Chapter Text
Long ago, there was a boy who wanted nothing more than to make people smile. He’d wished to be an entertainer, like his father. But no matter how hard he tried, things would always go wrong.
It had started when Yuya was younger. Certain… problems would follow him. Even when real solid vision wasn’t being used, it was like the people he dueled would actually get hurt.
Needless to say, he was creating more fear than smiles.
But he still tried.
For years and years, he kept trying. Because he wouldn’t give up on making people happy.
Ever.

“You got suspended again? ”
“Hey, it’s not my fault! I didn’t do anything! Besides, it could’ve been worse.”
Yuzu sighed, “Yuya, I saw what happened. That wasn’t nothing.”
“Yes it was-! Besides, why do I even need school anyway? Y-“
“The duel school isn’t a substitute for actual education, Yuya! It’s for dueling!!”
“Yeah, and what else do I need to know?”
“It’s more about being able to get a job… oh, we’re here!”
“Oh yeah-! We’re not late this time!!”
“Please try not to hurt anyone. We don’t have time to settle that kind of-”
“I know!!” yelled Yuya, running off.
-
Everyone was smiling. They were all smiling and Yuya loved it. He was making them happy, if just for this moment. Anything to make the people happy.
“Go, Odd-Eyes!”
CRASH-!
An intense blast was let off as odd-eyes roared, sending his opponent flying into a wall.
Yuya stepped back in terror, everything silent.
“No… no… ARE YOU OKAY?!?”
He could see his opponent was still mostly alright. Thank goodness… the crowd let out an uneasy cheer. They probably thought it was part of the Real Solid Vision… nobody actually got hurt…
Yuya ran off before people could realize what happened.
-
“Hey, at least he’s alright…”
“Yuzu, you don’t get it! I can’t control this! No matter what I do people always get hurt! There’s no way I can be an entertainer like that-!!”
Yuzu placed her hands on his shoulders.
“Yuya. You’ll be fine. You were doing great for the most part. It’ll just take some time to learn how to hold back. Maybe we should try and look into why this is happening?”
“We’ve tried! We haven’t found anything!!! ” Yuya sat on his bed, sulking, “maybe there’s just something wrong with me.”
“Theres nothing wrong with you. None of this is your fault, Yuya. Do you think I would’ve stayed with you so long if I thought you were a bad person?”
“No…”
“That’s right,” said Yuzu, hugging her friend tightly, “I’ll always be here with you, okay? We’ll figure this out together.”
“Okay… you promise?”
“Yeah, of course I do! Things will be just fine as long as we’re here to help each other out, right?”
Yuya smiled.
“Yeah.”
