This Love

Summary:

What would you do when you find out that the love of your life has fallen out of love for you? Without any reason.

And what would you do when the love that you feel after all this time is slowly but surely disappearing?

Notes:

This is my first attempt at exploring the feelings that come with falling out of love. English isn't my first language, but I'm trying to understand it better. Hope you like it! Enjoy~

Edited : I made some changes a bit from the original characters to the Genshin Impact characters. Because I just felt like it.

Chapter 1: What is this feeling?

Chapter Text

The streets were filled with the sounds of bustling activity near Alhaitham's workplace, where he was engrossed in capturing moments with his camera. He was currently conducting a phophoto shoot on a talented emerging singer, Jason Lee.

As a freelance photographer, Alhaitham appreciated the freedom of working independently without being tied to a specific company. He relished the ability to make all the decisions without being influenced by others.

"Could you tilt your head to the side a bit?" Alhaitham politely asked the singer, Jason.

"Of course," replied Jason. The photo shoot continued until evening, and everyone started preparing to pack up and head home.

"Great job, everyone. Thanks for your cooperation today. If you need me, just give me a call. I'm always available," Alhaitham joked with his colleagues, who shook their heads in amusement. "Bye, everyone!"

As he made his way to his car, Alhaitham called his husband, Kaveh. After a few rings, he heard Kaveh's sweet yet rough voice on the other end. "Hey, babe!"

"Hey, honey! I just finished my job and I'm on the way home. I need to pick up some groceries. What do you want for dinner?" Alhaitham asked.

"Hmm, I'm in the mood for spaghetti. And some ice cream, too. Can you get that for me?" Kaveh requested.

"Sure thing. Anything for you," Alhaitham chuckled. "I'm heading out now. Text me when you get home."

"Okay, bye. Love you," said Kaveh lovingly.

After bidding farewell to Kaveh, Alhaitham went straight to the supermarket to pick up some groceries. Later, Alhaitham went to the kitchen in their home to prepare dinner. As he was cooking, his mind drifted away, burdened by a sense of despair.

He tried to comprehend what was troubling him. Was it his mind and heart playing tricks on him?

Shaking off these thoughts, he continued cooking and freshened up while waiting for Kaveh.

Shortly after, Kaveh arrived home and found Alhaitham setting the table. "I'm home!"

"Welcome back!" Alhaitham made his way to Kaveh and embraced him tightly, as if not wanting to let go, though his heart felt heavy.

"Coming home to a warm and welcoming hug is always the best thing ever," Kaveh said as he hugged his husband.

Resting his head on Kaveh's shoulder to conceal his feelings, Alhaitham murmured, "Yeah."

"Let's eat now. Then we can watch TV later," Alhaitham suggested.

"Sure, and I'm off tomorrow, so we can spend our time together. Maybe we could go on a date?" Kaveh proposed.

"Yeah, we can discuss it later when we watch TV together," Alhaitham responded.

"Okay, okay. Let's eat. I can't wait to taste your famous spaghetti!" Kaveh laughed.

After dinner, they settled in to watch a movie together. Alhaitham snuggled up with Kaveh on the sofa, enjoying the feeling of Kaveh's hand running through his soft hair.

"What do you want to do tomorrow?" Kaveh asked softly.

Looking up at Kaveh from his chest, Alhaitham replied, "Maybe we could just relax at home and spend time together? We could play video games too."

Alhaitham had been feeling this way for the past month, trying to ignore it. But as the days passed, it only grew stronger. He was searching for an answer as to why he felt this way.

Pouting, Kaveh looked down at him and said, "Don't you want to go on a date? It's been so long since we went out. We've been so busy, and I want to spend time with you."

"We can spend time together at home. I just don't feel like going out," sighed Alhaitham.

Kaveh continued to pout, feeling a bit disappointed. He sensed that Alhaitham was avoiding him for some reason. Unable to pinpoint the exact reason, he pushed aside those thoughts, understanding that Alhaitham preferred staying at home.

"Aww, I'm sorry. Please don't be sad. I'm just tired from work and want to rest at home. How about we plan something for next week?" Alhaitham pleaded, holding Kaveh's face in his hands to meet his eyes.

Sighing, Kaveh wanted to discuss it further but decided to let it go. Perhaps they could make it up next time. "Alright. We can have a date next week. I'll make it special!"

Alhaitham chuckled at Kaveh's playful behaviour and showered him with kisses. "Yeah, we can go wherever you want."
