In the middle of a busy mall in Tokyo, a pink-haired content creator who introduced himself as Yuuji on social media was walking backwards while doing his typical opening. His assistant, who was a cameraman, was holding a camera in his hand trying to follow every movement Yuuji made.
“Look guys, isn’t that the CEO of the prestigious Gojo company, Gojo Satoru?” he said while pointing at a tall man with striking white hair who was walking with his back to them while carrying several shopping bags. The cameraman reluctantly pointed his camera lens in the direction he was pointing. With a wide smile he decided, “let’s make him the target of today’s challenge.”
"Excuse me, Gojo-san," Yuuji called as he stepped closer to the said man. The man in question turned around hearing his name being called. The man known as Gojo Satoru always wore sunglasses perched on his nose even in a closed room like this, no one knew the reason, at least publicly. His face immediately showed a look of recognition after seeing the face that called him. "Yuuji? and... Megumi? What are you guys doing here? And what's with that camera you're trying to operate like your life depends on it?" Gojo said with a vexing grin. The cameraman, or Megumi, just stared in annoyance, refraining from replying harshly considering that the camera was on. He didn't want to be the receiving end of Nobara's tantrum again because he added her editing burden.
“Gojo-san, we have a challenge for you!” Yuuji exclaimed excitedly. Gojo’s ears perked up at that and he immediately understood where this was going. “So you want to create content like the ones on Jujuview. Well, let’s hear about it,” Gojo replied with a confident grin. If there was one thing everyone knew about him, it was that he would never back down from a challenge thrown at him.
They pulled over to the side of a clothing store that looked like Yuuji's half a year’s salary as a content creator was just enough to buy a pair of clothes from there. That can be expected, considering that Yuuji is a content creator who is just starting out in the world of entertainment, in other words, a beginner. He has just uploaded 30 videos on his account regularly and has approximately 20,000 followers. Being able to buy a pair of luxurious clothes with half a year's salary without actually considering the possibility of increasing income even though he had just started his business was actually considered great. Not everyone can increase their account engagement this quickly.
"Gojo-san, I heard you're getting married soon, right?" Yuuji started after Megumi was ready to record the main point of their video this time.
"Yeah, we've been preparing everything for a long time and the appointed date is almost here,” Gojo responded with an unusual expression of fondness.
Who doesn't know Gojo Satoru, owner of the renowned company Gojo, the champion of various outstanding intelligence Olympiads. Titled as someone who can’t be inhibited, whatever he wants to do, no one can stop him. He, along with his partner who is now his fiancé, Geto Suguru, restored the glory of the Gojo company after it had fallen several years ago at a relatively young age. Their achievements to date are countless. Together, they are 'the strongest'.
“I will give you ¥10,000 if you dare to call your fiancé and tell him that you have found your true love and want to cancel your engagement with him.” Gojo was incredulous at the ridiculous things Yuuji said. “I know the prize money won’t appeal to you. So just think of it as a man’s pride at stake. Gojo-san is a man, surely he won’t back down from this, right?” Yuuji taunt. He takes pride in it for being able to apply what Nobara taught him before.
Hearing this, Gojo couldn't stay idle. There was no way he would just stay quiet being humiliated like this. He was not one to back down from any improbable challenge. After all, this is just a silly little prank. It also looks fun, he wondered what Geto's reaction would be.
“Bring it on!”
Gojo reached into his pocket and took out a new model cellphone that wasn’t even on the market yet. "Gojo-san, are you sure you want to do this? I won’t be responsible for anything that happens later, you know,” Yuuji confirmed as Gojo opened his lock screen which displayed a photo of Geto smiling on the beach with his hair down. “No worries,” Gojo said nonchalantly. “You’re doing this because you’re a real man, right?” Yuuji repeated like a typical annoying content creator. “Of course,” replied Gojo absentmindedly.
“Here, look, Suguru’s contact. I’ll call him now,” he pointed to Yuuji as proof. The latter tilted his head to look at Gojo’s cellphone screen which showed a contact named Suguru <3
Gojo pressed the telephone-shaped icon. His cell phone rang in his palm for a few seconds before someone finally picked it up. “Satoru?” a soft but firm voice answered.
“Hey Suguru.” Yuuji in the background asks him to put the speaker on loud with a hand signal. He did just that.
“What’s up?”
“So I wanted to talk about something..”
“What is it? It’s not like you hesitating like this. What’s wrong? Did something happen? Are you okay?”
He was so worried that he started to ramble. Gojo almost wanted to call off what he was going to say next. Almost.
“Suguru, let’s cancel our engagement.” He finally dropped the bomb.
“What? What do you mean?” the reply came almost immediately.
“As I said before, cancel the engagement,” he replied feigning indifference in his voice.
“Are you serious? Oh I know, this must be one of your jokes, right? Let me tell you, this isn’t funny. At. All.” He sounded dangerously furious that even Yuuji felt goosebumps run down his spine even though he wasn’t the recipient of said anger.
“No, I’m dead serious right now.”
It took a few seconds of silence on the other line before another reply came.“Where are you now? I’ll come over to you and we can talk face to face.”
Gojo glanced at Yuuji who was listening seriously next to him and Yuuji replied in a barely whisper that asked him to finally tell him about his nonexistent 'true love'. “No, that’s unnecessary. I just want you to know that I’ve found the love of my life and that’s the reason why I want to cancel this engagement.”
"First you want to unilaterally cancel our engagement which is just a matter of time away, and now you’re just going to dump me over a phone call with unreasonable reasons?” he asked incredulously. It was clear his vast patience had snapped now.
“I can tell him now, right?” Gojo asked rhetorically in a scantily audible voice. He wouldn’t need Yuuji’s answer before he finally decided that this challenge was over. The pink haired boy rapidly nodded in agreement.
But before he could reveal everything, or lighten the atmosphere which was starting to become suffocating, Geto beat him to it.
"Also what do you mean love of your life? So what have I been to you all this time?” Geto continued in a small, almost inaudible voice. “What is the meaning of everything we have been through together up to this point?" It felt like he had lost all his energy trying to comprehend Gojo’s nonsense. He might also break down at some point now.
Gojo was left speechless. He couldn't remember what he wanted to say just now. All he could think about was Geto and his sorrowful voice. He was filled with feelings of guilt and anger towards himself. How impudent he is that he dares to make his baby sad.
“…you know what? Okay, we’re done,” he said feigning to be tough. But it didn’t sound convincing with a sob following behind. “You can just..” his voice cracked. “Just go into your lover’s arms or something. I won’t stop you anymore,” he sniffled.
“I hope you’re happy, Satoru.” With that, the phone died.
“Wha-, wait Suguru!” He tried, but to no avail. The call had been disconnected long ago, leaving behind a deafening sound.
Gojo tried calling Geto's number again only to be redirected to operator's voicemail. Dread filled him upon realization. "I'm blocked..?" He kept trying repeatedly hoping it was just an error but to no avail.
Yuji looked up warily, aware of the cold tension coming from Gojo. "That was unexpected," he said as an attempted to ease the atmosphere. But it doesn't seem to work. Gojo only glanced at him briefly before starting to walk away and bid him goodbye with his back to him.
"Wait, Gojo-san. Your money!"
"Just keep it, I don't need it," muttered Gojo flatly.
"Gojo-san, it's not my fault you know," Yuuji said defensively as he string along Gojo who kept walking further. The camera following after him.
“Gojo-san? Gojo-san!"
