day.
After the Aquarium date, they went to many dates after that, from an Art Museum, to a picnic at the park. They also got closer in school, having spent so much time together, studying together or having lunch too. Their friend groups, Bambam and Youngjae, also Jackson, Mark, and Jaebeom also blended well, always teasing them and making them both a blushing mess.
One day, Bambam, Youngjae, and him were just hanging out at Bambam’s place, it wasn’t rare that they hung out at his house because his parents often travel back to his home country.
“Hyung, stop hogging the couch!” Bambam jumped to the couch on top of Youngjae’s body and he just screamed in pain”
“Ya Bambam Ya! You’re too heavy!” Youngjae just shoved him from the couch. “It’s hyung privilege to sit on the couch.” He claimed.
“Seriously this hyung has no manners!” Yugyeom was already tired hearing them both bickering and just lost in his own thoughts.
Bambam, who had noticed that their maknae was having some dilemma, signaled Youngjae to be serious for a second.
“So when will both of you stop being a coward and just, I don’t know, make it official?” Bambam started the discussion.
“I’m waiting for Jaebeom hyung to be honest, he just gave me mixed signals all these weeks, I don’t know what to think of him!”
“Bruh you’re so dense sometimes, but we’re gonna back at you later, Yugyeom, when are you gonna confess your undying love for Jinyoung hyung?” Bambam just snickered like it was the easiest thing in the world.
“How could you say it so lightly? I don’t know how to do it.” He sounded so tired already.
“Don’t make us forced you to play truth or dare again Yugyeomie.” Youngjae giggled.
“No please, we don’t need to do that again, I still haven't recovered from the embarrassment, and so many people still talked to me about that.”
Youngjae and Bambam just laugh so loud in his ears.
“But seriously Gyeomie, Jinyoung has many admirers, I am afraid if you don't confess fast, he will be snatched by other people. What's his name again, that handsome senior?” Youngjae asked Bambam.
“The Vice President? Suho-hyung? Oh he's a fine looking man indeed.” Bambam adding to the fire.
While Bambam and Youngjae keep bickering with each other, Yugyeom’s brain couldn't stop thinking about the possibility of his Jinyoung hyung being taken by Suho hyung. But they are looking good together though? They would be a power couple or something. He felt saddened by that thought. Bambam, who saw his best friend's downed expression, tried to lift the mood a little.
“Ayyy bro, we‘re just joking you know, Jinyoung-hyung is definitely only in love with you!” Bambam tries to encourage him.
“Yeah Gyeomie, don't you see how Jinyoung-hyung sees you?” Youngjae added.
He lost in his own thoughts again. He couldn’t help but think the worst. He definitely must make a plan to confess again to Jinyoung, he would not plan on being late again this time.

Every year, the school has a spring festival where there would be few events happening at the same time, from Talent Show, Food Stalls presented by students, Fashion Show, and on the last day there would be a Firework Show to end the festival week.
While Yugyeom knew Jinyoung would be busy arranging the festival, with him being the member of the student body, he knew chances of meeting with Jinyoung would be lesser this month. Besides, Yugyeom’s dance club also must prepare for their talent show. They are still texting here and there, also whenever he got some free time he would ask Jinyoung to have lunch together. While he was kinda annoyed a little, seeing Jinyoung-hyung with Suho-hyung walking around the school together, he knew they both took on the same project which was surveying the building progress of the stage for the talent show and also the food stalls.
And people talk so loud you know? Whenever they walk in front of them girls would squeal, whispering how they both look so good together, how Suho hyung looks at Jinyoung, and how pretty Jinyoung hyung’s smile when Suho hyung cracked a joke.
Yugyeom was so desperate to take on Suho’s hyung position, wishing he was the one who walked beside Jinyoung all the time. But yeah, he was gonna busied himself with his dance practice and his plan to confess.
When the festival week finally came, the trio were excited to explore together, jumping here and there to take pictures. Youngjae being a foodie that he was, dragged Bambam and Yugyeom to try every food stall there, from tangsuyuk to kimbab, also a Red Velvet cake that was made by Irene and Joy from Science class. It was really really good, Yugyeom thought.
Suddenly he saw Jinyoung was having a break beside the stage, so he decided to buy him a glass of lemonade and kimchi fried rice. He chatted a little and asked if he needed some help. But like an angel he was, of course he denied his offer and asked him just to enjoy the festival. He reminded Jinyoung to watch his performance later that day before he heard Suho-hyung called him from afar. He heard a sincere thank you (with a beautiful smile that Yugyeom missed) for the food and a promise to watch him when he performed. That short interaction already made his heart flutter, he hoped no one would see him blushing though.
His dance group was scheduled to perform on second to last, meaning that he has time to practice the dance a little. To be honest, he was kinda nervous to perform in front of the whole school, but he knew that his dance group was working hard for this performance. They will do a dance cover of some famous K-pop groups like GOT7, Seventeen, and BTS. Soonyoung and Hoseok cannot stop talking about them whenever they went into practice, so they decided to remix some of their top songs and make it into one performance. Girls will go crazy, Soonyoung said(shouted passionately) and the whole group just went with it.
10 minutes before their performance, Youngjae and Bambam came for him and that actually calms his nerves a little, he peeked through the curtains and saw so many crowds of students watching all the other performers before him. But he didn't see Jinyoung yet. Has he forgotten about his promise?
The MC finally called for their group then the whole crew got lined up into the stage.
When he got into the formation, his back was turned so he didn't see the crowd, then when the first beat drop the first dance move was to turn around so he could face the crowd, then just like a slow motion in the movie, he finally saw Jinyoung standing in front of the crowds, and their eyes just met, it felt electrifying for him and just like shot of adrenaline he felt energized again and so he danced with all of his heart.
The performance finally came to the end and just as Soonyoung said all the girls and also the whole students went crazy for them, cheers and applause felt like whole minutes just for them. They weren't expecting a massive reaction for their performance but it made them proud. Especially when he saw Jinyoung's expression when their eyes met again, he was so happy and all-smiling for him and gave him thumbs up.
Finally they got off the stage and met with friends at the side of the stage, he was being congratulated by all of his friends. Way to go Gyeomie! and You are so cool! Were heard from most of his friends. They decided to take a group picture with his dance crew, also with Youngjae and Bambam doing cool and silly poses. He was still feeling jumpy from the post show euphoria but still he wasn't seeing Jinyoung to congratulate him.
Oh he realized, he knew the reason why Jinyoung wasn't here to congratulate him. He looked at the one performing on stage and it was actually Suho-hyung singing while playing a guitar, and Jinyoung was still in the same position but this time he filmed Suho’s performance. What an encore for his life.
Damn, so this is what heartbreak felt like huh?
He felt like he could cry at any minute so he decided to escape somewhere. After he picked up all his belongings, and saw the item that he should be giving to Jinyoung still in his bag, he left, ignoring Bambam who had been calling for him.
He walked aimlessly and ended up in the basketball field. He was having a major flashback to the event that made him get close with Jinyoung. All his embarrassment from the truth or dare, to actually get Jinyoung number, and went to all of their dates. He even made him think that Jinyoung had the same feelings as him, but apparently Yugyeom didn't think of other possibilities of people who could steal a chance right in front of him. It was the best time of Yugyeom's life. Now all those moments only felt bittersweet.
He felt so dejected. He thought that he could confess to Jinyoung after his performance, he would bring him to this place and confessed for real this time, said what he felt for him there, and maybe they would end up kissing. But he knew that his expectations were too high and things wouldn't always go like his plan. He was late, again, and it was causing him heart-broken this time.
He walked to one of the benches and just sat there. He didn't know how long the time passed, but apparently there were loud cheers in afar, the last performance had probably ended. He probably should have gone home already.
Then he heard someone calling his name, “Yugyeom-ah!”, that someone sounded breathless like he just ran there. When he looked up, apparently he realized that someone was Jinyoung.
“Hyung? What are you doing here?” he asked confusedly. Not that having a sight of him automatically made his heart beat faster.
“Bambam and Youngjae told me that you left already! I haven't got a chance to congratulate you gyeom-ah”, he looked ruffled, hair a mess from all the running, but Yugyeom still adored him so much.
“Oh, yeah, I didn't feel so good, that's why I decided to go home now hyung, but you don't need to worry about me though!”, he explained but not wanting Jinyoung to worry about him more, “You should go back to the stage, there's gonna be a firework show later right?”. Jinyoung was expressionless, even Yugyeom couldn't guess what Jinyoung's thinking right now.
He decided that this was probably the last time he was gonna have a time with Jinyoung so he decided to give the item that he had been holding all this time, waiting for it to be returned to its original owner.
“Here hyung, your jacket, you probably don't remember but you gave it to me on my first day at this school. I was late and being a mess but you, like an angel, saved me from all the embarrassment and lent me your jacket. I never got a chance to give it back to you, maybe I am a coward who was always late for all of our meetings, but here I finally got a chance.”
He then went to put a jacket on Jinyoung's shoulder, didn't want to see the other getting cold from this chilly night.
“Bye hyung, please go back to the stage, Suho-hyung probably went looking for you already.” With that, Yugyeom finally turned his back and was ready to go home. His speech wasn't the best and he will have a hard time moving on but at least he got his friends to help him.
Suddenly he felt his hand being grabbed from behind and his body being spurred around so fast and he was faced with furious Jinyoung.
“Yugyeom-ah, what do you mean I should go back to Suho-hyung?”
“Well, I saw you were filming his performance, and lately you’ve been spending time with him too, aren’t you a couple now hyung?”, his voice almost broken. If this conversation went too long then he really could cry in front of Jinyoung and he really doesn’t want that to happen.
“Yugyeom-ah, do you know that I am one of the student body? Of course I have to spend most of the time preparing for the festival, it’s only a common sense that I have to stick with Suho hyung because I was his partner for the project, also when you see me filming him, I was using his phone, he was asking me before to record his performance to show it to his boyfriend who were living back in his hometown! So no I am in fact not in a relationship with him or what you would call a couple, Gyeom-ah”, his voice was softer yet desperate at the end.
“Wait, so you weren’t a couple?” Yugyeom asked the same question, dumbfoundedly.
“No Yugyeom-ah, if you haven’t realized, I fell in love with someone else.”
“With someone else?” At this point he sounded like a broken record already.
“Yeah, I kinda fell in love with this one kid that have a bad habit of being late even on the first day of high school, I fell in love with someone who shouted loudly about how he want to take me out on a date, I fell in love with someone who never giving back my jacket.”
Yugyeom was too stunned to talk, so Jinyoung walked slowly so now they are face to face, guiding Yugyeom’s head with hand in his chin, so he could look at him.. He searched for any kind of hesitation in his eyes, when he saw none, he finally captured Yugyeom lips in a sweet kiss. Yugyeom’s brain just started to process Jinyoung’s confession, and lips that taste so sweet that he felt right now, then he kissed Jinyoung back. Just like in the movie, fireworks just lit up right above them, making the moment more perfect.
“Now do you understand Yugyeom-ah?”
“Hyung! You see I already made a plan to confess to you right in this place but you preceded me hyung. I already like you from the very first start that we met in front of the school gate, I’ve never got a chance to say thanks but I’m finding a lot more about you and my embarrassment from back then was so worth it when I could finally go out with you, I fell in love more and more each date we went to, I am so glad that I wasn’t late this time, well I am still gonna make a fool out of myself in front of you hyung, but would you would let me have a chance to be your boyfriend?”
“Silly silly Yugyeom-ah, of course I want to be your boyfriend.”
Then they just kissed and kissed until the fireworks show ended.
