Drunk on love (and alcohol)

Summary:

Lee Chan professes his love for Boo Seungkwan at karaoke.

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Chan leaves where he’s cuddled up next to Seungkwan, stepping up shakily to the karaoke station. He’s typing in something.

Seungkwan doesn’t recognise the instrumental, and he’s not sure Chan does either.

“This is my song. For Seungkwanie!” Chan seems incredibly confident about this and wait—

“What are you—“

Chan puts up a singular finger to silence Seungkwan, and Soonyoung is cheering obnoxiously.

“Seungkwan-ah~”

“Oh god..” Seungkwan can barely look. His cheeks burn, hands gripping at the leather of the couch.

“I love ya~”

The cheers yell out around them. Seokmin is slapping at his arm, squealing.

“Wanna be with you forever—“ Seungkwan puts his hand up to his forehead, moving it quickly down to his mouth. Chan is performing to the whole room, but he keeps looking at Seungkwan as he says his lines. “Til I diee .”

“Til I die!” Soonyoung cheers along.

The song continues, professions of love getting more and more til Seungkwan is curled up in a ball, crimson blush painted across his face. The cheering along has gotten louder and louder, his friend’s eyes going between him and Chan.

As the instrumental comes to an end, Chan steps closer to Seungkwan, grabbing onto his hand. He starts talking in that low sultry tone of his.

“You’re my moon and sun. My Boo Seungkwan.” Chan finishes, bringing the hand he’s holding up to his mouth for a sweet kiss. His eyes still look into Seungkwan’s, in a gaze that would look far more sincere and romantic in any other situation.

The room erupts in squeals— both cheering and cringing— or both, and applause. Seungkwan is a hundred percent sure his face is bright red. A thousand percent sure. He can feel the heat on his cheeks.

“That slant rhyme, wow.” Minghao drawls, and Seokmin starts laughing in that loud way of his. Mingyu had clearly fallen to his knees at some point during the song because he’s still on them, eyes shining with tears of laughter.

Soonyoung bounces up from the chair, hands on the back of Chan’s shoulders.

“Alright Kwan, take your boyfriend home.” He pushes Chan into Seungkwan’s arms, grinning.

“I don’t need to be taken home, i’m fine —“

“Channie, you’re so drunk.” Seungkwan cuts his boyfriend off, carefully standing up with the other boy’s weight leaned on him.

“Not even.. Just a bit tipsy”

Seungkwan squints. It’s not like he’s totally sober either, but compared to Chan it’s as if he’s never had a drop of alcohol in his life.

“Tell me that when you can stand up straight.”

“I can!” Chan retorts, grabbing onto Seungkwan’s waist to steady himself.

He’s still giggling. Seungkwan wonders how Chan even tries to make the case that he’s not actually drunk every single time they go out.

Seungkwan sighs, rearranges Chan so he’s leaning onto Seungkwan’s side and calls up a taxi.

☀️

Somehow they make it to their shared apartment.

Chan naps on his shoulder in the taxi and seemingly has regained a lot of his consciousness, able to pretty much walk to their apartment and get ready for bed.

They grow quiet as they follow routine, brushing their teeth next to each other and dressing for bed.

Chan tugs at his hand to lay down, situating them on the bed so his arms link around Seungkwan’s waist, holding him close. Seungkwan can see the drowsiness in his eyes.

“I just love you so much” Chan mumbles, giggling. Seungkwan chuckles and Chan giggles more.

“I love you too. Let’s go to bed.”

“Mm. Wanna be with you forever..” Seungkwan’s heart clenches, watching Chan nuzzle into his chest like a cat. Oh.

“Me too, Channie.”

“Will..” Chan trails off then, mouth opening in a big yawn before he drifts off to sleep.

The messiness of Chan’s hair tickles at Seungkwan’s jaw. He looks so very peaceful, mouth open slightly and cheek pressed into the junction between his chest and shoulder.

He wonders if this is what it feels like to have fireworks in your chest, looking at his boyfriend nestled so sweetly against him.

Seungkwan kisses the top of Chan’s head before closing his eyes, letting his breathing even out with Chan’s.

☀️

Seungkwan wakes up to the sheets next to him tousled, and exactly the scene he expects— spicy noodles— coupled with Chan at the table.

Quintessentially hungover Chan.

“Oh my god.” Chan’s hand is over his mouth, eyes wide as he looks at his phone. Seungkwan comes over, putting an arm around Chan’s shoulders to look at his screen.

It’s a shaky video of Chan’s impromptu song. Clearly taken by Mingyu.

“You’re so cheesy.” Seungkwan pokes at Chan’s cheek, laughing.

Chan doesn’t reply, still clearly captivated by his performance.

The lyrics grow in their cheesiness and become bigger and further professions of love. Seungkwan giggles at Chan’s reddening ears.

As the video ends and raucous applause cuts out, Chan leans his head back onto Seungkwan’s arm.

His expression changed, from embarrassed to almost solemn. Eyes fully open and mouth set into a soft smile.

“I mean it, though. What I sung.”

Seungkwan still gets caught off guard by Chan’s sincerity sometimes, even though his boyfriend has always been like that. Chan is the kind of sincere that most people find embarrassing to be nearly all of the time.

It’s incredibly endearing. Something Seungkwan likes a lot about him.

“You make everything so sentimental.” Seungkwan says in disbelief, warm smile bunching up his cheeks.

Notes:

This is an idea I had from Chan’s Nana Tour performances.

I am going to try finish something a bit longer soon, but I wanted to revive the Boochan tag a little…
