When little innocent Mobei-Jun was captured & tortured by Huan Hua Palace Sect, it was Shang Qinghua, who was already Anding Peak Lord, saved him.
Shang Qinghua hid the little demon prince at Anding-Peak, looked after and raised him until he would be able to survive in the demon realm himself.
They met many years later when Mobei-Jun was again wounded by Huan Hua Palace Sect. He was pissed and would kill any cultivator that blocks his way. And therefore, he killed the whole troupe led by Shang Qinghua in one blow before knowing that's Shang Qinghua was there.
Shang Qinghua was lucky to be the only survivor. He was scared and rushed forward to hug the demon's leg, begging for his life before noticed the Demon was indeed Mobei-Jun. He saved Mobei-Jun again when Mobei-Jun was then down from his wound without a word.
Instead of being a servant or spy of Mobei-Jun, Shang Qinghua became a friend/ally to Mobei-Jun that the latter never admitted. Shang Qinghua even helped Mobei-Jun to take revenge on Huan Hua Palace.
Mobei-Jun fells for Shang Qinghua but Shang Qinghua just thought Mobei-Jun was his No.1 favorite son.
Then, the friends to lovers plot happened.
Later, Shang Qinghua saved Mobei-Jun again from his Uncle Linguang-Jun in his official succession of Mobei Clan.
Mobei-Jun proposed to Shang Qinghua right after the succession ceremony. Shang Qinghua who never thought they were a thing, was all puzzled but still accepted it after he went through the memories of all the years they had together.

Shang Qinghua captured Linguang-Jun & sent him to Mobei-Jun as a gift for their engagement.
Mobei-Jun can't fall more for his Shang Qinghua.
