Work Text:
The wolf-mom was livid. She'd expected for her children to be able to take down Mikayla easily. She'd spent the entire year training them for that exact moment, and they were failing. Mikayla was too strong for them.
The wolf-mom had trained the little human girl for far too long.
She watched as the human took down her husband, ripping his ear off with her teeth.
And then she turned to her.
The wolf-mom's heart jumped in her chest. The end was near. Her children were sprawled around her, she had nobody to protect her.
Mikayla pounced herself at the wolf-mom, knocking the both of them to the ground. They screamed and grunted as they fought, desperately trying to stay alive to see another day.
But Mikayla was stronger. And she knew that.
In a matter of seconds, she had the wolf-mom pinned to the ground. The wolf-mom looked into the eyes of the child she's raised. She no longer saw the happy, innocent little girl that was with her barely an hour ago. Instead, she saw a girl who'd been hurt beyond repair. Anger, sadness and utter betrayal colored the child's eyes.
The wolf-mom's breath hitched when Mikayla reached for a sharp rock only a couple inches away from them. She picked it up and held it high into the air, gritting her teeth as tears grew in her eyes.
The wolf-mom opened her mouth, but her words fell short as the rock collided with her head and knocked her out cold. Little did she know that she would never wake up again.
The wolf-mom didn't have many regrets, but one of them were that she didn't protect her children and help them succeed before the end.
