Guilty As Sin ?

Summary:

Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki have been inseparable since birth. The murmurs on the corridors tend to think this relationship was more than a platonic friendship, but this statement had always been denied …Until the worst of crime happened and Hayato ended up imposing his rules. The next thing Izuku knew was how she drowned herself in sadness and had the impression of missing her other half….

Or: Izuku and Katsuki are best friends, Hayato is an asshole and put Izuku into a toxic relationship, so Katsuki saves the day by having her back despite her feelings for the freckled woman (happy ending trust me).

Work Text:

Izuku Midoriya was someone with a genuine intention to transform this world into a better place with her naive belief, but she never expected to find herself in a compromising situation. The only frame her mind could recall was the sigh of her best friend standing at her door, before welcoming the blurry vision with salty tears. In this misery, gentle hands lead her in a comforting warmth, explaining how it’ll be okay.

It was the same person who supported her through her childhood, accepting each of her flaws and cherishing this relationship more than her own life, and still…the blonde agreed to stay despite her best friend’s stupidity. The greenette should’ve known this story was leading to failure, especially when it started in the worst way with alcohol in their blood, playing with her vulnerability to slowly break her shield when this game became boring.  This relationship was different from the previous experience Izuku had, being a simple flirt at first before experiencing a real-life movie to completely blind the innocent soul in this dangerous game that was awaiting her.

If Hayato promised the world with his sweet voice and double-meaning gesture, slowly trying to have the vulnerable women by his side and create codependency, the green-haired woman fell for it at first. Being a hopeless romantic had always an impact on her innocent soul, searching for the knight the fairytale sold as a savior….but some days were harder than others. Fights would eventually happen over the slightest things, with Izuku raising her voice and explaining how she couldn’t tolerate this shitty behavior any longer, but the man ended up using this situation to his advantage.

“You’ve been hurt in the past and your behavior is justified but this doesn’t mean you have to blame me. You’re just reflecting your insecurities in each of my actions and words, when I would never do such a thing, especially after knowing your past.”

It was how their arguments always ended with Hayato slowly gaining momentum on erasing the last hint of self-defense and criticism inside the woman’s mind. Don’t blame Izuku for naively believing in a second chance and falling for his stupid excuses, without realizing how it was too late to escape and that she was a prisoner of this selfish game. The emotional manipulation started to be used as the only argument, pointing out how she should spend more time with her boyfriend than her best friend, giving the impression that Hayato was a simple toy she used.

Indeed, the signs were under her eyes, but Izuku was naive and decided to act like a better girlfriend. Her previous relationships often blamed her for being too annoying and becoming the reason for their break-up, which unconsciously convinced her that she was the one at fault. Fine, if the other relationships didn’t work out, maybe this one could be the first and last! There were sacrifices to make to keep a relationship stable…but Izuku Midoriya ended up accepting the unacceptable: Distancing herself from her best friend on purpose, just to please Hayato’s ego and give him another victory.

Katsuki Bakugo wasn’t stupid and noticed how their dynamic changed overnight. Until now, Hayato never hesitated to put a limit on their interaction when he had the impression of not controlling the situation, publicly explaining how he disliked the dynamic between the two women, but the blonde ignored it.

She was holding on to this strong bond with Izuku and her form at a younger age when they were nothing but brats discovering mysteries together with shining eyes full of hope. They were this inseparable duo, the one everyone envied from afar and it wasn’t a secret if Izuku Midoriya had always been this light in Katsuki’s life, the one brightening her day and melting her heart when the emerald eyes glimpse at her for a moment. The blonde genuinely wanted to protect her best friend from the people able to change her naive perception of the world, including this shitty person that was supposed to be a boyfriend.

If she put aside her jealousy for a while, considering it was none of her business to have a complete report of Izuku’s personal life, it became obvious when the black-haired man enjoyed the power he had over this relationship.

The most heartbreaking part was to see how blinded the freckled woman was, despite the numerous warnings the blond tried to give her to open her eyes, trying to bring her back to reality. However, Katsuki underestimated how this game was a losing battle: The green-haired woman was already under his hold, assuring how it was just a bad impression from the blonde’s perspective. This bittersweet situation was annoying for the taller woman who used to be welcomed by a smile, now forced to face the empty gaze of the emerald eyes without a hint of conversation. Still, in this misery…..It might also represent a certain victory for her, knowing how Hayato feared her presence in Izuku’s life, forced to admit how she had too much power to let his empire fall overnight.

This 7 months relationship caused more pain than they expected.

Both sides suffered in silence, the best friends who used to be inseparable were now unable to have a simple conversation about the weather and their day’s activity. Katsuki judged it necessary to hold this sadness inside her chest and pretend, refusing to make this situation worse than it already was. Unfortunately, this heartbreaking twist in their friendship seemed to impact Izuku, who lost her colors as the days passed and wondered if this thin string could be fixed again or if she was the one digging her own grave.

The only emotions rising inside the blonde’s chest were negative, essentially built with the base of anger and jealousy when this asshole’s shadow reached the corridor to mark his way and expose the shorter woman as a trophy to the most curious eyes. Katsuki couldn’t stand any longer the idea of seeing Hayato's hands on her best friend’s shoulders, whispering things to her ears and glancing at Katsuki, almost like he was taunting the other and anyone who wanted to have a chance with his trophy. Most of the time, the blonde found a reason to leave the same room as the two shadows, considering it was too painful to endure this situation any longer when her heart was on the line, ignoring the worried glance on her best friend’s face.

On the other side, Izuku started to feel overwhelmed by the constant reminder of being a better person, and girlfriend and how she wasn’t enough. Naturally, she started to drown herself in the pressure and obligation to be the perfect partner. It was a rule she unconsciously established to save her next relationship to satisfy old mistakes, thinking Hayato was better than the others, but it ended up signing her death warrant. The jovial and heartwarming figure lost all her colors, taking dust like an old painting that used to shine brighter than any midnight sky in the early days. She forced herself to please her boyfriend, who ended up becoming the only figure in her life, making sure to cut contact with any family member and barely have a talk with the friends he didn’t consider as a threat to his plan.

When she was hanging out with her group, mostly composed of some people who caught her despair becoming more visible every day, she stopped trying. Some days, she would simply confess how lonely she felt without her best friend, and how trying to please Hayato was taking too much energy…something she left behind like her real self in this manipulating game.

Ochako, Shoto, and Tenya weren’t as close as Izuku was with Katsuki, but they tried to help their friend as soon as possible to avoid a no-return situation. They naturally recommended she prepare for an eventual breakup, explaining how taking some distance was the right thing to do to have clear ideas and realize how this was fucked up.

This had never been a healthy relationship in the first place, but Izuku was too broken to stand the idea of being alone against the world. Hayato already had a strong impact on her mental health, to the point where she might be afraid to make a single move on her own. During those lonely nights, memories of the old times crossed her mind, remembering how the blonde figure used to praise her for speaking out loud about her rights.

The scarred hands grabbed the pillow tightly, glancing at the picture standing near her bed, reflecting the precious treasure she left behind months ago….

—---

The frame was dated from the 4th grade, during their elementary school.

That day, the weather agreed to highlight their summer vacation, with the wind ruffling the lost curls on Izuku’s forehead and catching the blonde’s attention by how soft they looked. The background illustrated the familiar landscape of the garden where the two childhood friends used to go, considering it as their secret place. Sometimes when life was hard on them for multiple reasons, no matter if it was personal or scholarly, the two shadows reached the abandoned treehouse where only they had the keys. Back in the day, phones were forbidden for children around their age and the two figures agreed to take a Polaroid and frame some of the most unforgettable pictures together.

The quality was bad and the picture blurry, but the laughs were worth it.

“Your face looks like shit, did something happen between you and Auntie ?” Katsuki asked, positioning herself on the wood worn by the years and the previous rain.

Her knees were already hurt due to a previous fall, trying a little earlier to impress her friend on the scale. This action only made the green-haired child deadly worried about the blood on her skin, explaining how they needed to go to the hospital as soon as possible. However, after a small argument concerning whether Katsuki was able to take care of herself or not, she let the other win by putting some bandage on the injury, sealed with a magic kiss like Auntie Inko always does! The stubborn child chased the blush off her cheeks, ignoring how breathtaking the sight of Izuku's genuine smile was. What was happening in her chest and why did her stupid best friend have to be the one at the origin of this strange sensation?

The greenette decided to stay silent after the question, raising the fear inside the blonde’s chest. After all, She had known her best friend since a young age and there was something wrong with the sudden silence treatment. The nerd would usually be the one making the conversation, sharing her latest discovery about their favorite childhood heroes and how she wanted to be like All Might when she was older.

Unfortunately, the only sound filling the silence that day was the birds flying through the sky in their quest for freedom, leaving the two children with a sad feeling. The small hands held her dress tighter, almost like she needed to hold onto something, sensing the familiar fingers from the other playing with her curls. It was Katsuki’s idea to make a braid in her hair, one of their habits during their escaping days and Izuku never complained because Kacchan was amazing in everything she did!

Indeed, as childish as it sounds, Izuku’s sudden behavior and distance were explained by the nightmare she had the last night: In her dream, she was forced to face a situation where the two best friends would simply be strangers to each other, breaking this string bond they’ve built for so long. It was more than a simple relationship but a timeless bond between two missing pieces finding each other and being inseparable.

“If you don’t want to talk, it’s alright but don’t keep all this weight on your small shoulders,” whispered the blonde, trying to hide her hesitant tone. During silence like that, she knew how the other needed time, but it was her duty to know what was happening inside her best friend’s mind! “You’re not All Might, you’re just Deku, the annoying neighborhood living near my house and having sleepovers with me.”

Tears fell down the freckled cheeks, fingers holding the tissue of her clothes tighter and trying to hold back her sob. She shouldn’t cry and show how weak she is, but the idea of being alone in a world without the blonde unconsciously leads her to be emotional. Kacchan was the only person agreeing to be her friend in the neighborhood and welcomed her craziness, which was something Inko was grateful for. Her daughter’s happiness was the most important goal to reach in this world, and seeing Izuku happy was her biggest pride.

“But….who knows if it’s gonna last ?” She answered in a shaking tone, realizing how the previous gesture into her braid stopped, hinting how the other was deadly serious about this situation.

“What do you mean ?” The blonde asked with a curious tone, but smiling at the sight of facing an actual answer instead of the bird’s songs. It was better than nothing and agreed to let the other take all the time she needed to express herself about the overwhelming feelings rising in her chest. “Seriously, you’re thinking too much and you should rely on me if something is wrong, Deku !”

“I know and I’m grateful for having Kacchan as my best friend,” assured the greenette with a smile, before putting her head against her knees and remembering the content of her nightmare. “I’m only worried because I don’t want you to find another best friend because of my mistakes. The last night I imagined how our lives would’ve been if I chose a guy over you…and this gave me the impression of losing a part of myself.”

The blonde was too stunned to speak after the previous revelation and Izuku accepted how she was the one to blame, ignoring the footsteps in her ears, before noticing familiar hands giving her a few pictures inside the palm of her hands. Her emerald eyes widened at the sight, raising her head to meet the worried crimson one, and slowly grabbed the memories framed, the ones the two friends cared about.

“You’re the only one able to make the decision in your life and don’t let anyone dictate their laws because you can be the ruler of your kingdom. You can raise an entire army of dragons by the sound of your voice and charm everyone who wants to have a second of your attention by your beauty or whatever-” she ignored the blush on her cheeks, noticing how the previous pain turned into awe, which brought back the strange sensation in her heart. “These pictures are the proof that I’ll choose you over anyone, and I’m not leaving and will never. I’m gonna stay suck with you until the end because you’re my best friend…it’ll be you and me against the world !”

Bright colors slowly regained the freckled face, expressing a genuine smile for the first time since the beginning of their conversation. She always loved how Katsuki could transform her darkest days into a stunning painting of emotions filling her chest. The small hands held the pictures gently, bringing them to her heart, cherishing them as the most precious treasure to her soul.

“I would never leave Kacchan either,” she murmured with a soft tone, knowing the crimson eyes were carefully listening to each of their words. “I don’t know what to do if you’re a ghost to my past, and I don’t need anyone by my side for the throne…just you. Kacchan is the only one able to rule my lands because you’re my best friend and will always be !”

—--

A nostalgic expression drew itself on Izuku’s face, glancing for too long at this magic she lost and put aside while growing up. That day, the two childhood friend decided to create their kingdom with their own rules, most of them being stupid and childish, but they ended up taking a picture to seal this promise. They had a land to conquer, millions of lives to save and a future to build together…but it fell apart when the opposite team became stronger than their bond.

Years later, this cherished province, usually full of love was abandoned by the destruction the freckled woman brought herself against her will. She let their rival take the power, and bring everything they built down for selfish desire. This throne usually reserved for her best friend was now empty, taking the dust like the regrets haunting Izuku’s mind…leading her to dream about a happy ending where they would’ve survived to this obstacle.

Izuku Midoriya was someone full of flaws, highlighted by Hayako and praised by Katsuki.

She wasn’t the prettiest woman on the campus for her boyfriend, but she was considered the most precious treasure this world offered to her best friend. The hang-out session with the blonde was way better than the one where she was stuck to face with an annoying man who showed her like a prize. Usually, she naturally welcomed the endless laugh and genuine smile, to the point where tears of happiness fell down her cheeks once she returned to her dorm after the most unforgettable day of her life. Izuku hated herself for being the one who ruined their precious relationship, letting all their promise fall like the ghost of their past haunting each other when no one was looking.

Her fingers grabbed the pillow closer, admiring the childhood memories a last time before whispering a low “I’m so sorry, Kacchan. I hope you’ll forgive me one day,” in her shaking tone. That night, the curled-haired woman fell asleep to her tears and wished to change the past, keeping the promises they made to each other in their treehouse.

Maybe she didn’t even deserve a second chance.

—--

The figure appeared in the corridor, occupied by typing something on her phone when sudden arms reached her shoulder, making her return to the tragic reality.

The blonde rolled her eyes, catching the familiar shadow of the annoying people she described as “extras”, who tolerated her presence for some unknown reason. The authenticity of this group was how their different personalities succeeded in matching with each other, bringing some novelty and being in crazy situations. Everyone had their feeling concerning each other, and it didn’t last long before admiring how Pinky and Shitty Hair officially announced their relationship, leaving the blonde wondering if it could’ve been her and Izuku in another life.

Katsuki sighed, tired of replaying the same pictures inside her mind and potential endings she could’ve had if she was still on the throne. Instead, she turned her phone off and stared at the shadows beside her, giving an ounce of interest in their conversation. From what she underdog, especially after missing the beginning of their talk, the extras were mentioning the upcoming exams for the end of the semester and their summer plans for the holidays.

“-I’m working from May to August, before taking a long break away from the world on a trip I’ve planned since the beginning of the year. I’ll still check if I have free time for you guys, like the old days when adult life wasn’t stressful enough for our brain cells,” Denki exclaimed with a sigh, wishing he could freeze time to forever enjoy his youth instead of wondering about surviving university.

“Since when did you become such an active person? Bro, last year you were projecting yourself in being a Twitch streamer because it was the best way to win money and stay at home all day,” Sero replied with a curious glance, observing how Jirou agreed with him.

“Since my parents threatened me to get a job and have this year or they’ll kick me out of the house, dumbass,” objected the blond with an annoyed tone, hating how he wished for more freedom in his own life. Unfortunately, the fairytale about being the main character of his life was bullshit he had to face earlier against his will.

Beside them, Kirishima and Mina started to describe how they planned to get to their first holidays together, finally having time for themselves. No more stress for the exams, just a couple enjoying each other’s presence…which was something Katsuki envied. In another life, maybe Iuzku would’ve realized how toxic her boyfriend was and would have chosen her best friend over some bastard, knowing he’d never give her the same unconditional tenderness. Those years of one-sided love and heartbreak ended up turning against Katsuki herself…what a stupid way to enjoy life waiting for a sign of change in this misery.

A few whispers somehow caught her attention, forcing her to lose the previous interest in their conversation. A familiar figure crossed the corridor, a face people were able to recognize too well because he was the name on everyone’s lips…for the wrong reasons. Many rumors circulated about his relationship with Izuku, playing with Katsuki’s nerves, but the sight under her eyes was too much to handle. Not only this asshole was standing proudly in the corridor like he enjoyed being the center of attention, but he was also putting his dirty hands on someone else’s shoulders!

Hayato, the guy who only swore by Izuku’s name with the false promises of staying with her ended up exposing a new target to the world. This man was conscious of the consequences of his actions, especially with the following murmurs concerning her childhood friend. The opinions were mitigated between the ones standing by the man’s side, explaining how Izuku wasn’t worthy of his love while others even took this occasion to describe the freckled woman as the one being the mastermind.

The blonde held her fist tighter, trying to control her anger, and wished she could simply shout out to these fuckers to stop. None knew the real Izuku, the vulnerable soul who used to be scared of storms and reached Katsuki’s house in the middle of the night because she couldn’t sleep. No one would ever know how the emerald shade in her eyes was the prettiest color created, smacking the blonde who lost herself in this endless forest every time they met. The real Izuku midoriya was the most devoted and caring person this world created, but Hayato succeeded in reducing the small amount of pride to disgrace.

“That’s strange,” pointed out the pink-haired woman with a curious glance. “It’s the first time he showed up publicly with her, it seems like he did his job at breaking poor Midoriya’s heart, I wish I could take revenge for her.”

“What do you mean ?” Katsuki asked, suddenly taking interest in the background noises.

The group shared an understanding nod, almost like they recognized this hint of pain in the crimson eyes. It wasn’t a surprise if the obvious crush their friend shared toward her childhood friend was explicit to the world, which was probably another reason why Hayato enjoyed playing with the blonde’s nerves back in the day. Indeed, Izuku Midoriya had this natural charm, stealing everyone's heart but surprisingly Katsuki was one of the rarest who didn’t try anything to try her chance.

“Well, months ago some people caught Hayato with this girl in the corridor and they seem pretty close, more than friends should be if you want my opinion,” Kirishima added, revealing all the information he got from the rumors. “He was getting touchy with her, putting his hands on her tight and making her laugh but everyone thought it was simply flirting…even if it was immoral.”

The crimson eyes widened at the revelations. She knew Hayato wasn’t the kind of guy to stay loyal to his “I’ll love you until the end” promises, it was easily readable with the expression on his face and dark smike…but this time he crossed the line. Being disrespectful toward himself for being a jerk was a thing, but being disrespectful toward someone like Izuku who never asked to be ashamed like that was Katsuki’s last straw. Many people wondered when did he start cheating on the freckled woman, or even if it was a recurrent thing he kept hidden for this long. The taller woman tried her best to contain her anger and not throw a punch at that bastard face, making a scene about how he ruined people’s lives by simply existing.

Her heart missed a beat at the idea of Izuku learning the news…She was a shy person who wanted to stay away from the judgmental glare and ended up being the center of attention against her will. The worst part was how she was trying to make their relationship work, and she sacrificed too many things to be humiliated like that!

“And no one had the balls to share the news with Dek-Izuku? She’s the one suffering in this relationship, being cheated on and you all decided to let her in her misery? That’s pretty shitty if you want my opinion,” pointed out the blonde, not holding back her truths. If only she knew about Hayato’s games earlier, she would’ve reached the freckled woman and exposed the truth, even if it was painful to hear.

“Some people tried to confront him about what they’ve seen but he always threatened them,” Sero added with a sigh, putting his back on the walls and facing the pale gaze of the taller woman. “None know what happened with this poor Akira but she tried to confront him about his immoral actions and ended up in tears. She refused to speak and the bravest soul tried to confront Midoriya, but he was always here, trying to lie and we all knew it was a question of time before exposing the truth.”

This time Katsuki wasn’t able to control the anger rising in her blood. She had a bad feeling about Hayato’s presence in her best friend’s life since the beginning but a few warnings wouldn’t work on a devoted person like Izuku. Her fist reached the closest wall, making a few posters fall on the floor and catching everyone’s eyes. Luckily, Hayato was out of reach and already showing how he was shit until the end and was good at replacing people like toys.

A this moment, The blonde connected the dots of the recent events.

It’s been a few days since Izuku didn’t show up in her lectures, she was usually so determined to succeed in her degree, and it was surprising to see someone so motivated missing important classes. It should’ve been the first red flag the blonde thought it was because Hayato was forcing her to hang out, skipping college as he always did, knowing how it was one of his bad habits to force people to do something against their will. Don’t get her wrong, Katsuki’s instincts tried to warn her about the current situation, almost like her soul begged her to check on her best friend…but the last time she talked with the freckled woman was months ago.

“I’ll be nothing but a bother to her if I keep chasing after someone who made their choice,” were the thoughts crossing the blonde’s mind in the last days, being influenced by the pain in her chest. She should’ve followed her guts and braved the forbidden by contacting her best friend…Katsuki was stupid for thinking that way, but a quick glimpse at the clock indicated that it wasn’t too late to fix this problem.

“Take the lectures for me, extras,” she shouted out loud before running outside the campus as fast as she could. She recalled hearing a few questions on the other’s lips, but it was too late to return and give them the answers they needed: Izuku Midoriya was more important.

—--

The wind ruffled the sweat falling down her forehead, crimson eyes glimpsing around to find the familiar setting of the apartment where the freckled woman was living.

The blonde had been visiting this place more than once, helping the greenette with her new lifestyle and even asking to be a roommate in Katsuki’s apartment but Izuku refused, explaining how she was grateful for the offer but she had to say no. Back in the day, she was probably under Hayato’s influence. Millions of pictures scrolled inside her mind, remembering her childhood memories and how they ended up like that.

Call her stupid, but Katsuki couldn’t let Izuku down.

If the world wanted to bring her down, the taller woman had to sacrifice herself to save her best friend. Maybe she was the crazy one in this relationship, but she was blaming those feelings she kept for too long inside her chest. After a few minutes of regaining her breath and glancing around, she finally caught the number’s apartment. Her heart missed a beat, remembering how it’d be their first interaction since Hayato separated them…which was a bitter memory in their mind.

Her hands knocked on the door a few times, a gesture that became a habit after visiting the apartment. Indeed, the composition of the door was prepared to lower the sound coming from the outside, forcing any visitor to know a few times to let their presence know. After complaining a million times about how this was a shitty default of fabrication, the two childhood friends agreed to create their code: If silence precedes after 4 knocks, this means the person behind the door was Katsuki Bakugo.

The blonde never thought she would use this in this life-or-death situation, but Izuku’s life matters in each circumstance. Maybe Kastuki was doomed to have a one-sided love her entire time, but she refused to let someone like her best friend down, even if this meant suffering until her last breath. A few sounds echoed from the inside of the apartment, indicating how the freckled woman was aware of her best friend’s presence.

“Oi, I know you’re here, nerd,” she yelled, making Izuku. Putting her ears against the door wasn’t a good idea, especially when the taller woman had no shame waking up the entire students residing in the same building offered by the university. “Hiding yourself will only worsen things, and you’ve already suffered enough the last months don’t you think? Skipping lectures had never been one of your habits, and you should’ve told me instead of wearing this pain on your vulnerable shoulder, but don’t waste all these precious tears for an asshole like him.”

Luckily for them, the building was empty at this time of the day, and if any neighborhood came to complain, the golden-haired woman was ready to kick their ass on their doorstep. It was embarrassing enough for Izuku to know how the entire campus might probably be aware of the cheating because Katsuki wouldn’t be here if Hayato made things… official. The freckled woman didn’t even try to hold back her tears, letting the door slowly open as emerald eyes met the crimson ones.

When was the last time the two childhood friends agreed to take their time to admire the other’s presence? Too long to count. The last 7 months had been a complete hell for both of them, forced to stay away from each other despite the strong bond that always led them back together. If their relationship was supposed to disappear, Katsuki wouldn’t stand at her doorstep with worried eyes, looking like she had the run of her life. Maybe there was one thing Hayato didn’t destroy… their attachment to each other, which became stronger with the impression of missing a part of themselves.

“Kacchan,” she whispered, almost like it was a forbidden spell. When she was with her toxic ex, she had no right to pronounce the blonde’s nickname, only calling the taller woman by her causal name, which was extremely uncomfortable. She realized how her best friend hadn’t changed in the last months, remaining the same stunning and impressive figure in her life, despite the evident worries on her face.

Katsuki’s heart missed a beat. The idea of being too late was scaring her, but it was worse to face the teary emerald eyes, highlighting the bags under her eyes and the inner shape of her body, almost like she lost a worrying weight. It wasn’t in her habit to put her self-care aside, especially when it was this visible to the public eyes! The blonde put a note in mind to kick Hayato’s ass the next time she catches his figure in the corridor, no matter if this means embarrassing him in front of everyone.

“Dek-Izuku,” she mumbled in a gentle tone. The shorter figure didn’t know why, but this reality where her childhood friend putting her first, melted her heart, bringing an unexpected hint of hope. Katsuki standing under her eyes wasn’t a simple fever dream she created to comfort herself, but a reality where her best friend decided to chase after her despite the horrible state of their relationship in the last months.

Izuku’s body moved on its own, rushing toward the blonde and putting her head against the other’s chest. The shaking hands grabbed the tissue of her shirt tighter, afraid to let the other go, and waking up from this dream too good to be true. It’s been a while since the freckled woman didn’t feel comfortable around someone else, especially when she felt how the calloused hands returned the hug like their lives were on the lines. Their two figures stand in front of Izuku’s apartment, to the public eye but they don’t care, being too occupied to catch the lost time.

The blonde couldn’t help but notice how the shorter woman was shaking, mumbling millions of apologies in her breath, blaming herself for letting this distance separate them. This confession broke Katsuki’s heart, forcing her to hold the other closer by reassuring her about her presence. It’s been a while since the two of them shared a genuine hug, and despite the context of their reunion, the two souls seemed to genuinely care about each other.

“I’m so sorry, Kacchan,” mumbled the green-curled woman, regaining her breath back and meeting the broken eyes. She hated to see how the confidence faded away, realizing how they might be each other’s weakness and that was why Hayato was so scared of Katsuki…Because he was well aware of the fact that, no matter how hard he tried, he could never be Katsuki Bakugo.

“I’m the one who should apologize for not checking on you earlier but…” The taller figure sighed, letting her fingers wipe away the salty tears. Some actions speak louder than actual words, and Izuku realized that this proverb was right when she found herself regaining color through the previous and tender gesture. “I knew I had one thing to do after I learned the news, even if you probably need some time for yourself. Is it bad for me to check an old friend ?”

Izuku’s eyes widened, returning the hug tighter, nearly choking the blonde. Katsuki made a small chuckle, soft enough to let the vulnerable woman lose herself in this warmth. She was probably the worst friend, putting aside someone as important as her childhood best friend, simply because a man was scared by her presence in her life. There will never be enough apologies to fill the void in her chest she felt the last 7 endless months, being away from the only person who made her feel alive.

“I missed you,” confessed the greenette between her sobs, resting her head on the blonde’s shoulder. She was heartbroken and already lost everything but the most reassuring part was knowing how she could always count on her best friend, even in the darkest times. “I missed you so much, Kacchan. I have so many apologies to share that even a lifetime won’t be necessary because being away from you felt like dying into my thorns.”

Katsuki’s eyes widened.

She didn’t expect such a revelation like this one, especially from someone who used to share these sweet words with someone else. The taller woman still recalled the moment when she learned about her best friend being in a relationship, unconsciously breaking her heart because this smile was genuine. Today, this bastard was out of reach and left many broken pieces in this puzzle the two women tried to solve since the beginning of their relationship.

“I missed you too, more than anything,” she replied, authorizing herself to be vulnerable around the only person who completed her soul. “Shit, the last months had been the worst of my life, don’t ever leave me again, freckles.”

“I promise, I'm sorry to disappoint you when you’re the only thing I ever needed,”  mumbled Izuku between two tears, holding tighter into Katsuki’s grip, hoping for some forgiveness even if she doesn’t deserve a second chance.

This kingdom they built together by the force of their trust and affection suddenly revived from the dead, while Katsuki returned for the first time to this throne in crumbles, waiting for her presence.

—---

The first time Katsuki Bakgo reached Inko Midoriya’s house, was when her parents introduced themselves to the neighborhood to make a good impression.

It was a stupid rule they established to have a good reputation, even if the only one accepting them for their complete personality, to the point of becoming friends, was Inko Midoriya. This single mother was discreet in the neighborhood, doing her life and annoying no one but the ghost in her house. She also had a shy daughter, who exactly looked like her carbon copy, except for the freckles she probably hesitated from her absent father, a terrible story the woman confessed later once their relationship was solid.

Imagine Katsuki's surprise when she immediately recognized the familiar green messy curls and curious emerald eyes that followed her everywhere in kindergarten. The small girl’s face widened, shouting the famous nickname that would follow them until their oldest days, meeting the stunned faces of their parents.

“Mom, it’s Kacchan !!” Izuku explained, smiling happily while resting in Inko’s arms and explaining the whole situation. The two classmates often stay together during the activities at kindergarten, even if the greenette was the one who made the first step and started this friendship. The adults were touched to see how close the two girls were, inseparable in each activity, especially when Izuku was saying to everyone how amazing her new friend was!

“Stop following me, Deku !” The other complained, rolling her eyes and facing the laugh of her parents.

There was nothing funny in this situation but everyone around them seemed to disagree! Don’t get her wrong, the stubborn blonde didn’t hate the other’s presence, because she secretly liked it ….it was heartwarming to have someone to stay by your side when the other children were avoiding you. Izuku was the only one following her new friend on each of their journeys, even if this meant being yelled at by the adults later.

“I’m not following you, we’re neighbors, silly. This means we can go to each other’s house after kindergarten !” objected the shorter girl, indicating to her mom how she wanted to leave her arms. Inko smiled, kissing her daughter’s forehead before watching her shadow reach the blonde’s. The parents exchanged an understanding gaze when they caught their children hugging each other, explaining to the world how they would always stay together from now on.

This meaningless event started this strong relationship between the two women now sitting in the small living room, where the background noises of the town mixed themselves with the television. Living in a small apartment alone had been the hint of freedom the green-curled woman had been looking for since she joined university, but it had always been more comfortable when her best friend was around. Katsuki’s presence always lightened her darkest days, and she enjoyed how close they became, even if the silence in the room made this situation awkward. The previous reunion they exchanged echoed in their mind as a precious memory to cherish, but it didn’t stop the blonde from being the one taking care of her friend.

She knew this apartment by heart, including where the freckled woman was hiding her hot chocolate, the one she secretly enjoyed since they were brats. Inko had been a kind woman to let her daughter discover the joy of this taste that slowly drove her into a habit of drinking it when she felt the need to be reassured. If she turned around, Katsuki would’ve noticed how the short woman smiled at the scene of seeing her best friend in the kitchen, preparing a habit that was their own garden, something no one could take away.

Hopefully, the freckled woman succeeded in keeping a few secrets for herself in her toxic relationship, even if it was the only thing she was proud of….

The familiar shadow reached the couch and put the hot drink on the table. The scarred hands held the blanket closer, remembering how the other insisted on bringing the maximum comfort Izuku needed.  A slight blush colored her cheeks, before making a genuine smile when she thanked the other, putting her lips on the cup. The childhood memories replayed in her mind, remembering how life was easier when she was a naive child with the hope of transforming this society into a better place.

“You know, my biggest mistake was probably to let you go,” The greenette confessed after a few slips, meeting the crimson eyes, who seemed surprised by the confession. “I was too blinded by his presence that I let myself break the most important promise: the one to keep you by my side. You were right all along but I wanted to fix my past so bad that I ended up drowning myself to the point where each day by his side felt like suffocating.”

The callous hands reached her shoulders, observing how the light in her beautiful emerald eyes slowly started to return, symbolizing how it wasn’t too late to be the savior in this story. Katsuki was so blinded by her pain that she didn’t even imagine how being distant from each other also had an impact on her best friend.

“You tried your best and I wish I could say your choice didn’t hurt me, but it did,” replied the blonde, putting a lost curls being the other’s ears, catching how the scarlet color was a new view she enjoyed. “I put myself away from you for too long, thinking you needed to be alone and respecting your privacy, but maybe blaming each other for this downfall isn’t the right thing to do at the moment.”

“What do you mean ?” Izuku asked curiously, ignoring the way her heartbeat echoed louder than the sound of her best friend’s voice.

It was the first time she took her time to enjoy the mesmerizing face of Katsuki, with her breathtaking eyes and expression that could be read like an open book. As she always been this stunning despite the hurt gaze on her face? It was a new sentiment rising in her chest, something she needed to discover by herself in this new journey. Leaving Hayato was already her biggest pride, and slowly regaining her freedom even if the last days were emotionally complicated with mixed emotions she didn’t know until now.

“The only one to blame here is this asshole,” affirmed the taller woman with a confident tone. If this conversation had happened in the previous months, it would’ve been more complicated to share their thoughts with the dangerous shadow of Hayato in the vicinity. “I’ve seen shitty people in my life, but he’s the first on my list, and we both know how it’s a long one.”

A soft chuckle escaped from Izuku’s lips, which echoed as a melody to the other’s ears. It felt heartwarming to see her childhood friend regaining colors after the hell she’d been through, but Katsuki’s biggest pride was to see how this endless circle was finally over. From now on, the lost souls decided to save the kingdom they were supposed to rule together…taking back their territory and rebuilding a bright future for their younger selves.

“I should’ve seen the signs earlier instead of letting him take everything from me, including the most important person in my life,” Izuku answered with a sad tone, taking another sip of her drink, before turning her head and focusing on the blonde’s tender expression. It wasn’t a surprise if both of them had always had a sweet spot for each other, especially in the most vulnerable conversations. “He was constantly controlling each of my movements, to the point where I was afraid of him finding a way to reach my mind and take advantage of my thoughts. It was the only hint of freedom I had, even if some of my nights were filled with regrets about not being a disappointment to you for breaking a lifetime promise.”

Oh.

Knowing Izuku, it wasn’t a surprise if the freckled woman reacted that way. She had always been the kind of person to put herself in the other’s place and ignore her wellbeing. Being a people pleaser was a caring but destroying aspect, always pushing herself to be the someone she wasn’t to please some extras and letting the darkest shadows take advantage of this situation. It was rare to find someone as pure as Izuku Midoriya: The freckled woman succeeded in transforming the blonde’s flaws into strength, which should be considered a superpower, knowing her stubborn personality.

After all, It had always been Izuku and Katsuki, Deku and Kacchan…And Hayato had never been included in this kingdom.

This was probably this precise statement that scarred him, no matter how hard he tried, he would never be as important as Katsuki Bakugo was in Izuku Midoriya’s life. This strong bond was the reason for much jealousy, but this made the two women happier than ever, knowing they didn’t need anyone but only each other to survive in this world. Hayato might have temporarily had his victory, but it was a question of time before paying for the wasted tears the smaller woman shreds for someone who doesn’t deserve it.

Izuku Midoriya was a treasure to cherish, a soul to love until its last breath, and a person to praise for each of her progress. Being this close with the nerd from an early age has a certain advantage, scaring the potential love interest afraid of replacing the best friend, the same one who had feelings for her nerdy crush since the beginning. Keeping this secret for so long felt wrong and it hurt more than I should’ve, but today, all those years of silenced tears were finally solved…because the two women realized how they couldn’t live without each other.

“The road to return to your past self announced itself tough after the insecurities he created, but you’ve already made great progress by leaving his grip and I’m genuinely proud of you for that. There’s nothing new with the common knowledge that the only thing this asshole is talented for is being a pain in everyone’s ass and drowning himself in his shitty ego but I’m sure he’ll pay the price one of these days…it’s just a question of time before seeing him begging on his knees to have your love back before being publicly rejected.” She affirmed, making a grin because it was a question of time before giving him the humiliation and shame someone like him deserves.

It was strange to picture a world where someone else could’ve taken her best friend’s place…because the green-haired woman truly cared about was Katsuki. It was the same person who stayed by her side since the beginning and still sacrificed her precious time to commit a lost friend….when many people would’ve given up and moved on, but the blonde stayed loyal to her promises.

“But…What I’m going to do now ?” Izuku asked with a shaking tone, putting her head against the blonde’s shoulder and holding the comforting figure closer. It had always been their thing to reach for each other’s presence when the darkest days showed up at their doors. They were each other’s biggest pride and weakness, with an unbreakable bond scaring everyone who wanted to have a romantic chance with one of them.

“Rebuilt yourself and take the time to realize how you’re more than an object to show to the world, but a soul to cherish,” replied the taller woman, pressing her hands behind the shaking back, noticing how the other stayed silent. “The world needs to look at you like I always did, as one of the strongest women and most inspirational figures I’ve ever seen. You’re much more than just a trophy, and I know there is someone’s on this place waiting for your love…”

Katsuki had always been an amazing one, one of the best people Izuku have ever met in her life and still, she was too hard on herself sometimes for thinking she didn’t deserve this kind of support. After all, the previous choices she made were destructor for her longtime friendship, and it could be a question of time before the blonde figures out how the best thing to do is to stay away from someone as chaotic as her best friend. The truth was that the freckled woman had enough of constantly trying to be someone she wasn't and missed the way people liked her presence because she was Izuku Midoriya, and not this one shadow in the crowd, playing a role to cover the insecurities in her chest. The only one who genuinely cut off this bullshit about faking the smile on her face was Katsuki: the blonde couldn’t tolerate any longer the idea of watching the most important person of her life losing her mesmerizing colors. This reunion after 7 endless months wasn’t the exception to the rule, with the two childhood friends taking their time to be reassured by each other’s presence like the old time before their castle crumbled into millions of pieces.

However, Izuku couldn’t help but face this strange sensation rising inside her chest with new kinds of emotions. It gave her an impression of deja vu based on her past experiences in relationships, reminding her how she used to be naively blinded by the euphoria of enjoying the current moment with her partner….but this time, it was more delicate, almost like she’s been keeping them for too long. The careful and subtle hands gently ruffled her back, taking her time to comfort the other and let the scarlet color highlight the freckles on the woman’s cheeks. Being this close to her best friend somehow felt right, almost like she always belonged in the other’s arms but she needed time to heal and move on after the terrible damage this asshole left in her past confidence.

“Kacchan,” she whispered with a delighted look, raising her head and meeting the crimson eyes. Her heart missed a beat when she realized how close they were, knowing how such a sight would’ve made her ex jealous if he was here. Maybe the rumors about the strange nature of their relationship were true and they didn’t need anyone else: just each other to build their world. “I’m so sorry, I wish I could restart again and don’t break your heart the same way I did. You’re more than a simple friend to me because you’re my missing piece, the one I’ve always looking for, and confessing this truth won’t be enough to forgive me but you deserve to know how I feel if you want to give me a second chance.”

Katsuki’s cheeks revealed a shade of red, realizing how her heartbeat echoed louder than the background noises. A brunch of emotions started to fight inside her vulnerable heart, wondering where the meaning behind the chosen words was or even why they sounded so unforgettable in a situation like this…where they found each other again after being separated for so long.  To the blonde’s knowledge, they’d been close for years but it was the first time a subtle confession like this one was piercing her chest, reminding her how she was ready to give the world just to see a glimpse of Izuku’s smile.

Against their will, their two figures stepped back and simply glanced at each other, waiting for an answer, almost like this intoxicating tension was a dangerous game to play. It wasn’t uncommon to have this moment of blankness in their conversations, but something felt different… almost like the expression on their faces spoke louder than their previous promises.

The background noises returned to fill the silence, revealing how the town was still active at this hour, reminding them how they should be in lectures but it didn’t matter. The two women have more important problems to deal with, privileging their personal lives over the student’s ones that caused them so much stress until now. The goals of this heartwarming reunion were to erase the worries in each other’s eyes and be the shoulder to cry on during the most vulnerable moments. The sunlight passed through the familiar curtain, highlighting the freckles on the heated cheek, indicating a shade of scarlet color… a view the blonde would never be tired of. Under this angle, the smile residing on the delicate lips had never been this touching, just like the shade of green coloring these precious and messy curls.

The callous palm didn’t hesitate twice before putting the lost curls behind the woman’s ears, catching Izuku’s heavy breath with their faces speaking louder than any words they pronounced until now. The heat of Katsuki’s fingers met Izuku’s skin, leaving both of them speechless by their proximity but none dared to break this ethereal moment that echoed like one of the movies they watched many times during their childhood. Hayato had always been the one in control of Izuku’s feelings, but it felt strange to realize how, the entire time, her heart was beating for her best friend…at least, it was when the realization hit her.

Izuku Midoriya couldn’t condemn herself to a life where Katsuki Bakugo didn’t exist. She needed to stay close to her childhood friend in every way possible: as a stranger, first friend, annoying roommate, classmate, and finally…a confidant she could count on.

She had been addicted to the blonde’s presence the entire time and decided to put her reason aside for a moment and let her heart make the final decision. This affection she considered as a simple friendship turned out to be fireworks of emotions leaving their tavern to color the dusted aspect of her soul, previously erased by the devil that led her to the downfall. Kastuki was the one who solved her insecurities and transformed them into strength, cherished each of her flaws, and made sure to put Izuku first…which was something none of Izuku’s exes did in the past.

It was the kind of love that was described in the books, written in ink to reassure their reader that one day, they’ll know the same fate. For a long time, the greenette fantasized about this day when love would welcome her into her arms and cherish her into her last breath but the answer had been under her eyes since the beginning: her savior was called Katsuki Bakugo. However, if she accepted this rise of happiness filling her chest and making her heartbeat louder than her thoughts, she was afraid.

Indeed, It was the first time she had experienced such an intense love for someone of the same sex as her. Don’t get her wrong, She genuinely wanted to project herself into another kind of relationship with her best friend, the one where they would be more than childhood figures teasing each other about their future without worrying about each other. She was open to every experience, but what if she was doing something wrong? Being in love with a woman doesn’t seem so different from being with a man, except it was more delicate …just like she always desired.

Izuku didn't have any issue with laying in bed for hours, losing her fingers inside the golden-haired hair and observing how the crimson eyes shined brighter than any jewel she had seen until now. Back in the day, people were ready to kill just to reach a glimpse of this timeless beauty, the one that reminds you everyday day how lucky you were to be alive. Planning the rest of her life with her childhood friend didn’t seem like a bad idea…especially when the freckled woman felt loved to her bones.

But what if it was one-sided? What if Katsuki wasn’t attracted by her and Izuku was making ideas about the situation? What if she wasn’t able to give enough love to her best friend, knowing how she’s ready to sacrifice her life for a glimpse of her smile?

“What’s going on inside your head, freckles ?” The taller woman asked with a teasing tone, cupping the heated cheeks and immediately noticing the change in the emerald eyes. If they used to be full of worries, they ended up turning into a softer and loving gaze, almost like she got a revelation in the past seconds.  Maybe Katsuki was making ideas, projecting in a temporary word where the two of them could love each other…but Izuku wasn’t interested in her and would never be.

“Nothing, I was just wondering…” The freckled woman whispered, resting her head against the blonde’s chest, and stared a little longer into the funny circumstances. How stupid she was to realize her feelings now when she already hurt the most important person in her life? Obviously, Katsuki would refuse to see Izuku as a potential love interest, but she needed to be honest with herself even if this might cost their precious friendship.

“I’ve been experiencing love many times, but it feels different when you’re around. I’m still confused about what’s happening in my chest or if I’ll ever be able to be good enough for your affection but it makes me confused. Why do I feel the need to hold you closer to me, being afraid of losing you overnight or simply seeing you disappear like we did in the past months? Kacchan…promise me to not judge or be sacred of about what I’m gonna say. You know how our friendship means to me and I don’t know what to do without you.”

The previous confession felt like a punch to the face, having the impression of living in a reality where all her wildest fantasies became true with the current state of their relationship. If Katsuki’s feelings had been sincere since the beginning and her devotion higher than Hayato’s ego…It was still a blurry path for the shorter woman, who got confused. She sincerely wanted to be loved until her dying days by someone able to treat her right, and her childhood friend was the only choice offering itself to her mind, but one wrong move and this precious friendship might forever change. However, the previous months of being away from each other easily led the green-haired woman to the realization that she needed Katsuki like the air she was breathing every day. There was no Izuku Midoriya without Katsuki Bakugo and the nature of their relationship slowly changed into the idea of chasing after a ghost, before reviving from the dead once they found each other’s warmth.

Things will be different after this feeling realization, from both sides even if it was already figured out by the blonde years ago. Izuku knew she could never see a platonic relationship with her longtime friend when love started to change the perspective of each gesture, touch, and promise to escape their lips. The freckled woman was tired of fighting against an invisible rival that was her overthinking, and due to her emotional journey, she simply wanted to be honest with herself for once in her life.

“I do think…I don’t know how to explain it but maybe I like you,” she explained with a deep breath, trying to proceed with what just happened. The whole scene can be considered crazy for their past self, but a tender reality for their future selves returning to the old memories. “There’s a lot of things I’m trying to process, but my only wish is to stay by your side, as a best friend or…a one-sided love.”

Oh.

Katsuki didn’t know she held her breath for too long until scarred hands reached her shoulders to check on the other with a worried expression on her face. If this was a dream, don’t wake her up because she finally found peace in this ethereal reality. All those years, she spent her days fantasizing about a potential reality where her love was one-sided and it still felt strange…Maybe breaking up with this asshole was the key to their unsolved questions. Yet, a part of the blonde wondered if the greenette wasn’t saying these things because she was under the emotion of their reunion and her emotions, which would be considered her last straw

The taller woman sighed, making a slight nod before reassuring the shorter figure next to her. Many questions and thoughts crossed her mind, but the only thing that mattered was how Izuku was confessing a universal truth she waited for her entire life. Loving her best friend might be the hardest fight of her life, but it ended up signing her revival when those feelings were mutual after so many years of jealousy and wasted tears.

“Izuku,” her voice filled the silence, catching the emerald eyes in hers, having the impression that time stopped itself for a few seconds. It should be forbidden to be this attractive, but the taller woman decided to bring the right answers before making a decision she might regret later. “It’s alright to be lost, especially after the recent turn of events but don’t forget how the only one able to know the nature of your feelings is yourself. I might have my reason for keeping this secret hidden for so long, but if you consider this kind of love as a platonic thing with the euphoria of the reunion, I’ll accept it. Make me the promise to stay by my side, even if we’re simply doomed to watch the other falling in love with someone else…”

Izuku’s eyes widened. A sudden hint of jealousy reached her chest and she hated the idea of watching her best friend falling out of love for her, even if it was a selfish wish. There was no way a stranger was going to steal her attention because she needed to be hers! The scarred hands grabbed the callous palm, moving closer to the taller figure and looking straight into the other’s eyes, too afraid to break this atmosphere between them.

“Don’t,” shouted the green-haired woman with a broken expression on her face, being aware that she was unfair to her best friend. After all, she was the one who made Katsuki suffer the entire time with her chaotic relationship and now the roles were reversed…it was painful to see someone so important walking away from her. “I’m not the best about love, but I know I’m ready to sacrifice my last breath for you, even if it takes us decades to finally understand our sentiments. Am I selfish to keep you by my side even if your broken heart is hating me for taking this long to realize such a universal truth ?”

“Rule number one: being selfish isn’t a bad thing if this means showing to your partner how you care about them. I don’t mind grabbing this chance, knowing I’ve waited my whole life for this moment but I’m ready to take my time just to offer you the answer you need. After all, that’s why you owned my heart since the beginning, but it’s fine if it’s you, freckles.”

Izuku didn’t know when she started crying, but she welcomed the tears like they always belonged here. The worst part was how this new chapter of her life announced itself more complicated due to the unknown and endless discoveries near her reach,  but she wanted to make it unique and sincere for Katsuki, especially after all the sacrifices the blonde made until now. The greenette couldn’t imagine a world without her missing piece, observing how her platonic affection turned into romantic feelings she needed to understand. Nothing assured them about having their happy ending, but the two women were ready to do everything in their hands to keep this relationship safe and share this timeless trust.

Izuku welcomed the familiar fingers wiping her tears away, before cupping her cheeks. It was crazy how staying with Katsuki gave her the impression of being at home and safer than in any of her past relationships. Maybe her childhood friend was the key to her answers since the beginning and she was ready to cherish this feeling until her last breath…

“Kacchan,” there was something delicate with the way her lips called for this meaningful nickname, almost like it always belonged to the blonde’s ears. It was the same melody erasing her nightmares and comforting her dreams…the last notes she wanted to hear on her death bed. “Can I…Can I ask you something ?”

“We both know you can ask me anything,” the tone in her voice was so gentle that it should be considered forbidden to be this mesmerizing, driving Izuku insane. No matter what her best friend put into this love potion, she got the freckled m-woman addicted to this sense of happiness she had the impression to discover for the first time.

The scarred hands slowly intertwined with the callous one, smiling at the crazy request she was going to make but it was worth trying if this meant being comfortable in her misery. “Do you love me ?”

“More than anything,” she replied without realizing how the words escaped from her lips. She waited her entire life to whisper them out loud, admiring how the emerald eyes shined brighter at her answer, melting her heart. It was hard to resist the urge to not steal these kissable lips and cover the other with unconditional love.

“Then kiss me,” Izuku murmured with a gentle tone, almost hesitating wondering if it was the right thing to do but something in her guts begged her to have the answers to her final question. Maybe she wasn’t the one with the most knowledge in this new relationship but having Katsuki’s support in each step was more meaningful than past promises. “I know it sounds risky and we can take our time to do things properly…but a part of me wants to know how it feels to belong to you, just for a few seconds.”

A sudden silence filled the living room.

Crimson eyes met the awed emerald ones, their heartbeat being louder than the background noises before hearing a low chuckle escaping from the blonde’s lips. At this moment, the freckled woman realized how doomed she was for this sweet sound, already addicted to this comforting melody in her heart. The callous palm escaped from their previous intertwined hands, only to meet the other’s neck and have Izuku’s entire attention. Scarlett colored their both cheeks, realizing how close their faces were, lips separated by a few centimeters.

Izuku already kissed men but there was something different with the way Katsuki was treating her more like a person, being sure to make things right instead of rushing things for their own selfish needs. The blonde asked if her best friend was sure about this decision, but only smirked when she got the confirmation she had been waiting for her entire life. Until now, Katsuki wanted to make things right between them, but when feelings interfered with her plan, she needed to choose. They felt each other’s breath, eyes focused on the other lips and waiting to see who was going to make the first move…

Katsuki ended up breaking her shielder and own rule when she was the first one to shut Izuku down with a gentle kiss. It caught them by surprise, feeling how their bodies immediately reacted to this request considered selfish by their past self. The blonde had been waiting her life for this moment and planned to make this unforgettable. The callous palms lost themselves in the messy curls she teased many times, which now belonged to her touch and her desire. All those years of suffering ended up being erased by the pleasure of feeling Izuku’s lips moving with delicate movement, blindly trusting the other in his new wave of emotions filling her chest.

The scarred hands left the sheet fall on the couch, reaching the other’s shoulders, and closed her eyes with this new sensation bringing her back to life. She never felt this loved and cherished with a single kiss, promising more hope than the words they exchanged until now in her past relationship, offering her this novelty and revival she desperately needed for reconstruction. The heat of their hands holding closer to each other, experiencing a first kiss like the main character in the movies felt right. The two women ignored their boundaries, reaching the forbidden and accepting how they also have the right to their happy ending after facing so many obstacles…

It felt strange at first, but this impression was erased when the blonde proved how this love was more than a simple and selfish desire but a timeless promise. Izuku was sure to forever mesmerize this moment in her mind, realizing how she didn’t deserve to be treated like shit by others, but only loved by her best friend who brought her enough support to survive a decade. The rumors about the nature of their relationship might be right because they never had a platonic relationship…At least it was the message transmitted with this first kiss.

Izuku smiled, putting her forehead against the other’s and holding the blonde’s shirt closer. She was afraid of waking up from this crazy dream where she always belonged, being cherished for her emotions and not her body. She welcomed the familiar fingers hugging her closer, knowing how this was more than enough for this new future they were writing, slowly but surely. Katsuki’s face was red, realizing how her dream had come true and she finally sealed the promises she had made for so long…it was only the beginning but the two women were ready to start a new chapter of their lives together.

“Are you sure you can support my lack of knowledge about this kind of love and are ready you wait for me ?” The freckled woman asked with a hesitant tone, afraid to break the atmosphere. She already heard the answers earlier but this time she didn’t want to let the other go…not now they found each other.

“Always,” assured the blonde, taking the freckled woman’s chin and kissing her forehead, hearing a soft chuckle from the other. “I can wait a lifetime for a glimpse of your smile.”

Izuku nodded, hugging the taller figure closer, feeling safe in her arms. The two shadows could be seen from afar, holding each other in a tender movement while gentle fingers played with the messy green curls and a genuine smile colored the other’s face. For the first time in their lives, they had the impression of finding their other half and having the right to have a healthy relationship, putting aside all the obstacles they went through to reach this ending offer itself to the palm of their hands. The shorter woman made a slight move, resting her head against the other’s chest and letting her fingers intertwine with the blonde’s in a hesitant movement before melting on the spot.

“Can we stay any longer like that ?” She mumbled in a soft tone with a slight blush on her cheeks. For the first time, Izuku wasn’t afraid to commit to a relationship, trusting herself and her childhood friend’s kindness to ensure a brighter and happier future for them. “I like being with you…”

“I’m all yours, freckles,” the taller woman teased, burning the other closer and making both of them share a slight chuckle at their crazy situation.

The two women didn’t mind spending the rest of the afternoon in this comfortable position, and the rest of their lives were welcomed by each other’s affection. Tomorrow was the weekend and preparation for the next match on the campus, but the childhood friends had other plans and Katsuki promised herself to show how love wasn’t a bother but a blessing, especially when Izuku Midoriya was the one trusting you for this next chapter of her life.

The two women concluded that many whispers might circulate the announcement of their relationship to the public, and the blonde even said she was ready to keep it secret as long as Izuku was comfortable but she refused. The greenette had enough of being known as the one who probably moved out too fast or was just this miserable soul used by the others….She needed to show the world how she deserved to be loved.

There’ll be a lot of gossip in the corridor the next week when they catch the two best friends holding each other’s hands and acting like one of these high school sweethearts, but it was the revenge Hayato deserved for breaking Izuku’s heart. All of this leads the freckled woman to eventually request the idea of staying the night here for the first time, explaining how she never liked the other side of the bed empty.

Katsuki simply replied with a pinch on her girlfriend’s cheeks, hearing a soft laugh…After all, who was she to refuse such an offer?

Notes:

Hey guys, first of all, I wanted to apologize for putting the "Only registered users can comment" because I've seen how many of my fics have been stolen by this AO3 bot and I want to make sure I keep the copyright of my work. I know this is annoying and I hate that some of you had to deal with this while they asked nothing, but it's a question of time before finding a way to solve this problem...

Anyway, this idea crossed my mind a long time ago when TTPD was released and it had been through a lot of things to be the final work you're reading. I wanted to be slightly realistic about the toxic relationship and bisexual awakening, even if I was trying my best. I apologize for the mistakes, English isn't my main language and I hope you liked this pic because it was a constant smile on my face when I wrote the final confession...I love female bkdk and I wanted to give them justice.

Thanks for reading, take care of yourself and follow me on twt for more (@Katsukux) <3
