Work Text:

During the summer holidays, Kristoff has taken the time to rearrange the playground behind the big building.

Anna bites her lip and claps her hands. "Oh, Kristoff, that's great - let's play!"

"But there are only two of us."

"Oh, look, there are Belle and Adam coming home from a walk. How about them?"

"Fine, but we still need a fifth person." Kristoff holds up his five-fingered hand.

"How about Sven?" Anna laughs as she runs off to ask Belle and Adam if they'd like to join them. Kristoff pats Sven's head as he sits at his feet, enjoying the mild sunshine and the amusing banter of his mates, and the young man grumbles as if he's speaking for Sven. "How about you throw the ball and I catch it with my teeth? That would be fun!"

Sven lifts his head with a whiny yawn, only to lick Kristoff's hand, who shrugs and chuckles.

"Sorry buddy, Foursquare is for humans only."

Just then Anna returns with a big smile on her face. "Let's play. I'll get the ball."

Adam and Belle walk over to Kristoff and admire the newly painted fields on the stone floor. "Looks great." Belle admits and Adam rolls up his shirt sleeves. "Let's get this thing started."

"But we need a fifth person." Kristoff groans.

"Ah, right." Adam shrugs and Belle waves her hand and says, "that'll do. It's for fun anyway."

Anna comes back with a suitable ball, and they start the game, throwing and bouncing the ball with laughter until it falls out of the field and they don't know how to swap places.

"Do you need this?" Hans stands nearby and kicks the ball back to the group of four.

"Oh, do you want to play?" Anna calls, waving him over.

"Anna, I doubt he can play like that." Kristoff shakes his head.

"It's all right." Hans shrugs and hugs the bundle to his chest. "Iduna is fast asleep, content with a full belly."

"Then maybe jumping around is not the best of ideas?" Belle interjects, and just then the little rosy face glimpsing out of the baby sling snores loudly enough for all to hear.

"You see? She's far away in dreamland." Hans smiles and gives his little daughter a warm smile.

"Well then, you're in, and Adam is out." Anna explains, earning a frustrated look from the literature professor. "What? Did I make a grammar mistake, or why are you killing me with your looks?" She laughs out loud and Iduna stirs in her sleep. "Oops, sorry." Anna covers her mouth with her hand and giggles.

"No, everything's fine." Adam grins now and lets Hans onto his field while he watches.

It's silly, really, how much fun such a simple children's game can be, but since they're all home for the holidays, the adults can do what they like. And it is fun.

Little Iduna doesn't mind the bouncing, and occasionally a ball will bounce gently off her back. She blinks a few times, yawns and burps, and Hans makes sure she's safe and sound.

Until his wife appears on the other side of the field.

"Hans!"

Everyone turns around, and the ball bounces into the grass. Hans tilts his head. "Yes, darling?"

"Say, have you gone mad?"

"No, it's such a fun game."

"That's not what I meant. When you said you were going for a walk with Iduna, I didn't expect you to hop around with her."

"Oh, that..."

Elsa shakes her head with a sigh, runs a hand over her face and waddles both hands in a motion that says, 'come on, give me the baby'.

"All right. Either you give me the baby, or I will play instead of you."

Hans' face falls, he looks down at the baby and then at Elsa.

"Okay, you can play.”
