Work Text:

It was a beautiful day when Ochako and Himiko met again. The sky was a colorful blend of pink, blue, and orange, the sun was beginning to set, and the air felt like a warm blanket.

It was also the last day the two secret lovebirds would ever have their special meeting again.

Ochako was getting ready in her dorm at 16:00 in the afternoon. She put on a pink hoodie and a jeans skirt, along with white and pink colored sneakers.

She then looked at her mirror and did a nod, assuring herself that she looked fine. She put her hair in a small ponytail, grabbed her bag that contains a gift for Himiko as well as other things she needs, and headed out of her room.

No one knew where she was heading, and she would like for it to remain that way. Her classmates don't need to know every little thing about her after all.

As she walked downstairs, she noticed her friends Mina and Hagakure sitting on the couch while watching an American tv show, "Pretty Little Liars."

Ochako tried her best to avoid them, as she was not in the mood of talking to anyone at the moment. But unfortunately for her, Mina already spotted her.

"'Chako babes! Where are you going? Are you going to get some mochi or something?" Mina said with a curious expression.

Ochako stopped a few feet away from the door. Sighing, she turned her head towards the direction her friends were at. Both of them were already looking at her, waiting for her response.

She forced herself to make a smile. "Nah, I just want to walk outside for a bit. Need to clear my head before tomorrow arrives."

Knowing what she meant, Mina and Hagakure nodded their heads.

"Stay safe, Ochako!" Hagakure said.

"I will, I promise," Ochako replied with a small, genuine smile on her face.

---

They were meeting at a park nearby Ochako's home.

Sure, it may be dangerous for one of the most wanted villains of Japan to know her whereabouts, but Ochako doesn't care. She's not meeting a devil, she's meeting Himiko Toga.

By the time she arrives, she noticed Himiko has yet to arrive. Feeling a little down due to her absence, Ochako sat down on a swing and waited for her lover to arrive.

I wonder how she's feeling now, Ochako thought.

3 minutes later, Himiko has too arrived with a small bag she is holding. She's wearing a black hoodie, sweatpants, and sneakers, followed with a black mask. On a "normal" day, she would've worn an outfit that is more colorful. But a war waits for them tomorrow, and so she tries to remain as discreet as possible from the public.

Ochako got up from the swing and ran towards Himiko, abandoning her bag.

She hugged her as tightly as she could, and Himiko does the same.

"Hi Mimi," Ochako softly whispered by Himiko's ear.

"Hi Ochako," Himiko said in a gentle tone.

Ochako then let go of her, placed her cool hands on Himiko's cheeks (leaving her pinkies out), closed her eyes and kissed her forehead.

When she opened her eyes, she found Himiko looking at her fondly. Her cheeks are pink, and she smiled at her sweetly.

Ochako smiled back and calmly grabbed her hand, lacing their fingers together. "C'mon, let's sit down for a bit on the swing."

They sat down on the swings Ochako left her bag at. Ochako took out her flip phone and played a song while the two began to swing back and forth.

"Ochako. What do you think would happen after we fight?" Himiko said suddenly. Her voice sound melancholic.

Ochako looked at her face and saw her looking at the sky with a wistful look. She paused the music.

"Well, I know we won't be in touch for a while. But we'll reunite someday; I'm sure of it."

"And if I die then what?"

"You won't," Ochako responded, "I promise you, you won't."

Himiko then stared at her, scrutinizing whatever she noticed on her face.

Ochako tried to remain calm as much as she can. But the more reality settled in her mind, the more her calmness crumbled.

"Ochako, before I met you, I thought that I was impossible to be romantically loved. All my life I've been chasing that feeling. I want to be adored, I want to be similar to my lover, I want to know all the things they like and copy them... I want everything that I could possibly receive. And I thought I couldn't receive it. The boy I had a crush on at my old school showed me proof of that.

"So, I fantasized a world where I could freely express myself. A world where I found a lover that wouldn't mind me drinking their blood. We always had fun, eat lot of sweets, hold hands all the time, and never got bored of each other. They never left me and accepted me for who I am, and I enjoyed that.

"I never stopped dreaming of a world like that. My hope was stronger than the pain and emptiness I felt for years. Touya and Atsuhiro teased me about that. They called me crazy and delusional, but I still hanged on to it. And I'm glad I did, because I've been blessed to meet you. Ever since I met you, my dream slowly became real."

Himiko smiled brightly, her eyes were full of life.

She continued to swing back and forth, gazing at the sky once again. "You showed me a world where it was possible that I could be romantically loved."

"Loving you is as easy as breathing, Himiko."

Himiko swiftly turned her head and looked at her in astonishment, her eyes widening.

Ochako's eyes were already on her, looking at her adoringly. "I never thought it was tough to love you. I'm surprised you believe that you're unlovable."

Himiko blinked at her. "You think I'm lovable?"

Ochako giggled, saying "I know you're lovable."

Himiko openly teared up and sniffed, laughing in happiness. Ochako is pleased to hear her laughter, since she was feeling blue just a moment ago.

At that moment Ochako remembered the gift she's supposed to give to Himiko.

The gift! Dang, I almost forgot, Ochako's eyes widen as she grabbed her bag.

Himiko looked at her confused and tilted her head a bit. "Ochako, what's up?"

Ochako nervously looked down at her shoes, blushing a bit. "I, um, have something to give to you."

Curiously, Himiko shifted closely towards Ochako.

Ochako looked up and quickly said, "But you have to close your eyes! I want this to be a total surprise for you."

Himiko's expression shifted to cheeriness and complied. She opened her hands for her gift to be placed there.

"Okay I'm ready!" she said with her voice a bit high pitched.

Ochako did a quick look on Himiko's face to make sure her eyes are fully closed. Once she confirmed, she took a quick breath, unzipped her bag, and took out a gift.

It was a small box, wrapped with dark red colored gift paper.

She gently placed on top of Himiko's hands and said, "You can open your eyes now."

Himiko immediately opened her eyes, buzzing with wonder and excitement on what her girlfriend had gifted her.

She looked up at the sky playfully and pondered, "Hmm... is it a small jar of your blood? A bracelet? Oh! Is it a ring? Or what if it's a -"

"You'll know if you unwrap your gift, y'know?" Ochako teased.

Himiko grinned, "If you say so!"

She ripped the red wrapper and saw a black squared box.

She looked at Ochako and back at the box curiously.

Ochako nudged her elbow, encouraging her to open the box.

Himiko opened it and saw a beautiful necklace laid inside, waiting to be worn by her.

It was a silver necklace with a small knife pendant in the center. The knife looks exactly like Himiko's knife; however, the color of the handle is blood red, and the blade is engraved with the words "Together forever" in the front, "H & O" in the back.

Ochako designed the necklace a week ago, and asked Yaomomo to make it for her.

Yaomomo looked at the design in awe and questioned her, "Who's this for?"

Ochako answered, "It's a secret."

Himiko slowly turned her head towards Ochako, a mixture of shock and delight painted her face.

She quickly closed the box and hopped off her swing, jumping in glee while holding it.

"You got me a necklace?! You got me a necklace! With my knife oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh! " She shouted.

She laughed as she jumped all over the park. Ochako remained seated on the swing, pulled out her flip phone and took a picture of Himiko, savoring a moment that can never be replicated.

Himiko ran towards her and pulled her up by her hand and held onto it while she's holding her gift with the other hand. "I can't believe you got me a pretty necklace! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She squealed.

Ochako beamed as a response and asked, "Can I put the necklace on for you?"

Himiko quickly nodded, gave her the box and turned around.

Since there's little people around the park and Himiko is still wearing her black mask, Ochako pulled her hoodie back, revealing blonde hair that is in two messy buns.

Cute, Ochako thought as she took out the necklace and began placing it around Himiko's neck.

"Since I was little, I've always wanted to make a difference in this world. When I saw a hero saving other people, making them smile, I thought to myself that I want to do that too. I want to save people, I want to make people smile, I want to make my parents feel proud of me. And so, I made it a goal for me to accomplish. A goal for me to become a hero."

Ochako clasped the necklace on but didn't let go of it and continued to speak.

"When I got into U.A I was so happy. It felt like the beginning of achieving my goal. I've made great friends, made good memories, and things were starting to look up for me. The future looked so bright. All I have to is save people, and it seemed so simple to me. Until I met you."

Ochako took a deep breath and waited for Himiko to say something. She remained silent, and so Ochako continued.

"When I met you the first time, I was confused when you asked me if I wanted to be exactly like my crush. You went on about how you love to drink other people's blood, wanting to embody them... it didn't make sense to me. The second time I met you, you told me that your quirk manifested. I was perplexed when you said you enjoyed killing that woman. At the time, I was confused as to why you are the way you are. And then I realized it was because I didn't know who you are. So, I made a new goal that day. A goal for me to know who Himiko Toga is.

"That's why I went out to search for you. I wanted to know who you are, what your favorite color is, your favorite food. I wanted to talk about love with you, and why you love romance so much. And I don't regret seeking you out, because you made me understand the definition of love. Because of you, I've experienced the happiest days of my life. I never laughed as much as I do whenever I'm around you, Mimi."

Ochako then turned Himiko around and grasped her hands, holding them firmly.

She looked at her straight in the eyes and kept her voice steady. "Never once have I ever regretted spending my time with you. Never once have I ever struggled to love and adore you. You are the sun that brightens my day. You opened up my point of view of this world and made me feel sure of myself. Because of you, I am now 100% sure that I want to spend the rest of my life making a difference in this world, and I want you to be by my side. Forever and always, Himiko."

Himiko was already crying before Ochako finished speaking. But she kept on looking at her, not wanting to miss a single moment of her speaking with such admiration.

"I'm the sun of your world?"

"You make me shine, Himiko, and I feel it every day."

Himiko broke down in tears and hugged Ochako tightly, burying her head on her shoulder.

"I would... love... to be by your side," she said while hiccupping as she cried.

Ochako hugged her back, silently crying along with her. "It would be an honor."

They stay like that for a few minutes until Himiko calms down. Himiko pulled away from Ochako and wiped the tears away from her cheeks.

Ochako does the same and smiles at her wetly.

Himiko looks up at the sky and noticed that the sun is almost gone. "Ochako. I also want to give you something before I go."

Himiko looks back down at the swing she got up from, where the small bag that contains a small gift for Ochako lays on.

She grabs the small bag and hands it to Ochako. "A gift from me to you. I hope you like it." She said while the color red blooms on her cheeks.

Ochako looks at the bag with joy and took out a box that had Hello Kitty on it.

Ochako knew that Himiko loves Hello Kitty, and Ochako had grown more interested in Hello Kitty as a result.

When she opened the box, she saw a pink Hello Kitty watch inside of it. She saw letters charms O and U on it as well.

Himiko blushed even harder. "It's for you to keep up with the time whenever you're busy doing work! You said your favorite color is pink, so I thought to myself, 'How about I give her a watch?'. And then I got a Hello Kitty watch at a store with Tomura's money."

Ochako stared at her and tried to hold back her tears. She didn't want Himiko to remember crying on their last meeting, damn it!

"Can you put it on for me please?" She asked with a shaky voice.

Himiko nodded enthusiastically, "Yes!"

Himiko took the watch out of the box and placed it around Ochako's left wrist since Ochako is right-handed. She made sure it didn't fit loosely or tightly, just right.

Once she finished, Himiko attempted to step back but Ochako pulled her in for another hug, dropping the box to the ground.

"I love it Himiko. Thank you." Ochako said with gratitude.

"I'm happy that you love it!" Himiko laughed out.

Ochako pulled back a bit, held Himiko's hands, and gently kissed her on the lips.

Himiko wasn't surprised by that and gladly kissed her back with the same amount of gentleness.

Himiko breaks their kiss and looks at her with sorrow. "I have to go Ochako."

Ochako still held onto her hands. The tears she attempted to hold back is now streaming down to her cheeks. "I don't wanna let you go."

Himiko then said with an affectionate look, "I did say I would love to be by your side, didn't I?"

She released Ochako's hands and slowly walks backwards from her.

"I will never forget you, Ochako Uraraka," Himiko said whilst smiling.

Ochako wiped away the tears that were blurring her vision.

"I will never forget you, Himiko Toga."

Decades after the final war, Himiko remained by Ochako's side as she continues to make a difference across the world. Ochako can't see her, but she can feel her presence, and she's okay with that.

Notes:

Reading chapter 395 and writing the last sentence of this fic makes me want to burst into tears (I'm trying to hold them back).
