Work Text:

Wolf walked through the lively streets of Las Vistas. What used to be ruins of an old town had turned into a thriving city where humans and mutes lived together in harmony.

Wolf had a large smile on her face, one that rarely was wiped off nowadays. Kipo's happiness had rubbed off on her.

Wolf's body was filled with nostalgia as her eyes wandered over the houses and streets where she had grown up.

She remembered being five years old and recently abandoned by the pack of wolves that she'd seen as her family. She remembered sneaking around empty buildings in search for anything edible, hiding from mutants that despised her only for being born a human.

She remembered dragging her bruised body from one side of the city to another after a long day of fighting and running. She knew Las Vistas like the back of her hand. She'd forced herself to remember every hole and crevice since she was barely more than a toddler in an attempt to survive. And survive she did.

She survived long enough to run into a burrow girl who was too kind and curious for her own good. The two of them grew a bond stronger than blood, which led to Wolf finding her family.

She was staying with Kipo and her parents now, and they had shown her the meaning of unconditional love. Something that Wolf had always lacked but now could never live without.

The streets of Las Vistas reminded her of her horrific past and the pain that it brought, but also her growth throughout the years and her path to finding a place where she could settle down and just live.

She didn't have to live in the past anymore. She could let it all go and be free. Free from the memories.
