Work Text:
It’s lonely at the top they say, and those saying it, would right much to my own dismay
As here I sit on the highest of tops on Coruscant, all by my lonesome self, never to be helped
But yeah, I don’t really ask for much, never felt the need for trinkets, belongings, things and such
Only two things keeping me sane in this world of much hurt and pain
Alas none of those worldly pleasures which a weaker man would make dance and sing
If you were to pass me by while I dwell in this grind, while I wallow here in this daily sorrow
Well, you’d be a better person than I certainly am or perhaps ever will be, maybe, perhaps…
But also know that my eternal gratitude would you forever follow, if…
Here is the point:
I might have said nothing worldly nor any kind of pleasure will keep me sedated…
Well, I lied, surprise!
Cause I wasn’t totally honest with that statement
So, if you’d happen upon a cup of the strongest, blackest of cafs
And a packet of cigarettes, the brand non consequential, as a given fact…
Well…
All that matters is a simple cup of caf here and there every now and again on this, forsaken sphere
Which I keep on serving until I can’t no more, sorry for the bore!
But yeah, a cup of caf and a tall cigarette is all I dare to ask for now
Is that really so much?
To enjoy these simple things, before the curtain calls and I take my final bow?
