Work Text:

“I would take a shit wit’ ya in the room, ya know.” It was rare for Osamu to be drunk. Typically, he was the epitome of composure and control. Typically, it was Atsumu making a fool of himself, but now it’s Osamu who is flushed and stumbling and slurring and making a fool of himself.

Atsumu gives his brother a blank stare from his place by the sink. They had gone to the disgusting bar bathroom together because Osamu was too fucked-up to be trusted alone and Atsumu is nothing but a good, doting brother. He regrets it now because Osamu is sitting on the toilet to piss, too unbalanced and uncoordinated to stand and aim and piss all at once.

“Yer not shitting now, are ya? Because I told Kita-san we would be back in just a few and he’ll worry if we're gone too long.”

Osamu gives Atsumu a startled look, “ ‘course I’m not taking a shit!”

To prove his point, he stands and restless his underwear and pants up his thighs, but struggles for a second to zip himself. He talks as he does this, explaining his thought process to his brother, “I was jus’ thinkin’ that there aren’t a lot of people I would shit in fron’ of. You, obviously because yer my brother and I’m sure we’ve shit in front of each other before. Ma ‘cause she’s ma.”

Atsumu nudges his brother towards the sink to encourage him to wash his hands, only half listening to his brother's ranting.

“But ya know who else I would shit in fron’ of? Rin. I think I could shit in front of Rin if I had to. I’m jus’ comfortable with ‘im like that.” Osamu pauses and looks up at Astumu through the bathroom mirror, who is looking back with a blank stare.

“Yer sayin’ that… ya would shit in front of Sunarin?” Atsumu’s voice is filled with amusement, and he wishes he could record this conversation for future blackmail material. It’s rare for his brother to be so blatantly… stupid.

Osamu looks at Atsumu appalled, as if he didn’t just repeat what he had just said, “I wouldn’ want ta, just, ya know, if I had ta, I could do it.”

“ ‘cause yer comfortable ‘round ‘im?”

Osamu nods, he waves his wet hand in front of the paper towel dispenser, no towels come out so he wipes his wet hands on his pants, leaving handprints on his thighs. Atsumu doesn’t tell him it was a push paper towel dispenser. Instead he says, “So what, yer in love with ‘im then?”

Osamu turns around and looks at his brother with big round eyes, “Is that what it is?”

“Are ya coming out to me right now, lil bro?” Atsumu responds with a laugh on the edge of his voice, he places a hand on his twins shoulder and says with mockery, “I’ve known ya had a thing for Suna since he transferred to our school two years ago.”

Osamu blushes, frowns, and pushes his brothers hand off his shoulder only to stumble backwards a little, tripping over his own feet. “So should I tell ‘im?”

“Yeah, tell ‘im that ya would take a shit in front of him. He’ll get it.”

Osamu purses his lips, even to his alcohol muddled mind that doesn’t sound like a good idea, but Suna is just outside those bathroom doors, sitting in the little booth of their karaoke room. His heart pitters in his chest at the thought of getting it out in the open. How would Suna respond? Would he tell Osamu he liked him back? Would Osamu even remember any of this in the morning.

“I’ll wait.” Osamu says with the determination of a child, “I’ll tell ‘im tomorrow.”

“Okay,” his brother says, “I’ll hold you to it.”

They stumble out of the bathroom, there is a small line in front of the door and a drunk man at the front of the line curses at them both with a slur. They both shrug it off, and make their way through a hallway of soundproof karaoke rooms to their reserved one. When they walk in, Aran and Gin are drunkenly singing to the intro song of some obscure anime they both watch. Suna is in the far corner, an asian flush of his own coloring his cheeks, grinning at his phone which is aimed at the boys in the font. Osamu immediately makes his way towards him, butAtsumu stays towards the door to watch with an amused smile.

“I was about to come look for you,” Kita says. He must be the only sober one here, “what took so long?”

Atsumu shrugged, “brotherly heart-to-heart.”

Kita looks at Osamu, he is sitting flush against Suna now, looking down at the phone in Suna’s lap and laughing. Kita nods, nothing else said.
