Sejanus didn't even know what he was asking for. For protection? To be saved? To manage to escape? Or maybe to die? He was asking for anything, anything that would make him not find him.
♡
Sejanus's vision was still too blurry to see that Coriolanus removed his hands from his neck only to lean in and bury his face there. He felt Coriolanus's breath on his neck. Felt his lips against the skin he had just squeezed.
And felt Coriolanus's teeth breaking his skin.
Sejanus barely had a voice to scream, but still, he screamed, and his scream must have echoed throughout the forest.
[…]
"There. Now you have no way to escape."
♡
But there was something about this Coriolanus Snow that wasn't in Sejanus' memory fragments: Coriolanus, for some reason, gave him shivers every time he observed him when he thought Sejanus wasn't looking.
♡
Sejanus, on the other hand, felt like a study object being analyzed, no matter how much he tried to divert any more important questions that Coriolanus asked. [...] so uncomfortable, so watched, so...
Hunted.
♡
but Coriolanus's hands held his face like claws.
Sejanus felt devoured, piece by piece.
♡
Coriolanus was still there, sitting in the same position, except this time there were shards of glass on the table. His hand was bleeding. And his blue eyes once again met Sejanus's brown eyes directly.
♡
There was the same reaction that had become an old friend to Sejanus: a racing heart, cold sweat starting to run down his forehead, trembling hands.
♡
This time, Sejanus managed to read Coriolanus's expression. He could identify that, the twisted corner of his mouth, the narrowed eyes, although he couldn't name a human expression for that feeling, but it was the same as Sejanus saw in animals in the forest when they lost prey.
♡
"[…] Ah, and you had a friend, didn't you? Your best friend. Marcus... I can't remember his last name now. And he was reaped for the Hunger Games some years ago. Too bad, really. The only thing I'm not sure I can say I know about you is: was that the reason you tried to take your own life?"
♡
"Since I got here, all I've been doing is trying to please you. I've done nothing but been nice to you and these savage people around you. And what do you do?! You act like an ingrate. You act like it's not a privilege for someone like me to even be interested in someone as pathetic as you,"
♡
"Do you think you can get away from me, is that it?! Now, you tell me: what the fuck is your problem?”
♡
With the gun pointed at his head, Coriolanus pulled Sejanus by the collar of his clothes, kissing him once more with the same hunger, the same voracity as last time. And finally, when he was out of breath, Coriolanus pulled away. Tears were streaming down Sejanus' freckled face. He brought his free hand to his face, wiping his tears with a casualness that bordered on brutal, and approached again, kissing his mouth with a contradictory gentleness, murmuring against his trembling lips:
"It's okay. You can make mistakes once in a while. It's not like I expect people like you to be very smart anyway. It's okay, as long as you understand that you're mine.”
