Izuku felt crushed…
Today had been the big quirk assessment day! The day every kid looks forward to!~ finding out what his quirk is so he can finally be a hero~!
But…
“M sorry kid, but yer quirk wont really get ya far in life,” the quirk doctor offered, “See this?”
There on the desk was a glass jar filled with a shining white light.
“This is an energy we call Remnant. Most people cant even see it at all. Its at the core of many Quirk based technology,” he explained, “but yer quirk makes you able to absorb this energy. Usually it means ya can be possessed by spirits p easily but well… Seein as yaw anna be a hero… Yer ma asked me ta break this to ya easily…”
The doctor sighed and offered Izuku a Walkie Talkie most Heroes use when they’re just starting out. It was playing a Broadcast about a villain a few streets down.
Izuku gently took the radio and it suddenly stopped working. Completely loosing power…
“Theres no easy way of sayin this… but ye can’t be a hero… If ya cant even hold one ah these, yer chances of being picked up by any agency are nil,” he offered.
Izuku couldn’t stop holding the radio all the way home. Not even hearing his mom offering reassurance or his Dad walking out on them…
After all, a child’s Quirk takes after the parents in some way… and Izuku’s wasn’t fire or making things float…
He just sat there at the computer desk and watched All Might’s video on loop…
Most people didn’t like this one in particular as it was one of his bloodier videos… But Izuku loved to see how he grinned brightly despite all the chaos and mayhem…
A True hero…
And now he cant…
A Few months passed and Izuku’s mom was growing concerned…
He had been coming home every day with new bruises and other injuries…
She drew the line when he came home with a Bleeding scorch mark across part of his face. The nurse tried to patch it up but well… An explosion to the face is some pretty serious business.
It left Izuku’s vision in that eye a bit worse off, but at least a quick trip to the hospital took care of the worst of it. Some scarring but mostly just a discoloration to the skin.
And Bakugo didn’t even get written up for it as it was merely Collateral Damage during a quirk assessment class…
“Izuku darling?” his mother said as she crouched in front of her Five year old son.
Izuku looked up from the Freddy Fazbear coloring book he was working on, “yes mom?”
“Remember your uncle Mike? The one who used to babysit you?” she asked softly.
Izuku thought for a moment before nodding eagerly, “n I got to go to the pizzeria!~”
“Well… How do you feel about staying with him for a while?” She asked softly, gently petting Izuku’s head.
“Are… are you gonna leave like papa did?” Izuku asked hesitantly, eyes filling with tears.
“No! No no no!” Inko assured him, pulling her darling son in for a kiss, “I will never leave you like he did…”
Izuku nuzzled her chest, whimpering softly.
Eventually she managed to soothe him to sleep… “Never going to leave you…” she muttered. She just needs some time to save up money and get him into a good online school. They were so expensive these days… Especially the Nedzu Road to Success School she wanted to get him into… With Nedzu as the principal of UA she hopes that school will prepare her little Izuku for his dream…
Izuku looked in awe as he stepped out of the Car. Before him was a truly impressive building. Not a mall, no this was a Pizzaplex. A Grand Attraction meant to cater to kids of all ages. From what his mom said, his uncle Mike lives in there as a live in employee.
And pulling some strings, Inko and Mike had gotten permission for him to live there with his uncle. The only stipulation being that Izuku doesn’t get to use the attractions for free, and has to fill out reports for them so the Management knows if things are running smoothly.
Something Inko felt was perfect for her observant little man~
Izuku looked to her waiting. Never one to run ahead. Soon Inko walked over and gently took his hand, “Excited?” She asked softly.
A Little nod was her only response as Izuku hid his smile with his scarf. Freaky little Dekus don’t get to smile in public… Kachan made sure he knew his place… Breaking almost every piece of Heroic technology they touch just from a brush of his hands…
Inko let out a little sigh…
“Mike is a mechanic here. He used to be a security guard, but he got promoted recently,” Inko offered, hoping it would perk up her son.
“Who’s your favorite?” Inko asked idly as she guided Izuku in through an employee entrance. Using the Card they were sent by Fazbear entertainment for Izuku to use. Giving the card to him after.
“Ah… Moon… I like Mister Moon…” Izuku offered shyly as he gently took the Key Card. Holding it close between his hands…
“Why don’t we go to the Shops and get a lanyard?” offered Inko, smiling brightly. She had a little bit of money in the bank to treat Izuku today!~
Looking up surprised, Izuku asked, “are you sure?”
Inko nodded, “you can use it to keep your Keycard safe~”
It took longer than expected to find a shop with the daycare animatronics themed merch. Only the Daycare shop itself had them unfortunately… And Mike was standing behind the counter…
He looked more than a little annoyed by his spot there as well…
“Oh! Oh my, are you alright?” Inko asked while Izuku explored the shelves.
Mike Schmidt, half brother of Inko, grumbled under his breath… “Do I look alright to you?” he grumbled, “Moon Man destroyed the Shop’s animatronics again… and look who has to take their place until they’re repaired?”
“Again? I thought that bug was fixed…?” Inko asked worried. Glancing to her son just to make sure he wasn’t going too far away. Noting how he found and was playing an arcade machine…
“Nah… Somehow he got reinfected recently. P sure one of the staff members is doing it intentionally,” he sighed.
“Is it still… safe…?” Inko asked with a softer whisper.
Mike shrugged, “eh, all the animatronics are unable ta hurt Kids. May not be safe for me, but m p good at gettin outa death traps~”
Inko sighed, “that worries more than assures me…”
Letting out a snort, mike rubbed the back of his neck, “its ah… Yeah… A Lot… Ya know how my dad was…”
“Mum wouldn’t stop telling me how much of an idiot he was,” Inko rolled her eyes.
Suddenly they both hears a scream as Izuku was shocked.
Inko rushed over and Mike vaulted over the counter to follow.
The machine shut down fully…
Izuku lay on the ground, to warm to the touch…
Eyes closed…
“Izuku! Izuku!” Inko cried out desperately. Shaking the little one’s shoulder.
“Lets get him to the Med Bay,” Mike said, leaning down and scooping Izuku up, “Use my watch ta ping one of the cast, they’re all programmed with Medic training.”
She nodded, taking his Faz-Watch to press the Urgent First Aid button. Hoping it isn’t too serious… After the incident with Katsuki…
She cant loose him…
Not like this…
