Summary
Before he can be invited back to Downton on New Year’s Eve, Thomas finds that he was made the heir to his great uncle’s fortune—a great uncle he didn’t even really know he had. With his newfound freedom, he reaches out to Jimmy, who is all too happy to take advantage of the opportunity to get out of the latest doss-house.
In exchange for staying at the house, Jimmy helps Thomas sort through Great Uncle Barrow’s worldly belongings and personal effects. But the years of journals and letters left behind prove too tempting for Jimmy, who learns a bit more about Great Uncle Barrow—and himself—than he bargained for.
In essence, what if Thomas didn’t come back to Downton and reunited with Jimmy instead (while having the money to provide a place for him to stay…and a roundabout method of helping him discover himself)?
