Work Text:
Peter was panicking.
He had multiple school assignments due the next day, most of which he hadn’t had the chance to really start. Either the teachers aren’t checking on others' school schedules or they decided that it was a great idea to make four assignments due on the same day. The worst part of it was one of the assignments was a group project, which he had already done his part for! The three others who were supposed to be working with him hadn’t done any work other than one shitty slide that barely even met the requirements the teacher had asked for. That assignment was for his history class. He also had his own slideshow he had to finish for physics, an essay for English, and an entire packet of precalculus problems. Usually this wouldn't be much of an issue, he had grown used to being in a rush to finish things due to his more spidery activity. But this time it was different. He had gone on two long, rough patrols the previous nights and it was already almost 10 PM.
He was staying at the tower that night because Tony had been doing repairs on his suit and Pepper had insisted on him staying. He couldn’t exactly pass up the offer, and they always were able to keep up with his high metabolism when they ordered food. Saying as they also fed the Avengers, multiple of which also have a fast metabolism (never quite as fast as his.) After he ate dinner with them FRIDAY had led him to the guest room, where he was now panicking over school assignments. This was just great…
“Should i call Mr. Stark. you appear to be quite frantic, Peter.”
“There's no need for that FRIDAY, I don't want to bother him.”
FRIDAY had tried to insist that he definitely wasn’t bothering Tony but he ignored her and went back to work. He was doing his precalc work first, it would be the easiest to get out of the way. He was about half way through it already, he didn’t need to bother Mr. Stark with measly things like an eleventh graders homework. It was 10:45 PM when he finished with the precalculus homework, promptly shoving it in his backpack and turning back to his desk. One down, three to go. He looked over what was left, the personal physics slideshow would be the easiest. He continued where he left off, he had already done three slides. He needed to do twelfth more. He was on the eighth when the exhaustion kicked in, he had seen it coming and tried to rush his work but it seemed he wasn’t working fast enough. He had gotten barely any sleep the past two days and was now trying to push his luck. He pushed himself up from his desk and left his room, heading for the kitchen.
Luckily the room was empty, he headed for the fridge. Which had a generous amount of energy drinks, thanks to who he could only guess was Mr. Stark. He quickly grabbed one and scurried back to the guest room he was occupying. Once he was back at his desk he quickly downed the energy drink and went back to work. He quickly wrapped up the fifteen slide presentation, leaning back in his chair and sighing. Two down, two to go. He knew he should work on the group project next, it being the most work. But holy shit he could not bring himself to. So he opened a new document and grabbed his notebook to skim the notes for his English essay. He was barely two paragraphs in when the exhaustion from before kicked in, only this time it was about ten times worse. He sighed and stood up to go grab another energy drink but was quickly interrupted as his vision swam and he stumbled. Promptly passing out
well fuck, i didn’t finish my work…

All the present Avengers (and Pepper) were sitting in one of the meeting rooms (living rooms) and discussing important matters (who would win a popularity poll, which mostly considered of Tony and Steve arguing)
“I am so obviously the most popular one Capsicle”
“I seriously doubt that saying I was the first superhero, you’re not even super!
Tony gasped dramatically, clutching at his chest. “I’ll have you know I take full offense to that!”
“Yeah? Well that's too ba-”
”excuse the interruption but there is a problem relating to Peter.”
FRIDAY’s message made both Tony and Steve shut up, as well as making all the others in the room snap their necks up to the ceiling.
“What's wrong with Peter?!” Pepper asked, concerned about lacing her words.
”he has passed out from exhaustion while working on school related issues.”
It was clear that that was all she needed to say as everybody abruptly stood up and made their ways to the elevators, some faster than others. The ones in the lead being Tony, Pepper, Natasha, and Bucky. Tony seemed to be impatient as the elevator brought them down, even if it was a two floor trip. He basically sprinted out of the elevators that second the doors opened, Clint tried to suppress a laugh, clearly failing.
Tony found Peter laying on the floor's carpet, clearly having fallen when he stood up from his desk. His hair was disheveled and his eye bags were dark. Looking over to his desk showed his laptop, notebook, and an empty energy can.
“FRIDAY, and concerns?”
”other than sleep deprivation, no.”
Bucky enters the room, immediately walking over and crouching at Peter’s side checking over him. He must have evaluated that the boy was fine because his shoulders untensed a noticeable amount. He picked up the boy and placed him on the bed, pulling the blanket up to his chin and smoothing out his hair. Natasha and Pepper had also entered when Tony hadn’t noticed, the other had seemingly decided to stay outside the room. Natasha had approached the desk to look over everything.
“Multiple assignments due tomorrow, still have an essay and group project left to work on. It seems he already finished his part of the project, the others have not done their parts.”
Natasha’s face scrunched up as she finished her assessment of the situation, she obviously wasn’t happy with the uncompleted work on the other students' end that had caused this situation. She turned to the other three in the room, they seemed to have the same response.
“We need to let the kid sleep, grab his laptop and notebook.”
She did as Tony requested and all four of them left Peter’s room, Pepper only stopping to place a kiss on his forehead and turn off the lights. Bruce, Clint, and Steve were sitting in the living room that resided on the current floor talking about something between themselves. They turned to the other four when they walked out of the bedroom.
Clint asked the question that seemed to be on the other two’s minds “The kid ok?”
“Yes, just isn’t getting enough sleep.” Natasha supplied, plotting down on the couch next to Clint
Tony also collapsed on one of the couches, now carrying Peter’s laptop and notebook. He looked over the contents on the page and what Peter had left on the screen. Everyonce and a while flipping the pages of the notebook, eventually transitioning to focusing all his attention at the notebook and flipping through the pages with curiosity. There were a few pages of sketches, mostly of people but some others of flowers and scenery. All of those sketch pages were signed off by someone called ‘MJ’. There were a few other pages dedicated to lists of different movies, shows, comics, and lego sets. Those pages were signed by Peter and a person named Ned. and in the very start of the notebook there were pages that made the corners of Tony’s mouth quirk up, page after page of different spider sketches. The last page consisted of a few different ones, but was mostly taken up by a huge symbol in the middle of the book that Tony recognized as The symbol that rested on Spider-Man’s chest.
He flipped back to the assignment page and skimmed over them, he caught Barnes peering at them out of the corner of his eye and eventually passed the notebook over to the man.
“What are you guys looking at?” Bruce spoke up from his place on the couch.
“The kid passed out doing homework, we’re looking over the notes. They seem to be due tomorrow” Tony said absentmindedly as he typed on the kids english essay.
“And what part of looking over notes requires typing.” Clint asked in a teasing tone. Tony's hands stopped over the keyboard momentarily and looked up at the man with judgment.
“The kid was obviously stressed over this work, I'm not going to leave it unfinished just because he passed while doing it.” Tony went back to working on the essay infront of him
“I agree with Stark, he had quite a lot of work leftover. Is anyone else willing to assist with this?” Barnes asked, looking up to look over the other five present
Everyone nodded and went to retrieve the laptops, Clint muttering something about not wanting to work more. Bucky quickly shut him up with a glare. They all returned quickly, saying as their personal floors are all close together. Steve passed Bucky his computer that he had grabbed for the man and moved to sit next to him. Tony shared with them the history slideshow, saying that he would work on the english essay by himself.
“Damn! These kids really just threw Peter to the wolves..” Clint said in surprise as he looked at what was already done on the slideshow.
“Don’t worry, I will contact the school to ensure that only Peter gets credit for this.” Pepper said in her sickly sweet tone, Natasha snorted from beside her.
Tony worked on the english essay by himself, like he said he would. While everyone else who was working on the slide show moved to two couches that were next to each other. They went over their roles and what slides each of them did and got to work. It didn’t take long for them to finish it all when the work was divided between seven people. When they were done they sent both the slideshow and essay off to their respective teachers thanks to the notes in Peter’s notebook. Pepper moved on to emailing the history teacher about the other classmates' lack of work, happily closing her laptop once she was finished. They settled into the living room and turned on the TV, arguing about what show to put on and eventually settling on a comedy series only Clint had seen.
“Oh, you guys should see this.” all the others turned to Tony as he grabbed the notebook and flipped to a certain page. He put it down on the table on full display for everyone. A fond smile settled on everyone's face and Tony was pretty sure he could see Pepper’s eyes start to water.
Two full pages of sketches done by Peter. Consisting of everyone in this room, the rest of the Avengers, Maria Hills, a handful of Tony’s robots, Aunt May, and two other teenagers that Tony didn’t recognize. If he had to guess they were probably the ‘Ned’ and ‘MJ’ that signed other pages in the book.
They all continued watching the shitty show that Barton had picked out with smiles on their faces (apart from Barnes, who instead of a smile had a shine Tony had never seen before in his eyes)

The next morning Peter had woken up and immediately panicked about the school work he definitely didn’t. The panic was replaced with confusion when FRIDAY informed him that the others had finished his work for him. He decided to question them later when reminded that he did in fact have school today and was not ready.
He ended up getting an A in all of his assignments from the night before, as well as the others in his school project being failed. He didn’t know how the teacher knew they didn’t do any work but he saw a glint of amusement in Pepper’s eyes when he told her later that afternoon.
